In Memoriam: Lactose the Intolerant

I got an email from Lactose the Intolerant’s sister on Saturday night:

I am his sister and have asked my family if anyone told his blog friends and no one said they had. I hope I’m in the right of doing this, but I thought you guys should know that he passed away Sept 28th of a heart attack. My family was worried that if they said anything his posts would get deleted, but I didn’t think you’d do that. Here is his obituary.

And here is a link to everything he’s ever posted at IMAO.

I don’t know what to say. I’ve never had a blogger I’ve respected pass away on me. I try to think of words, but they all seem stupid and inadequate right now. I’ll be posting more on this in the future, and also links to those who have, unlike me, found their words.

Meanwhile, I’m turning it over to you guys. Comments are open.

UPDATE 3:45 PM

I didn’t know this, but Lactose had a book on Amazon, if you want to check that out:

Uncle Sid’s Guide to Home School Your Hellions

With home schooling becoming ever more popular, Uncle Sid brings his 16 years of experience dealing with hellions to bear in crafting this home schooling guidebook that will equip your own little hellions with the gritty, street smarts they will need to excel in the chaotic, urban landscape that is modern American society. For those who feel unqualified to home school their hellions, this book allows them to first teach themselves and then confidently educate the offspring the courts allege are theirs. The guide covers letters, mathematics, science, history, civics and even basic sexuality in a way that makes the knowledge accessible to the uneducated of all ages. To conclude, this is a home schooling guidebook that no sane parent would ever use to teach a child anything ever. (i.e. it is a parody)

  1. Wow….I always assumed he was just someone posting with a different name, not an actual …person. How sad : (

Heart attack at 46?? He probably forgot to pay for his ObamaCare. Everyone knows that having insurance health care with a $50,000 deductible is the only way to stay healthy. That and voting for the D.

At least he doesn’t have to see the probable outcome of the “election”, I know I’m not looking forward to it.

  2. Aw, crap! He sure as hell will be missed. No more of his fun parody vignettes… I think he knew how much they were enjoyed, though. How often he got told sincerely by many: “Now *that* line made me laugh out loud!”

  3. One of the great downsides of the internet with anonymous posting is that the great things that often affect us go unnoticed by those we share a little time with on a daily basis.

Godspeed Lactose Intolerance and my the land of Milk and Honey prove to be at least tolerable to you.

  4. Oh, I am in tears. I bought the book on the theory that more sales will help his family, which seems to have been the most important thing in his life. 46! I have refrigerator mold older than that.

  6. Lactose was a great guy and a really funny one at that. If you think his posts were good, you should have seen some of the conversations in email. I’m really going to miss him. He was one of those rare interesting characters that added so much flavor to life. He also had one of the best nick names ever. “Lactose the Intolerant”. I mean, how awesome is that name? You’re already laughing at that before you even get into what he wrote.

We’ll be writing some tributes to our friend Lactose over at NP in the coming days. If anyone wanted to write something or just add a few comments, especially if you knew him or were a fan of his writing, please email us at nukingpolitics@gmail.com and I’ll make sure to post them.

  9. Oh, no! I have been away from here for awhile and missed this. I feel terrible. Prayers go out to all his family and friends. So sorry for your loss. He was a gifted and witty writer and he left us far too soon. God bless you, sir, and may you rest in peace.
