Say It Ain't So, Dubya! Say It Ain't So!
Posted by Frank J. at 11:53 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (41)

I've been hearing rumors that Bush is going to double the budge of the National Endowment of the Arts. We conservatives have been trying to get rid of the NEA for years; we hate art! And we hate artists even more! The only art I find any use for is the martial kind.

Am I missing something? Is all this money going towards sculptures made from the skulls of our enemies? If not, I don't want my money going towards more feces smeared Virgin Mary paintings. Time to really start lobbying the government for a check box on our tax forms that says "Please just spend my money on cruise missiles."

Let's at least hope that there will be some pro-war artist who paints the priceless scene of our troops bathing Baghdad's walls with Iraqi blood. I wouldn't mind to pay seeing that.

The commentaries are fine and all. But how about more pictures of that woman in the blue jeans who wants me to annoy a liberal?

#2 - Posted by: James Joyner on January 29, 2004 12:16 PM

Mr. Joyner needs to get a Stacked & Packed calendar. He could also check out the Republican Babe of the Week at http://www.jerseygop.com/R_babes/index.html.

I love art "made from the skulls of our enemies". Hysterical! Frank- Is your Celtic heritage showing?

#3 - Posted by: Skullcrusher on January 29, 2004 12:25 PM

It is obvious that GW has seen enough Bugs Bunny cartoons to know how to handle liberals. The trick is to show them things that they will run at and then pull the cape away to reveal an anvil. That's all his art talk is about. It's a good focus for the liberals to herd them in one direction while he makes ready the grill.

#4 - Posted by: LibertyBob on January 29, 2004 12:27 PM

That's what I need! A sexy dame to model my t-shirts!

Where do you find sexy dames?

#5 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 29, 2004 12:30 PM

I have a couple in my freezer, Frank. What's your address?

#6 - Posted by: Davy on January 29, 2004 12:34 PM

Where do you find sexy dames?

In my pants.

#7 - Posted by: Joe !! on January 29, 2004 12:36 PM

They say one of the things a woman looks for in a man is a sense of humor. Frank, you should have to carry a cattle prod to keep the women at bay! Could it be that, as funny as you are, you have no sense of humor?? Next thing you know, Al Sharpton will be running for President!

#8 - Posted by: Phil Winsor on January 29, 2004 12:36 PM

Calm down. It's meaningless. It's a token. It's the same as if you were walking down the street and reached in your pocket for some loose change to give to the poor little freezing kid selling pencils on the corner. Funny I never see any or those anymore. Anyway - the amount being talked about wouldn't buy the shipping container for a cruise missile!

#9 - Posted by: Capt. Poopdeck on January 29, 2004 12:45 PM

Some art is cool. Like nose art on fighter jets. I have to agree with you on most all the 'art' that NEA has put out.

This is a bit off topic (if you do not find targets art) but I got to fire my first automatic weapon this weekend when I was in Vegas. Mp5, Thompson, and a 9mm colt. Being a boy in CA where they have closed down most every place to shoot anything, this was quite a treat. I could not believe how heavy the Thompson was, I think the whole experience made me respect the men who used them in war more. If you are ever in Vegas you have got to stop, the staff was great. http://www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/rental.htm
You need more gun posts.

#10 - Posted by: Dark Indy on January 29, 2004 12:45 PM

I wanna learn how to shoot guns...multiple guns... before Maryland outlaws them.

#11 - Posted by: Sierra Nevada on January 29, 2004 12:50 PM

Apparently you should point the "barrel" away from you. And if we're talking multiple guns here, well, I'm no expert, but I'd use both hands if I were you. And you don't have to shout "Bang!" Any quality piece of weaponry, properly loaded, will make the noise for you.

#12 - Posted by: Davy on January 29, 2004 01:04 PM

Joe !!-I am reminded of the saying that "there is only room for one a**hole in my pants"

No feelings were hurt in the making of this joke.

#13 - Posted by: Phil Winsor on January 29, 2004 01:19 PM

I'm guessing there's also something about pulling the trigger in there...a properly loaded gun probably doesn't just spontaneously go "BANG!"...though I am decidedly not an expert either.

#14 - Posted by: Sierra Nevada on January 29, 2004 02:08 PM

So, anyway, all this talk of guns reminded me. There was this big fat kid at school when I was about eight years old - he used to beat me up a lot. I just thought, well, he might have emigrated to the U.S. and, I don't know, maybe moved to your area, and, well, maybe you guys could kill him for me.

#15 - Posted by: Davy on January 29, 2004 02:54 PM

Bush is getting a bit C.R. Azy now. The right has become the left, and the left have just gone completely nuts. What a friggin world.

#16 - Posted by: Mase on January 29, 2004 03:45 PM

sorry Davy, only Rich and Famous people can kill someone and get away with it in the U.S. Why do you think Frank J. wants to become rich and famous?

#17 - Posted by: Dark Indy on January 29, 2004 03:47 PM

I thought maybe the fact that Tony was your Special Friend might cut some ice when it came to getting people...

#18 - Posted by: Davy on January 29, 2004 04:05 PM

Frank:
I hereby demand that you immediately begin selling IMAO t-shirts emblazoned with the phrase:

"Time to really start lobbying the government on our tax forms that says 'Please just spend my money on cruise missiles'."

or I shall never, ever, ever, until tomorrow, read your site again.

That is all.

#19 - Posted by: Doug Stewart on January 29, 2004 04:26 PM

Shazbot! Insert a "for a check box" in between "government" and "on our" in my previous post, if you please.

My demands remain unchanged, though.

#20 - Posted by: Doug Stewart on January 29, 2004 04:27 PM

They should start a new endowment the NEFWTL. The national endowment for white trash living, they could sponser NASCAR and pro wrestling. That would be right up your alley. I understand your point though, you need more than a fourth grade education to enjoy real art anyway

#21 - Posted by: ben on January 29, 2004 05:11 PM

Uh-uh! Art class started in second grade, dummy. You're 'tupid.

#22 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 29, 2004 05:29 PM

Eating paste and fucking your sister dosent count as art

#23 - Posted by: ben on January 29, 2004 05:32 PM

Frank, though I totally agree that the NEA should come to a violent end, as well as all artists willing to take government checks instead of earning it by being a good artist, there is some good art, you just haven't seen it yet.

Please go here: http://www.cordair.com, look at the work of Bryan Larsen, Damon Denys and Quent Cordair in particular, and tell me if you still hate all art.

#24 - Posted by: Chris on January 29, 2004 05:55 PM

Hehe, I wanna cruise missle!!! I bet you can buy one on the black market. Oh, oh, even the internet maybe??? But who to fire it at?? Hey ben, what's your address?

#25 - Posted by: overlord on January 29, 2004 06:00 PM

Dear overlord, Why dont you fire it at FOX news. That way you get rid of the goverment propaganda machine and you kill Bill O'reilly, talk about two birds with one stone. after that make sure to kill yourself so you cant make any more moronic comments

#26 - Posted by: ben on January 29, 2004 06:19 PM

Aww. Ben's my own little troll now. Everyone say hi to Ben and make him feel at home.

#27 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 29, 2004 06:31 PM

Hi pundits, Im glad you adopted me Frank, I will come and console you when G.W.(i stole the last election)Bush loses in a landslide. Hopefully the next president will outlaw guns, so you nuts will have to turn to turn to something else to feel better about your "SHORTCOMINGS"

#28 - Posted by: ben on January 29, 2004 06:39 PM

Say hello to my little friend! I couldn't resist

#29 - Posted by: Dark Indy on January 29, 2004 06:47 PM

Do you have to adopt Ben? I think he's been drinking the bong water again, and its skewed his view of reality.

#30 - Posted by: MorphiusKane on January 29, 2004 07:45 PM

ben scares me. i think i need to go buy another gun. don't have one of the new 50+caliber revolvers yet. does anyone else? are they as wicked as they are described?

#31 - Posted by: conservative cossack on January 29, 2004 09:20 PM

Ben,
Just make sure your comments aren't too profanity laced and you are welcome to keep entertaining us with your little monkey dance.

#32 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 29, 2004 09:47 PM

hey Frank. dont you have a problem supporting a president who is a military deserter?

#33 - Posted by: ben on January 29, 2004 10:40 PM

I was just as angry as you, especially since the
news came out right after I said I hadn't, to my knowledge, ever voted for an official who opted to fund the NEA :P

However, the money isn't going into the NEA general fund, so things like excrement smeared religious figures won't be funded. It's going into a special fund that supports art that "celebrates traditional American themes."

I'm still not very happy about it, but it's not
as ugly as I thought.

#34 - Posted by: Miranad on January 29, 2004 11:05 PM

CC, the .50 cal. revolvers are somewhat overrated. Here's the deal. In order for them to be usefull they have to push a very heavy bullet at a fairly high velocity. Push a big heavy bullet to high velocity means that the shootin' iron has to be about the size of a refrigerator to soak up the recoil.
I've handled them and shot one. They're so heavy that carrying one in a belt holster would result in a backache. Muzzle blast was unpleasant. Recoil was managable with a two handed grip. Trouble with that idea is that if God and Col. Colt had intended revolvers to be a two handed proposition he'd have put two handles on them.

#35 - Posted by: Peter on January 30, 2004 12:31 AM

AAWW, shucks. I guess you told me off gooood, didn't ya ben.

#36 - Posted by: overlord on January 30, 2004 12:31 AM

Settle down Frank, all is well, don't you see the trap Dubya is setting for the liberals. No one can match his skill at whup-ass. Even the Sec-o-War didn't see this one coming. If Dubya gives the libs some money for art halls or what ever they will all get together in one place we can bomb with easy and monkeys. Or maybe he plans to give them money the steal it back for more guns/bullets, wouldn't want Buck to run out now would we. Maybe he has some really nasty plan like letting them make their "ART" then saying that that is really a WMD and shipping them all off to gimo. But perhaps he just wants to get them all to vote form him in Nov. so he can be sure to be pres and kill them all at his leasure over the next 4 years.

#37 - Posted by: Jessie on January 30, 2004 02:18 AM

Heh heh! Dance little monkey! More! More!

#38 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 30, 2004 06:35 AM

Actually Ben there is something I've been meaning to ask a "Bush was never elected!" liberal. If the Constitution says you can only be elected President twice and you say Bush was never elected in 2000, does that mean that Bush can run in 2004 and again in 2008?

#39 - Posted by: Frank M. on January 31, 2004 10:03 PM

Hell yes, We love your thinking. We were starting to get worried when someone told us that by the time we will finish basic and many years of schoolin' to kill, BUSH aint gonna be the pres. But now we can sleep easy thinkin' we will get some to.

#40 - Posted by: Many ROTC & NROTC Cadets on February 1, 2004 01:17 PM

Frank,

Since your site promotes traditional American values, and it is a humor site and humor is an art form, and you like money.... Anyone know how to fill out an application for an NEA grant?

Yours,
Wince
