As a woman, I don't believe that women belong in combat situations (except in extreme and rare circumstances). We're physically different than men; our strengths lie in different areas, i.e., childbirth.

That said, I'm fully in agreement with Rachel that whoever wrote that article is a pompous ass. I'd like to put him in a room with a few big strong angry marines and make him read his article aloud to them. Heck, I could prolly sell tickets. Do it through the USO.

Whether or not women should be in combat is too serious an issue to have women involved in the discussion :P

while I don't agree with the way we wrote it, Brian Sewell's does sort of hit a central point that many of us in the military think is valid.

I really don't mind if women want to go into combat if htey are willing to die for their country. The real problem is that we need another branch of military with much lower standards than the other branches. We are sending people off to possible die in combat and it isn't the ones we could more easily do without. We need Force Ten from Idiot School to do important jobs like check for mines or check for poisonous gas or even check for snipers.
If we could have such a military group, I would fully encourage it to allow women among the ranks. This is because I want to be completely fair and I think that I know an equal number of men and women who shouldn't be kept around long enough to procreate.
