Blinding Logic
Posted by Frank J. at 05:12 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (10)

I was in a hotel today, and, at the elevator, there was the usual sign "In Case Of Fire Use Stairway For Exit, Do Not Use Elevators", but under it it also said the same thing (I assume) in Braille. When the hell is that going to come into play? Is some blind guy going to be in front of the elevator panicking and yelling, "The hotel is on fire! The hotel is on fire! The hotel... Ooh, something to read." I guess it still ain't as bad as Braille on a drive through ATM, which seems to encourage dangerous behavior.

Anyway, since blind people can't read my website, is it okay to make fun of them just like it's okay to make fun of the Amish?

What's wrong with making fun of the Amish?

Also, the sign out to be "IN CASE OF FIRE, USE WATER." I have never heard of anyone putting out a fire with an elevator or stairs.

Somehow I knew if I mentioned the Amish, you would appear :)

Hey, they can't read it, but they can listen to it with special overpriced software.

Microsloth includes a speech interpreter in WindowsXP but it speaks in Bill Gates voice so no one will use it.

thats a terrible think to say! tis not bill gates' voice, its him showing of the software when he speaks in real life. in fact his real voice when used is part of the process to summon satan

I thought it was Stephen Hawking's voice. That guy really gets around, though why a world-renowned physicist needs to moonlight on my doctor's appointment reminder service is a mystery - I guess Oxford doesn't pay too well.

Letter to the editor:

Did you see Ray Charles' new piano?
Neither did he.
That was cruel, but he'll never know.
