The Assault Rifle Ban Makes Me So Mad I Want to Go on a Shooting Spree
Posted by Frank J. at 07:48 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (159)

The assault rifle ban is coming up for renewal, and Bush said he supports it. That sucks, yo. Gun regulations are always made by people who don't know jack about guns (that's why they hate them), and the assault weapon ban pretty much defines an assault weapon as any gun that looks cool or has an awesome name. And all these laws are never retroactive (do you want to be the one going door to door asking people for their guns?), so they make the pre-ban guns really expensive. Soon, the ability to kill lots of people quickly will solely be in the hands on the rich. That because - and remember this - Democrats hate poor people.

Anyway, I think citizens should be able to own real assault weapons, and I mean the ones that are fully automatic rifles with large capacity clips (or belt fed). Here are ten reasons why:

TOP TEN REASONS REGULAR CITIZENS SHOULD BE ABLE TO OWN ASSAULT RIFLES

10. Sometimes you're too mad for just a normal gun.

9. If you see a dozen deer in one meadow, how else are you supposed to shoot them all before they run away?

8. Self-defense sometimes involves "assaulting" a fortress.

7. Keeping control of a fully automatic weapon helps build upper body strength.

6. If we're not allowed to have assault rifles, that will make us mad and we have other guns.

5. Not as impressive writing your name in the wall with a semi-automatic.

4. For elderly people with arthritis, it may be painful for them to hit the trigger multiple times.

3. What if dragons are real and one tries to mug you in a dark alley.

2. I don't how good a reason this is, but after I've had a few beers in me I'm always like, "Man, would it be cool to have an assault rifle right now."

And the number one reason regular citizens should be able to own assault rifles...

This is America; we don't have to give a g'damn reason for owning something.

This is America. If I have enough money, I should be free to buy anything I want. And I want a GOOD-LOOKING WOMAN along with that assault fifle.

Ninjas! Where are the ninjas? Surely they should be on the list somewhere...

#2 - Posted by: Steve on May 15, 2003 08:03 AM

I think we need more assault weapons and fewer homicide weapons.

I am going to write my congressman as soon as the nurse brings me my crayons.

#3 - Posted by: Brian J. on May 15, 2003 08:09 AM

That point about arthritis makes a lot of sense. My grandmother has arthritis. Makes it hard for her to shoot drug-dealing scumbags, especially when they are trying to run away.

#4 - Posted by: Clint the Cool Guy on May 15, 2003 08:17 AM

Hey. Just change the name of assault weapons. Assualt sounds like you're going to decimate cute little fluffy bunnies, and kills lots and lots of people. If you name it something like defensive weapons, you could say that it is a deterrent to evil-doers and terrorists. Once they see that assault (I mean, defensive) rifle point at them, they will stay faaarrrrr away from your house. Also, people and the media who has absolutely no knowledge of guns can't portray them as evil.
Reporter: How do you feel about assault weapons?
Person: ooooh, they're bad. Assault weapons sound so evil. We should ban them!!!!

Reporter: How do you feel about defensive weapons?
Person: Hmm....weapons aren't cool, but they sound like they're used for defensive purposes only. I guess they're ok!

> What if dragons are real ...

Pesky Dragons.

Donde esta los Ninjas big guy? If attacked by a horde of Oreo cookie chucking Ninjas how else are you gonna defend yourself? Huh? Unless you're fully auto, by the time you pull the bolt back you been nunchucked off the head half a dozen times.

Its a conspiracy by the UN to ease us into a Ninjatocracy. Black helicopters, black jumpsuits. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The assault weapons ban is the best thing to ever happen to the MensaMan. I wanted an AR-15 in the worst way, but could not afford the $1,000 to $1,500 price. When the Clintonistas "banned" them, demand immediatly shot up, and Colt responded by increasing production of the post ban gun. After the initial buying frenzy, demand dropped, and so did the price. When the price got to $700, MensaMan was able to buy one. Ha. I never would have had one without Clinton's gun ban...and that makes the gun a pure pleasure to shoot.

#7 - Posted by: MensaMan on May 15, 2003 09:26 AM

Hey, it's me again, Bernie Goetz, the Subway Gunman. I'm not against assault weapons persay, as long as they are used to kill street thugs -- not cute little furry animals like squirrels. Check out my website at:

Bernie for Mayor

Of course, more than 300,000 innocent squirrels are killed each year by assault weapons. And why? Squirrels never hurt anyone, except for the rabies, but they can give a man soooo much pleasure...oh, uh, sorry, I digress. BTW, Frank J. I used a cheap .380 auto when I dusted those mean guys on the subway and it worked just fine. No need for an expensive, large caliber weapon, and I was able to conceal it quite easily in my underoos.

#8 - Posted by: Bernie Goetz on May 15, 2003 09:27 AM

"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Isn't making a law banning a specific type of weapon an "infringement"?

#9 - Posted by: _Jon on May 15, 2003 09:30 AM

You got that right! I mean, how dare the government use the 2nd amendment to suppress nuclear weapons trade? If I want to keep a few nukes in my basement for self-defense, that's my God-given right!

#10 - Posted by: Clint the Cool Guy on May 15, 2003 09:44 AM

Assault rifles are good because they help me defend my Oreos against health-nut busybodies.

Free the Oreos, by any means necessary!

Power to the cookie.

#11 - Posted by: apotheosis on May 15, 2003 09:49 AM

John is right--nomenclature is important: think "daisy cutter", which is far less threatening-sounding than "cluster bomb". I thought the military was deploying gardening tools for the longest time. Assault weapons just need a nicer name!

#12 - Posted by: Susie on May 15, 2003 09:53 AM

Just as long as the government doesn't put on a ban on assault bear arms! Have you ever tried to fight off a gang of crack smoking thugs with just some old semi-automatic bear arms?? It just doesn't work. Soon enough all the criminals will be tottin' bear arms and all us law abiding citizens will have to settle for throwing rocks like a bunch of crazy arabs.

Happy Sticks?

#14 - Posted by: Sweet Lou on May 15, 2003 10:00 AM

I heard they arent even gonna vote on the assault weapons ban, they are just going to let it expire, because nobody wants to vote for continuing it, but nobody wants to be on the record against continuing it, so they're just gonna pretend it doesn't exist.

#15 - Posted by: Collins on May 15, 2003 10:08 AM

Oh yeah, and they should re-name assault weapons to "theft-deterrant devices". Who would vote to ban theft-deterrant devices? I mean, come on.

#16 - Posted by: Collins on May 15, 2003 10:10 AM

"Theft-Deterrant Devices". Yeah, now that works. What Democrat in his right mind would vote against that? And you could take a poll of people on the street. "Say, are you for or against Theft-Deterrant Devices?" What are people going to say?

#17 - Posted by: Clint the Cool Guy on May 15, 2003 10:15 AM

Steve,
Orginally I was going to have an item with ninjas, but I decided against it.

Giving assault rfiles friendlier names might help. Also, we could Elmo to advertise for them and then they'd just seem so sweet.

#18 - Posted by: Frank J. on May 15, 2003 10:41 AM

I fully support a Constitutional Amendment preventing the private ownership of weapons of mass destruction, and would consider one banning barrelled weapons whose barrel diameter exceeds 80mm. However, I want the right to maintain an arsenal sufficient to deter the government from turning into a tyranny, or to replace it if it does. Note: I currently own no guns.

#19 - Posted by: Jeff Medcalf on May 15, 2003 12:35 PM

It's more considerate of their feelings to call them "weapons of assault."

#20 - Posted by: Brian J. on May 15, 2003 12:54 PM

Frank- You shouldn't be so harsh with Jeff M.
I have been an NRA member for about 5 years, with the soul purpose of defending good ol' A#2. I just got a few .22 rifles recently. It(A#2) is there to protect us from the government and the ninjas, and Jeff appears to be like me- a really bad shot so we went the political route...( besides, did you know how bad government is getting? It was reported that Tom Daschel is actually a ninja-monkey from the planet Socialista)

#21 - Posted by: Paul on May 15, 2003 01:24 PM

I don't think an explosive ordinance that is meant to be fired through tube, rocket artillery or dropped by Aircraft are the weapons the founding fathers had in mind, personal Nukes (I know it was sarcasm) aren't a good way to defend your home anyway, it might destroy your houses value for resale.

#22 - Posted by: proudamerican on May 15, 2003 01:52 PM

Nukes can be used as a self defence weapon. Just read the short story "The Ungoverned" by Vernor Vinge. :)

#23 - Posted by: Andrew Rettek on May 15, 2003 02:14 PM

9. If you see a dozen deer in one meadow, how else are you supposed to shoot them all before they run away?

I find that grenades do a good job on smaller deer. For larger ones, I suggest calling in an artillery strike.

#24 - Posted by: Pixy Misa on May 15, 2003 02:47 PM

"Defensive" Weapons just doesn't sound as cool as "Assault" Weapons. Try saying, "Hey that is one bad-ass defensive weapon!" It just doesn't work. On the other hand, hearing the woman you love saying, "I want to check out your bad-ass assault weapon" is quite a turn on.

And I DO own a gun by the way. If you live in Texas and you want to be respected by society then it's mandatory. Plus you also have to know how to cook steaks, hunt, fish, drive a beat-up old truck, drink beer, say "ya'll" a lot, and spit chewing tobacco. I'm still working on the spitting part.

"JUST KILL 'EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT 'EM OUT (OR ALLAH, AS THE CASE MAY BE)!!!", that's what I always say.

#25 - Posted by: Clint the Cool Guy on May 15, 2003 03:01 PM

Frank J.

Elmo would be an excellent choice.

Without assault weapons, what the hell are we supposed to do when hippies try to give us flowers?

I love this list! I think #9 had me laughing the most!

#28 - Posted by: Lori on May 15, 2003 05:00 PM

How 'bout "Freedom Weapons", or "Gang Busters"... Actually, I like Sweet Lou's "Happy Sticks" the best so far.

#29 - Posted by: Tuning Spork on May 15, 2003 05:36 PM

Other names for 'assault' rifles

'Boom-boom sticks' - no real explanation, I just like the name. Courtesy of the Muppets Treasure Island)

'Soap' - If a hippy gets near you, you can mercilessly slaughter them and use the excuse "Well he smelled bad so I had to give him some soap."

'French Translators' - Some guy tries to speak French to you, you just whip out the ole translator.

'Peacemakers' - someone givin you crap? just bust out your Peacemaker and they'll get real respectful real quick!

Just a few suggestions for names that wouldn't make owning assualt rifle's such a bad thing, and thus eradicate need for such a ban.

And I'd have to say number 8 was my favorite on the list.
:D

#30 - Posted by: Jeff on May 15, 2003 07:54 PM

Isn't it obvious what's going on? Laura's getting tired of Rummy leaving his cool pre-ban weapons just lying around the White House, and has decided to sell them. Since the ban is only on the manufacture & import (NOT THE SALE!) of those weapons, George is just trying to help Laura by making those guns more scarce, and thus, more valuable. So Bush supporting the gun ban is all Rummy's fault. Rummy really needs to learn to pick up after himself.

#31 - Posted by: Tom on May 15, 2003 09:04 PM

The United States is a great place because of the second amendment. If more people had guns, the world would be a safer place.

#32 - Posted by: Mikey on May 15, 2003 09:35 PM

What you need Frank J. is an American 180, .22LR caliber supra-automatic rifle. (Cycle rate of 1800 RPM). This sir is a real man's weapon. Rummy must have one under his bed right?

Having reviewed Firearm and Crime Statistics,

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/guns.htm

I still see no plausible cause for a ban on assault weapons.

Jeff--I still like "Peacemaker" and Frank J. my favorite was #4--not everyone has the insight such as you to think of the elderly.

#35 - Posted by: Ravenwolf on May 16, 2003 11:32 AM

Hey, without this ban I probably wouldn't have my Century Arms SAR-1 - which is, basically, an AK-47. $300 brand new!

I fired it for the first time yesterday and I can certainly say that I have a new favorite rifle.

I think we should call them Happy Fun Weapons. "Do not taunt happy fun weapon."

#36 - Posted by: Hadashi on May 16, 2003 12:05 PM

Clint, shame on you. I'm not a Texan, but my wife is, and I'm a Southerner, so close enough. It's "y'all", not "ya'll", which is the sort of thing that semi-retarded cheerleaders put on banners "because it looks better that way".

Don't forget the minor virtues of assault weapons, though; sometimes you NEED a pistol grip. You don't always have several minutes to aim the shot.

#37 - Posted by: Devilbunny on May 16, 2003 12:06 PM

American 180s rock, too bad I gave up my Title II, Class 3 license years ago. Wait until they ban spud launchers like they did in Califoria.

How do you register a potato?

#38 - Posted by: alfredo stroessner on May 16, 2003 08:50 PM

Aw, the hell with the assault rifles. I just want a Barrett M95.
And Acidman...take a number. I think you'll be about #55.

#39 - Posted by: Rebecca on May 16, 2003 10:23 PM

#6 was my favorite.

I bought my AR-15 in part just because of the "assault rifle ban," so mine's a "post-ban" - no evil flash suppressor or bayonet lug.

Sometimes the morons in Congress really peeve me. And I have SEVERAL other guns. :-)

#40 - Posted by: Kevin Baker on May 17, 2003 12:27 AM

countries without guns arnt american

#41 - Posted by: Joey D on May 17, 2003 02:34 AM

Jeff said: "... and would consider one banning barrelled weapons whose barrel diameter exceeds 80mm."

Cool. I can think of a number of uses for a 76mm anti-tank gun. Or tank gun, for that matter. An M4A3 Sherman is just the thing for getting through a street-clogging hippy protest (and will make their "die-in" much more convincing -- everybody wins!).

#42 - Posted by: Mike on May 17, 2003 04:57 PM

For the fashion-forward woman of today, one very good reason to have an assault weapon is it's chic-ness! It says, "This is a Woman with her own style, and the weapon to back it up." And from what I've seen of my fellow conservative women, most of the men of the blogsphere appreciated an armed woman. Besides, every wardrobe should have a little black composite.

#43 - Posted by: mamamontezz on May 17, 2003 06:45 PM

Mike, you're sick - I like it.

#44 - Posted by: Sparkey on May 17, 2003 11:33 PM

If I glue a pistol grip onto the stock of my Remington .22LR semi-automatic rifle, and then put a bipod on the barrel, it becomes illegal here in Ca. Maybe we should all do this and challenge them to look stupid by sending us to jail ????

#45 - Posted by: Rancher on May 19, 2003 03:30 PM

"I don't think an explosive ordinance that is meant to be fired through tube, rocket artillery or dropped by Aircraft are the weapons the founding fathers had in mind, "

Note that in the founding fathers' day, private ownership of Cannon was not uncommon. Even to the point of people maintaining privately owned warships. So, I'd say that tube artillery is almost certainly included in what the founding fathers had in mind. (Quick Quiz: the British sought to confiscate what at Concord?)

#46 - Posted by: Dave on May 20, 2003 09:35 PM

Well, shoot -- er, I mean dang! I just heard the Crusader mega-gun isn't going to be made even for the retail market. Damn Pentagon, screwing up my fun!

#47 - Posted by: McGehee on May 20, 2003 10:07 PM

Re: Nicer names for "Assault Weapons"

How about "Sport Utility Rifle"? ;)

(Btw, "assault weapon" is a term coined by Josh Sugarmann of the Violence Policy Center with the intent of taking advantage of some semiautomatic rifle's "menacing looks" so they could convince people the weapons were EEEEEEEEEVIL! Looks like it's worked at least partially.)

Re: Limit

Heh, my "limit" is more along the lines of "Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Antimatter weapons", but doubt an amendment will ever get passed. Why Antimatter? Well, one of the anti-gunner complaints is that the people who wrote the 2nd "couldn't imagine" this or that weapon, so I'm taking (futile) steps to avoid that pitfall.

Though I still think basic economics will keep the number of anti-tank weapons floating around at a rather low level.

#48 - Posted by: Patrick Chester on May 21, 2003 12:07 PM

You're probably right on the cannon thing, and don't get me wrong, the faster it fires, the more it destroys the cooler it is and the more I want one. I guess I mean they aren't really a thing anyone would be able to legally use since most firing ranges don't have the capabilities to contain the blasts......well, maybe in Montana. But if I could legally own one without having to have the Air Forces guarding my house I'd get one, if nothing else then just to make my next door neighbor nervous and to impress my friends...lol. I wrote my outlook on guns in my blog.... http://www.american_as_applepie.blogspot.com

many notes quoted here appear to be antigun and ridiculous comments made by those who are ignorant of what they are saying. Gun possession guaranteed by the second ammendment was primarily to enable the total population to be armed with current technology guns so that a quick army of armed citizens could be assembled to defend the nation. Also, to keep control of this nation in the hands of the general public. In that case, machine guns and so called assault weapons are what would have been intended in the days of the constitution writing if they were available. Owning guns for sport, target shooting, or hunting was not the intent. And the "people" mentioned in the second ammendment are the same "people" mentioned in the rest of the document.

#53 - Posted by: Austin on July 25, 2003 12:44 AM

It is simple, when you put a restriction on a already legal process, instead of protecting the public and keeping weapons out of the hands of criminals, you are doing the opposite, because you are simply taking weapons out of the wrong hands, in case your congressmen doesnt notice, criminals and terrorists usually dont have clean records and can not buy a gun legally, so if there arent criminals buying guns legally, why would you restrict legal sale, the effect is, that people who follow the laws and can walk into a store a purchase a weapon legally(ideal citizens) are now given limits on what type of guns and how many they can purchase while the real criminals are buying whatever they want, how many they want, whenever they want with no paperwork, giving them a upperhand, and in states like CA that has so many laws, they have really high rates of crime, because the people are so vulnerable, that results in a need for more police because the citizens cannot resolve domestic issues, and that is the reason why CA has the most crime and yet the most police, while in states like vermont, there is no need for so much police because everybody, criminal and civilian are equally armed, but in CA, since the citizens have so many laws(criminals dont have any laws) that CA has the most powerful gangs and criminals, example, a wealthy CA citizen can buy a handgun and a rifle but cant carry it, while the thug can buy a fully automatic ak47 with drug money dirt cheap, now compare a wealthy citizen to a wealthy thug, it is simple these laws are making people babies and letting thugs take our candy and make us expect our parents(police) to hold our hands, well states like CA are ruined already, the citizens fear to walk in the streets late night, because theyre are gangmembers with machineguns and the average citizen can not carry a pistol without a license, fight the laws, we can never let them destroy america, CA is getting worst and so are other states, the government knows the effect of these laws yet they still put them out, we do not know theyre sick cause, it is obviously some sick plan, because limiting someones protection has serious effects especially if your only limiting one side which are the legit people registering their guns legally.

#54 - Posted by: insaneninja on September 8, 2003 04:22 PM

oh yea.. I think that all civilians should be armed at there own will and the cops need to do there job and stop crime instead of trying to prevent it, if your job really was to prevent crime then you should all be fired, that is not your job and it should not be part of it, no matter what you do criminals can get guns, they have more connections than they have friends, I havent heard of criminals having a hard time getting guns since the 1994 crime bill, in fact crime has gone up hasnt it? so why dont you fucking pigs go try to stop the actual crimes while theyre happening, thats your job!, just please stop trying to disarm thugs, your doing a terrible job at it, making theyre lives better and our lives worst, and just fucking everything up more, well that just shows how fucked up your neighborhood congressmen is! shows how fuckin stupid they are too, fuckin suits! they dont wanna protect us they wanna control us!

#55 - Posted by: on September 8, 2003 04:48 PM

hey man you are right on with everything you said especially number one on the reasons. before you know it assault riffles will be banned totally and then all guns will be banned and then we will practically be nazi's. keep up the good work.

#57 - Posted by: Zombie Killer on October 29, 2003 12:49 PM

I understand everyones frustration with political blundering. You should be grateful however, for the fact that it is even a possibility to own guns such as the ones you are speaking of. I am from Canada and our leaders have made it illegal to own handguns, assault rifles, automatic weapons and so forth. The only thing I can legally shoot squirrels with nowadays is a rubberband. Home invasions are on the rise in the aftermath of all this "crime prevention". Don't let the government make you a victim of crime. Fight the power.

#58 - Posted by: Damien on December 17, 2003 10:46 PM

that's the great thing about the world. go to europe and they're cool with drugs, go to america and we're cool about violence because we know- real guns, real fun.

#59 - Posted by: sam frons on January 13, 2004 05:56 AM

Er...

i dunno. I'm for the 2nd amend. and all... but the idea of giving people the legal right to own a gun whose single purpose is to take out as many people as people from long range is kinda scary...

#60 - Posted by: Blup on January 13, 2004 10:16 AM

How many of you out there have a actually been in a situation of defense when an assualt weapon was needed. Sure, there's a few of you out there who could relate, but for the most part they are not nessecary for the average citizen. For most, it simply comes down to dislike of being controlled. IT SUCKS!! If I am a commonly responsible person, thats qualified, I feel that I should be able to purchase whatever the hell I would like! Weapons are awesome, interesting, and entertaining. That make for good show, great stories, and what a rush to fire. Shooting large weapons to me is better than any drug. It really is a stress-reliever and a great feeling. The world is a fucked up place. There will always be killing, robbing, and all other aspects of criminal activity. No law will ever be able to control humanity. There is no power or savior that can make this world right, so stop depriving me of my rights and the things that make me happy, for a totally unrealistic, and rediculous cause!

Oh yea, politics is the sleaziest bussiness out there. No matter what a politicians or lawmakers true beliefs are (which they are normal people with common sense like you and me)the majority of there decisions will be made based upon power and re-elections. And unfornately, a lot of people in are country are pretty content being tagged pigs lead down the death chute. WE ARE NOT CATTLE.....WE ARE HUMANS!

#61 - Posted by: Randall Bryant on January 15, 2004 03:20 PM

You are the reason we can't own assault rifles!! You can't possibly write something like "sometimes your just too mad for a normal gun", and expect people to think you are capable of responsibly owning an automatic weapon. Don't get me wrong, assault rifles are great, your just an idiot.

#62 - Posted by: manoil on March 14, 2004 04:02 AM

I agree. Retards like yourselves make it pretty hard for the rest of us to own our rifles. I like my HK, polytech and etc... But even if it's funny sometimes.. I don't talk about using it. Makes people feel wierd and law enforcement uneasy. You want your assault weapons? Shut the fuck up and quit sporting them around in your yard until the neighbors call the cops on you.

The 2nd amendment refers to small arms, not cannons and tanks and nukes geez.......some of you puny humans sound like nija's in disguise.

And true full auto weapons, which are regulated under 1934 firearms act, are obtainable if you submit fingerprints to ATF and meet background check and are willing to have ninja's inspect your wepaon at anytime to ensure you haven't sold it.

And if you go more than 50 miles away from where you store it, you have to leave it with a licensed firearms dealer for safe keeping.

"A well regulated populace, being neccessary to the security of a socialist police state, the right of the government to restrict and ban firearms shall not be infringed"

Thats the way some of puny humans act like it reads, but it doesnt.

Not a single gun law, not one, meets constitutional muster.

Me dammit, dont make me come down there, ill stick that cross up yer ass this time children...

"kill large numbers of people quickly at long range?"

son long range is a relative term, for a 9mm pistol 150 yards is long range, 300 for average "assault weapon" (which is sem-auto mind you) and 1500+ for a deer rifle with scope...get a grip.

Besides, if civilians cant own seni auto rifle because their sole purpose is to kill large numbers of people quickly, what are we doing giving the cops full auto m4's and mp5's and m249's?

They need to kill even larger crowds of folks even quicker?

Tyranny.

i fully agree with the 2nd amendment. IT doesnt state anything about deer hunting, its for self defense.

Nothing is going to change how the criminals aquire there guns, the government is trying to make the process harder for law abiding citizens. Our hunting rifles are barley legal now.

The "Dc sniper" a sniper. He may have been a military marksman but a .223 caliber weapon aint close to being a sniper rifle. The guy would of inflicted more damage if he used a hunting rifle. ...AND AW's are for the express purpose to kill as fast as u can pull the trigger, would it of made a differnce if he shot with a bolt action, he never fired twice.

LET THE BAN SUNSET!

Why dont we just give everyone a assualt rifle or some sort of firearm. This way there would be no crime because would you seriuosly try to mug a guy carrying around a ak47 or rob a home when the owner has a magnum right next to him.

It constantly amazes me (although it shouldn't) the depth of ignorance harbored by the general population. And the frenzied devotion they have to ideas they barely understand. If you notice the media/mainstream culture and it's utter dependence on labels and emotionalism rather than fact and logic you start to see how the general public makes decisions. The entire reason for ANY public support of the so called "Assault Weapons" ban is in that name alone "assault" weapons. People know fervently WHAT they believe... but none of them bother to learn WHY they believe it!

Most gun owners are aware that in truth, there isn't a single "assault weapon" listed in the entire "assault weapons ban". They're simply semi-automatic rifles with cosmetic features, NOT functional features, similar to their fully automatic ASSAULT WEAPON military counterpart. They're no different than a semi-automatic deer rifle... in fact they're smaller caliber. The politicians and special interest groups are well aware of the average American's total lack of knowledge, and exploit it with glee.

It also just proves my point about people knowing what they believe but not why... otherwise how would such a asinine law have support among any demographic? It was almost like the 94 Crime Bill was a test... can we really get a gun bill passed on nothing more than a name and Chucky Schumer holding up "evil black guns"? Can you imagine their joy when it actually worked? The cosmetic nature of the law is to shift your attention to WHAT it is (a ludicrous, aesthetic law), instead of WHY (there is that WHY again) it was passed: to simply get people used to the idea of specific guns being banned from manufacture altogether. Not since 1968 has any specific TYPE of gun been banned... and for those of you who think the guns in the "assault weapons ban" are full auto... they're merely cosmetically similar to military guns in a CIVILIAN... SEMI-AUTO configuration. Fully auto weapons have been banned from over the counter (no background check, Federal registration, etc) sales in name and form since 1934.

There again, it never ceases to amaze me the ferocity with which people will support issues they don't even understand. The anti-gun crowd in it's MAJORITY is purely anti-gun out of ignorance. Outside of the rare informed dyed in the wool extreme socialist liberal, the majority of them simply don't understand the issue for which they argue. They know what they believe but not why. I can't count how many people have said things like, "I don't see what other use a gun that looks like that has other than killing", "what do you need it for?", "what possible use could that gun have!" or "I can't see why anyone would need a gun unless they plan to shoot people" or "I don't understand why you need any gun besides a hunting gun.". These same people usually, who see the common sense of gun ownership if you simply explain that you enjoy to shoot "cool" guns, just as people enjoy to drive "cool" cars. Sure, cars kill more people than guns, drugs and lightning (lol) combined, but we believe in freedom so those rights aren't infringed. Why should gun rights be any different? The answer is: they shouldn't.

After all, the constitution doesn't say "the right of the people to keep and bear sporting and hunting arms shall not be infringed *much*". The type of weapons being banned today are EXACTLY what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the 2nd Amendment. As someone else said, if these guns are so terribly dangerous... "only meant to be 'spray fired' from the hip killing large numbers of people"... exactly why do the police need fully automatic MP5s and M4s? I understand the military needing such weapons and also special response teams such as SWAT (rarely more than SQUAT), SRT and so forth... but what possible explanation can they come up with for average police officers needing such "dangerous" weapons? I see more reasonable need for civilian ownership than I do for average law enforcement. Atleast a civilian is buying such a weapon for practice/competition/plinking... what other use does it have for average officers than to shoot large groups of people? (Such as a population rebeling? No!) Some might say to "combat evil assault weapons"... and I say sure, that might happen, but that is what SWAT teams train for, not average cops.

If you look at the legal civilian ownership of full auto weapons you see a startling problem... even the government knows these weapons pose little danger to the safety of average citizens... obviously, they're still legal to purchase, albeit with a ton of red tape. So then, if they're still legal to own... why on earth did they make it illegal to convert semi-auto weapons to full auto in 1986, thereby driving the price of full auto weapons out of the reach of average Americans? Most people might find my answer a "conspiracy theory" or "extremist" but I can honestly find no other reason: to keep them out of the hands of large numbers of law abiding civilians. Find me a criminal who is willing to:

A: Find a police chief or other law enforcement authority to do a background check and sign their class 3 weapons application. Send that application and $200 dollars to the BATF.

B: Submit to a intensive BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) background check, fingerprinting and registration. Then give the ATF the right to know the location of the weapon and you at all times so they can, if needed, come verify it is truly in said persons possession.

C: To sell that weapon privately, the buyer must go through the exact same steps the original purchaser did to even take possession.

Find me a criminal that is willing to go through all of that and I'll print my post out and eat it. A second piece to the puzzle... if these so called assault weapons are so TERRIBLY dangerous... why is no one screaming for the outright ban of civilian ownership of the only _true_ assault weapons... full autos? I mean, if these people are so concerned with the danger of criminals legally buying guns... why aren't they worried about full autos? Since all the laws passed deal with LEGAL purchase of weapons, that must be important! Well, you say... "because they know no criminal on earth would go through the background check to get a full auto, only a law abiding citizen would!"

Correct you are. Why then have full autos been banned from new sales (since '68 you haven't been able to purchase brand new full autos... you had to convert them until that was banned in '86) or conversion of semi-auto to full auto since 1986 for civilian use? Once again, the conclusion can only be: they don't want average law abiding citizens owning weapons with which they might have a fighting chance to overthrow their government should it become out of control. What else could it be? If they were truly concerned about criminals legally purchasing "assault weapons", wouldn't the first reasonable step be to actually ban ASSAULT WEAPONS?! The Founding Fathers said the people should revolt every 20 years because that is how long it takes a government to become entrenched and corrupt. (What do you think has happened in 200 years?)

So, we're all in agreement they don't really care about who owns full autos... as they're not really a threat to public safety... as long as it isn't a large group of law abiding Americans, right? Right! Ok, good... moving on to the assault weapon ban. Simple logic brought us to the conclusion that they care not about civilians owning full autos, just that the prices must be preclusive of an average American, should they want to put themselves through the hoops, to buy one. So what, then, is the explanation for the so called ban on "assault weapons"?

Lets put the pieces together. Full auto ok for civilians as long as the price probits average citizens from owning them. Obviously price doesn't prevent an intent criminal from buying it, the ATF registration does! So what possible reason could they have for wanting the price so high average civilians can't own them... OTHER THAN TO PREVENT AVERAGE CITIZENS FROM OWNING THEM! If they don't mind people owning them, why exclude all but the wealthiest? The average cost for a registered sear (not a gun, a simple $12 dollar part) is about $10,000 or more. While law enforcement or military can purchase a brand new MP5 for about $900 bucks, it costs a citizen $15,000. What happened to liberty and equality for all? Is it some kind of rich people only club? "If you're not filthy rich, well you had just better forget about getting to enjoy and own a full auto".

So, no full auto for average civilians. What about semi-auto guns? Obviously this wasn't about full auto firearms - real assault weapons... they simply wanted to convince otherwise good, but uninformed Americans that it WAS. And now, knowing that it takes little more than a few labels (assault weapon, spray fire, etc) and a few pictures of perfectly legal semi-auto weapons in military LIKE configurations to get a gun ban passed, it's quite easy to move the next step: completely banning semi-auto weapons cosmetically similar to their military counterparts. Even total gun bans. And in doing so, removing even the slightest chance the people could mount an armed revolt or even dissent backed by the threat of force. What's dissent without anything to back it up? A society at the mercy of it's own government. It's a progression, lets look at the timeline:

'68 First, ban the purchase of new full autos by civilians. (One interesting side note: the '68 gun ban was copied almost exactly by Democratic Senator Thomas Dodd from Hitlers 1938 gun ban, lovely, huh?)

'86 Second, ban the conversion of semi-auto to full auto, thereby driving the prices out of reach of average citizens. So, not only can a civilian not purchase a new full auto, now he can't even convert his semi-auto to full auto unless he pays $10,000 JUST FOR A SEAR. That's equitable and fair.

'94 Third, test the waters... can we really get gun legislation passed simply by giving guns, no different from any other legal weapon, a bad name? Simply by showing pictures of weapons that look like they're full auto, but in reality are no different than any other semi-auto rifle or pistol and calling them assault weapons? Sounds ridiculous, but _it actually happened_.

2004 and on: They knew that gun owners would be angry about the 94 Gun Ban, but most wouldn't throw a fit. After all, any person halfway knowledgable about guns would laugh at the pure ridiculous aesthetic nature of the bill. They intended it to be just such a bill, as I said, it was a test. The real gun bans are on the horizon. They'll let this cosmetic ban sunset so they can give a collective cry for some STRICT "assault weapons" legislation. "To keep all those terrible guns from 'FLOODING ONTO THE STREETS'" as they say on the Brady website about the current cosmetic ban. Which they then contradict themselves within the same breath and say that gun manufactures have found "loopholes" with which to resume making the guns... since when was following the law called finding loopholes? Which is it Brady? Is the law keeping those awful assault weapons off our streets or are the manufactures still making them via loopholes? A little bit of reading and you see Brady/Handgun Control/ETC care nothing about facts. Their sole purpose in life is to sway public opinion through the use of distorted statistics and blatant contradictory lies. Take for instance their statement that "weapons with pistol grips allow dangerous 'spray fire'"... what?! Can't you stick a 40 round mag in a Ruger Mini-14 with a straight stock and "spray fire"? Can't you "spray fire" with _any_ semi-automatic pistol or rifle?

And you gotta love their statistics... they do things like take the entire number of ACCIDENTAL deaths, accidents NOT RESULTING IN DEATH, SUICIDES and HOMOCIDES and say that is the total for gun violence that year. Since when is an accident considered "violence", or a suicide for that matter? Or take the total statistics for all the above mentioned categories for the age group of 16 to 25 and say that is the number of "children" killed every year. Well, more children and teenagers die from auto accidents than any other one thing combined... why aren't we crying out to deny people that right? In my life a car is no more important than a gun, although at surface value that might seem untrue, because it's part of my family's heritage and tradition. It's no less important to me than TV or driving to the supermarket. Point of fact, it's MORE important, people just don't want to admit it. The truth is, guns leave people the OPTION... maybe we'll never overthrow the shooting range, much less the government, but without guns you're at the mercy of YOUR OWN government. I don't like to leave it up to people to "do the right thing", because without fail... people left with absolute power seldom "do the right thing". What are you going to do about it if they don't? Stomp your feet and complain REALLY loud? March up to Congress and say "Uh, we changed our minds... we want our guns back!"?

Once we no longer even have the OPTION, it's out of our hands. There's no going back, no calling time out or saying "gosh, I wish we still had the choice". These cosmetic bans are simply gauging public reaction to the idea, just the idea, of outright gun bans. It's time gun owners stopped trying to win with pure logic alone... why isn't the NRA placing the same public awareness ads that the anti-gun groups are? The facts are on our side, why don't we say anything? Grassroots organizations are great, but frankly they get nothing done save preaching to the choir. We need a well organized, well funded public relations and legislation coalition banding all the grassroots groups under one banner, that can point out the sheer stupidity of the anti-gun lobby. If we don't cut through to the common sense of average Americans and end the plague of ignorance we won't have the right to even discuss this. After all, according to the Patriot act the very thing I'm doing now makes me a "terrorist". To wish to change the course of government makes you a terrorist. Excuse me? Wishing to have a ridiculous law or law(s) changed makes one a terrorist? Whew, I'm glad they're keeping those AR15s with bayonet lugs out of the hands of terrorists, you remember that horrid mass bayonetting last year? If this law expires, why, why... we'll have guns with bayonets flooding back onto our streets, children roasting hotdogs on pre-ban weapons... it'll be mayhem!

Once we're past this cosmetic stage, then not only will large groups of law abiding civilians not be able to own full autos as it stands, they'll be denied the semi-auto version of those same weapons. And lets not forget what kind of weapons they're banning folks, even though these so called semi-auto "assault weapons" account for less than 1% of crime, they're banning weapons with possible military use. The very type of weapons specifically named in the Constitution... the very weapons needed for "a well regulated militia". What is a militia after all but a collection of armed citizens? The very weapons that the Constitution should GUARANTEE are never banned are the VERY ONES they're going after. The very ones with which a well armed citizen militia might take back control of a tyrannical government. They say the Founding Fathers "couldn't invision the type of weapons available today". That couldn't be further from the truth. The Founding Fathers concieved the 2nd Amendment not for hunting or sport, not for defending yourself against a criminal; although those play a part, the Framers intended the 2nd Amendment so the people could fight an oppressive government. So in reality, we should be demanding not only they cease this Unconstitutional propaghanda campaign to ban semi-auto military style weapons, but demand the 1986 and 1968 gun bans be lifted. Keep the ATF registration and intense background checks in place... but allow people to purchase these weapons at a reasonable price should they choose to pay the $200 dollars and go through the hassle.

Just as it happened in Germany and countless times throughout history... people easily forget, especially in these days and times with the country's five second attention span, that governments don't always stay the same. Germany was a Republic just like America is a Republic... until Hitler banned all the weapons and took over the country. How easily forgotten that just because we lasted 200 years doesn't mean it's unthinkable we might have to take up arms against tyranny. The Founding Fathers had this clear in their collective mind, having just gained freedom from an oppressive, anti-private ownership of guns England. They realized an unarmed public is at the mercy of their government. The wording of the 2nd Amendment is of utmost importance: A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a *FREE STATE*, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. There, those words, "FREE STATE" are what are so important. Not a state under an oppressive Federal rule, but a FREE state. If California wants to ban every gun in it's borders, that's fine... they're a free state. HOWEVER... by the very wording of the Constitution, right in the 2nd Amendment, *any federal gun law is illegal and UNCONSTITUTIONAL*! A militia being nothing more than individual armed citizens, *until such a time as they come together for defense or revolution*... then those individual armed citizens become a militia.

The thing we sometimes forget is probably one of the most important issues in the gun debate: the Founding Fathers thought gun rights so important they placed it second to FREE SPEECH! Freedom of expression and free speech was first in their minds but gun ownership was second... the second most important amendment to a free republic and that is the one being most attacked. And worse yet, the very Amendment with which we need to obstruct tyranny and protect the rest of the Amendments will be gone. Scary.

I figure ALL my weapons are Sport Utility Weapons (SUW's) and I know it's just a matter of time before heavily-armed ATF agents come for the slingshot I bought at a garage sale the other day.
In the meantime; if you plan to hurt me, my family, or remove my property without my permission, you'd better be prepared to dodge anything I can lay my hands on. It matters not whether it is high-capacity, armor-piercing, pre-ban, semi-automatic, sharp, serrated, dull, pointed, blunt, or light enough for me to pick up-yet heavy enough to bash in a skull. If I can use it as a weapon, I will.
What keeps us safe from one another is goodwill among men. When that is gone, you'd better stock up on ammo.

You People are the most violent people I have ever heard. "Taking out as many people as I can, and Let God sort them out"? What kind of example is that to the youth of your Country? (I'm Canadian, and Proud of it!) No wonder you have the Highest murder rate in the world, YES!!! you do have the right to defend yourself and your family, but where do you think all of the illegal guns have come from? From Houses robbed, owned by people like you who think that having 10 riffles and a couple of hand guns. The black Market doesn't make gun they steal them...... from you, and intern you go out buy more guns. Where does this cycle end? the Assault riffle ban was useless back in '94 and it's useless now, your countries problems with guns goes WAY back before that friends....Drop the guns, and put up the fists and be a man!

Oh that American thinking, got to love it "Do what we say, or we'll bomb you". With that attitude it's no wonder that every other country in the world thinks so low of the US. Try to bomb us, I do believe that last time our countries went to war WE WON (read a book). It's people like you "Mad Marcus" that give the US a bad name. I.E. the US is the only country that I know of that the people have to put another country's flag on their nap-sack when they are traveling so they don't get harassed (usually Canadian). Doesn't that say something to you? When I think of what your Soldiers are going through every day (I applaud your Marines, Navy, Army) and for you to sit there and say "we would've bombed it out of you" that just shows your ignorance "Mad Marcus".

Typical left leaning hippie crap, Hey you know what? I'm Canadian too. B.F.D! (figure it out) I for one am tired of self important "Canucks" patrolling the net potraying themselves as the second coming of understanding and enlightenment. If it were up to me the sooner Canada became the 52nd state the better. Try wearing the maple leaf in front of "Al' Zarcowee" and his cohorts, At least the good old USA is willing to take a stand. Fair weather friends need not apply.

Dang Dbl G, I didn't mean to get your maple-leafed panties in an even bigger twist. I guess if I ever go to another country with a U.S. flag on my knapsack (learn to use Spell Check in mid rant, Dbl G) I'd better have an assault weapon with a few high-capacity magazines inside. You're just mad because you can't have one.

dblg I don't hunt because I'm lazy and we both know the Queen is as relevant as a fart in the wind. As far as my pride it has a price and that was exceeded when our sorry excuse for a country just wasted 1.5 billion of "our" hard earned tax dollars on gun registry that can't tell the diff between a black and decker heat gun and a rifle. The first thing an unpopular administration does is disarm it's citizens. You want me to have pride in that? You want me to get out? Let me give you a rundown of what I think of "your country". Atlantic provinces are totally useless and needed only to supply cheap labour for the west, The sooner Quebec leaves the sooner I can have breakfast without having to translate the box of cereal, Ontairio? well Ontairio and Ontairians can suck my ass. Mainitoba can join them 'cause they are a bunch of traitors anyway. Saskatchewan will be the largest per capita "first nation" within 10 years. (For you American readers a first nation is what we call the Indians these days, politically correct you see)and thus where a great portion of my tax dollars will be doled out for welfare checks. As far as B.C. goes I moved out of that province when the tree hugging hippy faggots took over.

Rusty I've read and reread your posts. To quote the great movie Meet the Parents: "Its only a game Focker."
I have no idea where you are coming from. Are people in the states really that racist? Don't assume that all Canadians don't have one. Some of us just aren't stupid enough to advertise what we own.

#92 - Posted by: defleotard on September 20, 2004 12:25 AM

Rusty, I DO love my country. Im a 4th Generation Canadian and my son will be 5th. Unlike "defleotard" ( a Squirt that should have been swallowed ) I don't have a negative outlook on the world. And Second, I'm pretty sure Defleotard' would "Smoke Pole" just to get a greencard and call himself American. Sure we have problems.... what country doesn't? But I would never disrespect my country and would fight for it by any means necessary to defend it. Sure our Govm't wasted 1.4 Billion of our tax dollars, but we didn't spend 100's of Billions in tax dollars to go to WAR for non-existing "Weapons of Mass Destruction".

#93 - Posted by: Dbl G on September 20, 2004 09:00 AM

dbl g the war in iraq is totally irrelevant to the subject at hand so why even bring it up and u know what they did happen to find sarin and a mustard agent but cnn has conveinanty failed to bring these minor details to our attention (read up on jewish controlled mass media)

#94 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 20, 2004 06:21 PM

defleotard your the coolest canadian ive ever heard of at least you admit that ur gov is the 51st state and and except defeat for your ball licking government isnt it strange that your gov almost sucks as much ass as the US gov but hey atleast we bomb people

#95 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 20, 2004 06:23 PM

No, I don’t have a gun as I said before I don’t see the need for a gun ( don’t hunt…) but I do have a nice selection of swords, dagger’s, and knives etc. And if the Sh*t ever hit the fan I’d be screwed but I’ll take out a couple of ‘em, but why the hell would the RCMP come knocking on my door anyways? I’m not a criminal. And both of our Government’s “suck” everyone knows that, but nobody votes either so what do you expect?

#96 - Posted by: Dbl G on September 20, 2004 09:10 PM

Hey double G, hurt your feelings did I? Did not mean to. To get back to the topic at hand. I read a book once called 1984 and it scared the shit out of me. If you fail to see the inherent right of people to be the masters of govermnment and not the other way around I feel sorry for you. I am not a total gun nut but I don't agree with governments that enact unfair laws simply to placate those in our society that have a left leaning bent. I voted against the ruling bunch of clowns, but if you lived where I do you would see the frustrating results of the race being over before your vote is even counted. You honestly can't see how fucked up that is? As far as wanting get a green card I don't have any need to, I already work for a American multinational, raping and pillaging the land to get that get that almighty barrel of oil out of the ground, yep been to the pumps lately? I've been across the border only one time and that was only to try out I90 when Montana took the speedlimits off. Thats what I call good government!

#97 - Posted by: defleotard on September 20, 2004 10:47 PM

Thanks Rusty, I had you all wrong. Is it 51 or 52? Shows how much I want to be an American I don't even know how many states there are. Oh well if its 52 it just means you had to take Quebec separately. They have a way of totally fucking a country I strongly advise against it.

#98 - Posted by: defleotard on September 20, 2004 11:04 PM

Don’t worry my feelings are intact, I just don’t understand how you can sell out your country so easily? Would you really want a retard like “Dubya” and his admin' leading your country, I’d rather suck on monkeys ASS! And those gun laws we have are there for our protection, if we had the same rules as our friend to the south then our murder rate and crime would be at their level (no thanks). And if need be almost 10% of Canadian owns guns (hunting rifles, shotguns) so if there is a “revolution” as so many people on this page always talk about, I think the public far outnumber the RCMP and any other police force in the country.

#99 - Posted by: Dbl G on September 21, 2004 08:40 AM

Ah yes he said thinking aloud: "Many will be eliminated when the new world order comes, but you, you I will keep, to lift heavy things and grunt when called upon"

Seriously I gotta get to work, I will take that time to think of something semi-intelligent to say tonight.

#102 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 21, 2004 06:18 PM

ok you people pry think im racist and well its pry true but i mean i come from a home where racism is totally unexptable but i cant help but notice certain tendancies amongst these people i understand some are decent hard working people but more of them are not i also understand there are lazy white crimals too but a far less percentage and even less and we out number them for right now but these people i swear did you know that 10% of the US population commits 90% percent of our serious crimes ie rape murder grand theft and these people are minoritys and its not because they are not givin and equal chance to be somthing great in society im not sure why it is like it is now let me ask you a ? have u ever seen a white crip or blood but u see bloods and crips fight and steal all the time hmmmmmmm what the hell is wrong with these people........ i would like an ittelgent answer from someone not smart ass stuff like some of mine but an honest answer here

#104 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 21, 2004 11:32 PM

DblG, In my mind I don't believe I have sold out anyone. I have a problem when my country sells me out to the loudest vocal minority. ie: the persecution of law abiding gun owners made into criminals overnight. I'm a criminal? The only thing on my record are a couple of speeding tickets. You say that of the public at large about 10% have guns and these gun laws are for my and your protection. I'm not going to quibble with your facts as I realize that they are made only for arguments sake, but I believe you would be surprised with the quantity of firearms in the public domain. Many of my friends that do hunt have only registerd the rifle that they use for hunting and keep the rest out of site (Like say greased and sealed up in a PVC pipe buried in the back yard) Like I said I don't hunt, but my government which was until recently run by the sleeziest theiving scumbag this country has ever produced, will never know what I have. Your other point about George W: I'm not going to make a rash generalization that W is a retard, because I don't know that he is, I have a little more faith in the democratic system that installed the man. To call him a retard is to say that over half of the USA is populated by the stupid. What I do know is that North America and Europe if you want to include them constitute an extremely small minority of the world population and we live high on the hog wether you like it or not. I know that the USA is a superpower and I'm glad that most of the time they are on my side. They made a stand and have the guts to say "hey this is the way its going to be". Did you watch the T.V when the Taliban was shown executing women in the soccer stadium with bullet in the back of the head? Their crime? premartial sex. Iraq may be good or bad depending on your view, I think WMD was an excuse to get in and take the war back to the Middle Eas where it belongs. The rising tide of Muslim fudmentalism is the greatest threat to world peace. I don't know about you, but a world dominated by these savages is one that I want no part in and I'm glad that the USA is here and taking care of business.

#105 - Posted by: defleotard on September 22, 2004 12:09 AM

Rusty, I don't think I can give you an intelligent answer only my opinion. I think that everyone is racist and if they claim not to be they are liars. It goes from you against your neighbour right up to your country against another. We can be an envious and protective animal and those who we don't know we are suspsious of, regardless of skin color. I'm that last one that should offer any thoughts as I know that I have quite a few racist bones in my body. Just ask me about tree hugging hippies sometime.

I was torn between Highway to hell or B&B, Bon Scott would have been great if he would have lived to sing it. The songs were written they just didn't have time to get it set up.

R.I.P DblG, Never met an argument he could win.

#111 - Posted by: on September 23, 2004 08:34 PM

Rusty, in answer to your question about non-White criminals, here's one answer: it comes from generations of blaming the victims to the point where victims blame themselves & start accepting their situation instead of getting off their collective asses & doing something about it.
Let's say you were born in the 'hood. Off the bat you're destined to live your life with the world telling you you're a piece of shit, and they'll constantly show you pictures to prove it. You fight against it saying "that ain't me" so you struggle to get a good job in order to get the hell out of that environment. Many doors are slammed in your face because everyone assumes you're a piece of shit who can't speak English well, and you can't get a loan to start your own business cuz banks think the same thing about you. Meanwhile you're watching dope dealers down the block get rich and listening to illiterate rappers tell you you're stupid for not doing the same. All your buddies are getting drunk & stoned to deaden the pain of their sorry lives. All the decent hood dwellers are keeping low profiles because they got killers on one side ruling the streets and cops on the other side willing to bust their heads just because they can. Plus the politicians made the good people turn in all their weapons, so what the fuck can they do but scurry about trying to survive? Somehow you manage to get a job. You buy a decent car & save up to move out that crappy 'hood. But guess what? You can't move to a really nice area without some fool burning a cross on your lawn and your friends & family call you a sell-out for wanting to leave. You get pulled over by the cops 3 times a week because a piece of shit like you isn't supposed to have a nice car, clean clothes & you fit the description of some fuckwad that just robbed a liquor store. So you get arrested, your car gets impounded & you'll never get it back because you spent your savings posting bail, paying legal fees & bribing Bubba to keep his dick out your ass while you were behind bars. You lose your job because of the arrest. So you're stuck in the 'hood again, where your leaders are saying everything is the White man's fault, your peers say it's ok to push drugs & treat your women like ho's & the world says if you want to go on a crime spree, that's ok because the world expects nothing better from a piece of shit like you. So you can keep on struggling to do the right thing knowing you'll be invisible and people will still think you're a piece of shit anyway, or you can get mad & hook up with other hotheads and form a gang, or you can feel sorry for yourself and become a drunk crackhead. You can have peace being a drunk, or power being a scary gangbanger or self respect being a good but ignored citizen. It would be so easy to become the angry, hateful & no-good piece of shit that everyone expects you to be. What do you do?

#112 - Posted by: MadMarcus on September 23, 2004 08:58 PM

Dbl G, get it through your Canuck head that we are Americans, therefore we are not, never have been, never will be & will never want to be like you. Fuck your low crime rates. Our crime rates drop when our citizens are armed & rise when they're disarmed. That's just how we are. We may be more violent, but we're also more inventive, generous & revolutionary.

#113 - Posted by: MadMarcus on September 23, 2004 09:15 PM

MadMarcus, That was absolutely the best response regarding Rusty's question I think ANYone could have written, You have talent.
The response to DblG was right on the money, you can't totally blame the point of view though, Those of us who live here are constantly spoon-fed cozy myths about how good we are treated and how much the rest of the world likes us. There is a Liberal media bias here that would make any thinking person from any other part of the world puke. We have been dominated by Liberals for much of our history. We live fat and happy for one reason only: We live next door to a superpower.

Did it again, above comment is mine

#115 - Posted by: defleotard on September 24, 2004 12:30 AM

ok answer this mad marcus how the hell do they not get a job when in school my blonde hair adn fair skin are discrimated more against than a colored person just cuz u come from the damn hood doesnt give u reason to sell crack and blacks have easier opportunities for college easier ways to recieve a job (equal opportunity, affirmative blacktion) plus i am forced to learn these damn mexicans cultures not the other way around and let me ask u some ?s take a song "play that funky music white boy" now if that was play that funky music black boy it would considered racist ok and another exacple NAACP (national association for the advancement of colored people) now what would happen if it was NAAWP hmm jesse jackson would throw his little nigger fit and then someone would feel bad and ban the organization calling them nazis well then what the hell are the black people who have organizations like this i recieve more descrimation than blacks... blacks have a better opportunity to succeed in society than whites but blacks do not take advantage of it

#116 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 26, 2004 04:40 AM

ok let me ask u people this why do white people feel bad about slavery it is what made the USA what it is and it wasnt us i had nothing to do with slavery but for some reason i have to pay for it... such bullshit... and these black people expect pitty from me for this most kids give it to them i dont

#117 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 26, 2004 04:43 AM

ok now just to follow suit i guess i will defend germany people get off calling nazis such bad terrible people for killing 6 million people now look at the US and the indians we almost exterminated a whole race and u know what we catch no shit for that cuz u know what i wasnt there i feel no pitty for engines or jews....all this a bit off topic yes i know but still its a major issue today... there will be a race war soon and im sure assualt rifles will be used lol

#118 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 26, 2004 04:48 AM

i didnt displace any indians why should i have to pay for their reservation???????? thats total horseshit

#119 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 26, 2004 03:57 PM

Hey Rusty, try this one: I work for an oil company, I hire different companies to construct the sites where the gas wells will be. In the last 5 years we have entered into an agreement where the local rez will get to build 3 out of every 4 of the sites. The government basically gave them the heavy equipment yet they still can't meet their payroll or their bills. This is guaranteed work! And at $50,000 to $250,000 you would think it would not be that difficult. What gets me is they claim a right to the land. Why? are they older than me? Is their great gandfather older than mine? Some things that the Indians don't want to talk about: What happened to the indians that the current indians drove off the land? Ever heard of the anasazi? Why are Indians in Washington so upset over the discovery of a pre-historic caucasian skull that pre-dates any of their ancestors? If all the Indians were supposed to have crossed from Siberia to alaska , how come there is evidence in South America that pre-dates any in North America? Well to make a long story short there are certain groups in our society that will always take the the poor me route through life instead of getting on with their lives and joining the rest of us. If I took the Indians point of view and threatened land claims everytime I did not get my way well I guess I would have to make my way back to Russia and lay claim to my anceteral homeland...Yah that would go over really well and I would end up with a bullet in the back of the head

sorry for getting everyone off topic wiht what pisses me off more than banning my beloved weapons but think of this lets say they knock off the 2nd ammendment now whats holding them back from lets say the 1st now that they have their foot in the door

#122 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on September 28, 2004 06:04 PM

wish I could comment, but Canada does not have the right to bear arms written into its constitution, I think The US citizens are lucky despite what others may think about gun nuts and the rest of it, At least you get a point from which to defend your rights, don't ever give it up.

#127 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on October 8, 2004 06:13 PM

Maybe the US should just nuke the whole world and repopulate it so it has our american ideals so them damn muslims dont spread their filth everywhere. Screw the europeans too. Them duschbags are about as smart as a brick. And there is no use for a retard civilization. Then we will need to ethnic clense the US. Any beaners, niggers, and chinks will be exterminated. I guess we can leave them crazy canucks alone. They probably couldnt even take over Kuwait so they wont be that big of a problem for the US so no need to worry about them.

Or maybe we could open up a hunting season on beaners, niggers, and chinks. Beaners are worth 50 bucks, niggers are 100, and chinks are 500 cause there aint that many around here.

#131 - Posted by: rusty shackleford on October 8, 2004 07:08 PM

I'm a white boy, I have listened to some rap, Doesn't mean I like it. I am amused to see a race of people put all their hopes and dreams in the pocket of a few illiterate rappers who espouse a lifestyle that will only get their own fans incarcerated or worse.I am sorry Rusty I don't have much opinion about African Americans, the city I live in has maybe 1 family of them >>>> But on the other hand: Another thing that amuses me are tree-hugging hippies. you know the kind: you see them sitting on a street corner playing the bongos for spare change, they usually have a pierced toungue or nose. A poor dog is drafted in to service to be their companion because they stink so bad no one else can stand to be near them. I think it's funny they all want to express their individuality yet they all look alike. We had a funny incident happen up here: A bunch of tree hugging hippy faggots (and dykes) were blockading a logging road by setting up camp on it and not letting anyone through to their jobs, so late one night a bunch of local good old boys took their pickups and drove right over the camp , sleeping bags and all!!! cool eh?

#132 - Posted by: defleotard on October 8, 2004 11:55 PM

Hello Again, all you rednecks!!! It’s been while but I see
Defleotard and rusty shackleford are still the same “bum-chums” that they have always been.
Great story about the people being run over by good old boys (A.K.A. red necks skids) really shows your value of human life. WOW?! As you probably didn’t notice I was away for the last three weeks or so on vacation to Ireland. And for the first time in my life I picked up a 12-gauge shotgun a fired off a few rounds at clay pigeons with a buddy. Now as I said before I’ve never shot “any” type of gun before, but was asked to joint a competition for armatures on my very first day. For every 20 “skeet’s” launched I shot down about 17 (must be the video games). Now my attitude on full-auto assault rifles is still the same, which is there is no need for them and anyone who “hunts” with them is a puss. But for non-lethal sport shooting I have a completely new look on the subject. And Yes AC/DC does rock, I saw them live in Toronto at the Sars benefit concert, they blew everyone away! Well lunch is almost over and I got to get back to work, talk to you gun tooting hill-billies later.

#133 - Posted by: Dbl G on October 12, 2004 02:10 PM

DBL G, good to hear that you are back and as argumentative as ever, even though your point of view just invites harassment. I realize that we are fairly anonymous pecking away at keyboards who knows where. I think I have given some strong hints as to my geographic location, But please god tell me you are not from Toronto! Even you must realize that those who live in such a place forfiet any right to have an opinion on something as important as gun control.

I have shot some trap and skeet, back when those types of activities were allowed for a high school field trip.

And oh ya those slimey hippies you showed concern for were not hurt just scared. As the poor forestry workers are when assh*les like these came into their town and tried to take away their industry. And that is what life is all about isn't it? Or do you have a job and a lifestyle that would allow you to spend your time protesting the rest of us making a decent living for our families. And before you tackle me on environmental destruction don't even try, Unlike alot of people I have seen 30year old cut block that looks as good as the old growth on the same hill, and I have replanted back to trees the areas that have been used for oil and gas exploration.

#134 - Posted by: Defleo on October 14, 2004 12:02 AM

defleotard, good call on the location although im not quit in Toronto but friggin close. The gun problem in Toronto is only getting worse I agree with you there, but it’s not the guns that are robbing people it’s these little street thugs ages 15 – 22 that are out there trying to prove to the world that they are “Hardcore”. I’ve never had one of these thugs pull a gun on me but I’ve had a knife pulled on me, he was trying to show off to his 5 or 6 friends that he had some sort of power over me. That feeling quickly left him after I shoved my thumb in the little bastards eye, and proceeded to boot-fuck him until I could hear whimpering. I blame the parents for not teaching their offspring the subject of respect, with all these Bullsh*t laws passed we now have kids that have more law backing them than their parents ever had or do have now. You can’t even spank (not beat, spank) your child when they are misbehaving, anymore. PARENTS WHY IS YOUR TV RAISING YOUR KIDS?!?!? Talk to the child; get a relationship with them so they don’t rob me in 10 years. My generation is F*cked, we all know this but what is the next generation going to be like if we don’t start to teaching our kids right from wrong and respect.

And on the subject of the environment, I’m not a tree hugging hippie or anything, but I’ve done the summer job of planting trees, what college student hasn’t? “God, that job sucked”. To keep a stable forest growing and thriving it’s pretty simple, you cut a tree down plant two… Another thing is that Canada has a MASIVE reserve of oil, but the “hippies” will do anything and everything to stop anyone from drilling it even though it would help out Canada’s economy out 1000X fold. But seeing as we have a bunch of Bitches running this country, and they are too afraid to step on any ones toes so they do nothing about it (defleotard would you agree with that?) I say beat the “hippies”, drill the oil, and sell it to the Yanks south of us and have them depend on us for a change.

#135 - Posted by: Dbl G on October 15, 2004 02:04 PM

I get what your saying Defleo, I would get mighty pissed off as well if some outsider came on MY turf and tried to tell me what to do. I get pissed when my boss comes over and tries to tell me what to do. I got ya.

#136 - Posted by: Dbl G on October 15, 2004 03:48 PM

DblG I agree with you regarding the kids, I don't know if its just a story we tell ourselves when we get older ( I am only 14 years out of school ), But even in my little town I have seen a total lack of respect or even shame with some of the things the kids do now. But then again I was lucky to grow up in a 2 parent family.

As I said before I do work for an American oil company, and I do appreciate the oportunity, but you would be surprised to find that Canada does not hold title to the oil and gas that comes out of the ground. Did you know that in times of a shortage we must supply the needs of the states before ourselves? There is no going back, you can thank NAFTA for that. Sure we get paid for it, but does money burn good in your gas furnace?

I wish i could have gone to the Sars concert you talked about, I want to see Angus before they call it quits, I had a chance e few years ago in Vancouver, but only got to see the opening act when the girlfriend got a headache and we had to leave.

And oh ya, I never actually had to plant the tree's, but you are right it has got to be one of the hardest jobs in the world. The poor bastards out here that work for the big forestry companies have to pay for their meals and camp cost out of the tree count.

#137 - Posted by: defleo on October 16, 2004 06:29 AM

WOMEN!!! How is it possible that they can have anything go wrong with them at the perfectly wrong time?! defleo, I spend $404 for two tickets to the Summer Sanitarium Tour; Deftones, Limp Bisket, Metallica, Lincon Park etc... My Ex lasted three songs of the FIRST BAND and passed out for no reason. Needless to say I had to carry her ass out of the Sky dome after only 30 minutes... NEVER BRING A DATE TO A CONCERT!!! girlfriend's, first dates,.

And back to the topic at hand, I think that the Kids of today are a direct reflection of how the world is changing for the worse. We idolize these average people who just happen to be on a TV show, or who sings a song and put them on pedestals. Public Enemy # 1. Paris Hilton “the biggest WHORE to ever step foot on this earth!!!” she was born with a silver spoon, and had ample opportunity to use that to her advantage. And how does she use this unparallel gift? She makes a sex video and leaks it onto the Internet and becomes and instant household name. Now kids are overloaded with these images on TV and the Internet, and being an impressionable youth they take all this in and think of it as “the norm”. Now is it the hoe’s (oops!) Mrs. Hiltons fault that nobody can tell if a girl is 15 or 25 now days? of course not and my message to Parents is don’t let you 15 year old daughter walk out of the house dresses like $20 crack whore or your gonna find out that you are a grandparent sooner than you planned. Another idolized celebrity who is no better than the drug dealer selling the drugs to our kids on the street corner is “50 cent.” Now if there was ever a roll model than this guy is the poster boy, he’s only been to jail 4, or 5 times, belongs to a gang, and has been shot over 5 time (in one sitting) class act this guy. Well the Average young male will listen to his songs, thinking that he does make sense (impressionable youth syndrome) and he may not go out and get a gun, but the same mentality is transferred from the song into the kids attitude and that’s where the problem starts.

Some people might say that it’s the medias fault, and yes you goddamn right it is, these are the same people who brings these types of images in the youth. But the only difference between Celebes and the actual media is that the media has a choice on what to show and what to leave on the cutting room floor. But they choice SEX, everything about anything today is about sex, McDonalds even sells their dirty little burgers with sex. When I was a wee youth, Ronald McDonald was the only convincing I needed to go to McD’s. Is there anyways to stop the media and their representation of how the world is? No, but it’s up to us and parents to teach the next gen what is real and what is reality TV type rubbish. Must talk to the kids.

#140 - Posted by: Dbl G on October 18, 2004 11:45 PM

"Yo' asshole", why dont you try to correct the canadain government. not american things. you fuckin pricks need to be taught a lesson. i say bomb the shit out of asshole like you. flamer.

#141 - Posted by: Garth on October 19, 2004 09:24 AM

Yea Dbl G. Why dont you meddle in Canada's business, not American things. Got to canadian websites if you want to flame us.

And what is up with Canadian Bacon. Jeezus Christ, call it ham.

#142 - Posted by: killcanada on October 19, 2004 09:50 AM

Garth you ok buddy, you’re getting a little emotional over this, huh? Im not hear to correct anyone or anything for that matter, im just here to state my opinions on the certain topic’s that have been brought up on this site. I didn’t see the “No Canadians” sign on the page. Canadian bacon is a better cut of meat that’s all “K.C”, and if you want to play that game what the hell are “freedom fries”?! Are you planning to rid the world of those Evildoers “the Farmer’s”, you going to liberate the Potatoes to give them the freedoms to have a chance at democracy and have a free nation for themselves? Garth my little semi retarded friend, I think you are the one who needs a lesson…a lesson in Grade 4 grammar and punctuation. Read a book!
I talk about topics that affect both our countries, not just Canada and not just the US.

#150 - Posted by: Dbl G on October 26, 2004 10:31 AM

well guess what there old buddy. we do not have to worry about the communistically influenced assault weapons ban anymore. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA there BILL CLINTON and OLD LADY BAG FEINSTEIN AND OF COURSE NOTORIOUS THE REVERAND JESSE JACKSON[ at least he says he is a reverand.

#151 - Posted by: herbert on November 15, 2004 02:46 PM

there have been some very insightful comments on this forum.

it seems a shame that, in the midst of such thoughtful commentary, some inbred morons, or intentionally inflammatory commie rabblerousers, must spout the inane horshshit that they do.

but then, that's what a democracy is for, so that everyone can have an opinion, no matter how ridiculous and worthless it is.

i will gladly fight and die to protect the rights of such dickless, witless, spineless twinks.

Semi auto rifles are SWEET!
gun bans are for liberal buttholes.
outspoken racists are worthless wastes of protoplasm.
educated gun owners and conservatives with a heart are the future of this world, as you will see in the next few years.

keep arguing, folks.
it's healthy.

buy now!

Hi, I'm Kevin! I hate those dirty liberals in California!!! Those darn pessimists....... all they think is that our Assualt rifles will kill our children.... well so will the pistols and the knives and the M80s and the shotguns and the arrows and all those dangerous fireworks. I own a AR-15 and i say SCREW YOU LIBERALS!! You won't get my guns until you pry em' from my cold dead fingers!!!

#158 - Posted by: Kevin on January 25, 2005 01:10 AM

ALSO!!!! Guns don't kill people....it's the people who kill people!! Guns can't walk and pull its own trigger! Can anyone tell me the reason liberals want to have a assault rifle ban??? Doesn't make any sense... why assault rifles? Why not all the semi-auto guns too? Whats so special bout assault rifles?!
If you ever got robbed and wanted to kill or wound that bastard that broke in ur house, then always have a trusty .45 Rugar at hand >:)!
