The Choice is Now Yours
Posted by Frank J. at 07:17 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (21)

It was some hard work, but I've picked my ten favorite subtitles. There were a lot of great ones that didn't make the cut for one reason or another, and I'll probably do a post of all my favorites later.

Without further ado here are the finalists... right after a word from our sponsors.

Buy a Nuke the Moon t-shirt today! It will make you more intelligent, extremely attractive to the opposite sex, and may grant you super powers! Buy one before they're all gone!

Thanks for staying tuned. Here are the finalists:

"You can have any humor you like as long as it's black." submitted by Brian Noggle

"...because where you work won't let you look at porn"
submitted by Michael DeFelice

"Unfair. Unbalanced. Unmedicated."
submitted by Mike Krempasky

"...truth, lies, and everything in between"
submitted by condrieu

"Let's play Cowboys and Liberals!"
submitted by John Collins

"...throwing grenades, seeing what blows up"
submitted by Chris Rowe

"...political satire from the mind of a clever and gifted ninja fighting, monkey hating, katana wielding engineer"
submitted by Serenity

"...infinite possibilities; finite intelligence"
submitted by Mike Spitzer

"...riding the Cycle of Violence since July 9th, 2002"
submitted by Jennifer

"...a weapon of laugh destruction"
submitted by Tom the Friendly Ghost

Congratulations to all the finalists. I've made my choice, but it's ultimately up to you, my readers, what the new subtitle will be and who wins the t-shirt. Please, one vote per person.

THE POLL IS NOW CLOSED; RESULTS ARE HERE

The running poll results will not be visible to keep the winning subtitle a surprise. Tune in Friday morning to find out what the new subtitle is and who wins the t-shirt.

Bah! I was ready to vote for any of mine if they came up, but the others are really, really good. I'll have to think about it.

Whar?1? There was no vote for a gratuitus monkey joke.

#2 - Posted by: Chris on June 18, 2003 08:14 AM

I don't want my site to be all about monkeys. Only let one in that mentions monkeys.

#3 - Posted by: Frank J. on June 18, 2003 08:30 AM

I think that "because where you work won't let you look at porn" is by far the best

#4 - Posted by: Mike D... I Mean John Smith on June 18, 2003 11:25 AM

Those were brilliant. It was difficult to choose.

I think you might consider rotating the subtitle to include more of them and choose not to give anyone a free T-shirt (send a free one to me, instead, for this suggestion).

Wow! Those were all good but Serenity's is by far, the best one! Vote for her!

#6 - Posted by: Anonymous person who is not Serenity on June 18, 2003 04:19 PM

Cycle of Violence. Heh! I did enjoy that visual. Since "Yes! We have no bananas!" was not a choice, I went for that one. Maybe we can get a new picture of Frank J. riding the cycle on his About Me page? One can hope.

I'm bummed. My mail wasn't delivered to your site! (This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 24 hours on the queue on clio.hmdns.net.

The message identifier is: 19S10Y-0008L9-00
The date of the message is: Mon, 16 Jun 2003 13:54:15 -0700

It was:

"Hug your children with Nuclear Arms!"

"Shoot The Moon!"

"Monkeys, Musings And Rarrumsfeld"

"Splitting Atoms, Skulls & Sides With Equal Ease"

"Making Your World, MY World."

"I'm not evil, I'm just misunderstood."

Ah well, I'll never win that free T-Shirt now.

#10 - Posted by: Orion on June 19, 2003 02:13 AM

er...Orion, I got the same message just now but obviously my mail got through to Frank because one of my entries was picked. Don't take that the wrong way....

Frank--not sure what is going on with your email but at least two people have received that now.

#11 - Posted by: serenity on June 19, 2003 02:42 AM

OH NO! I thought my submission was rejected, but it turns out my email bounced and Frank never saw it.

DAMN YOUS... DAMN YOUS ALL TA HELL.

#12 - Posted by: SteveB on June 19, 2003 02:47 AM

Yeah, that's it, everyone, the only reason your entries didn't get picked is because your e-mail bounced.

heh heh

#13 - Posted by: Frank J. on June 19, 2003 10:42 AM

LOL. No stress Serenity - I freelance so I'm quite used to getting rejected. But I just got the same message again a few hours ago, so I'm reasonably sure that my - obviously superior - suggestions didn't get through.

It's probably just as well, for if they had, Frank would then have no need for his survey.

I blame the Monkeys. They're clearly trying to force Frank into having an inferior tag line.

Seriously though Frank it did bounce:

No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up, and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.

Thanks, Orion...if you voted for me, I should have about 3 votes. Yay!
