Our Military VI
Here are some more military stories I've been e-amiled. Thanks again to everyone who's e-mailed and I'll try to put them all out eventually. My dad who - by the way - served in Vietnam has a few anecdotes I always like, so I'll have to see if he'll write them out. Once again, there is no editing so beware of foul language that might soil thine ears. * * * * Drill Sergeant Rob disputes a few things said previously: Hey Frank,
You posted my story from Osan about my Air Force brethren and more enjoyably sistren, muchas gracias it cracks my friends up.
One thing to remember about guys who are remembering their military past is that back when they were in, they probably didn't like the guys they hung around with - while if they were to run into one of them in the present, they'd probably just about kiss them.
My father, Jack Kingsbery, was a bomber group crew chief in England during WWII. Here is one of his stories... * * * * I have a backlog of more to put up, but keep it coming. If you have military experience (first-hand or second-hand) I'd love to hear more jokes and anecdotes. E-mail me with the subject "Military". 22 Responses To "Our Military VI"
FIRST! #1 - Posted by: Dave in Texas on April 9, 2004 12:05 PMArg! Foiled again! You sly Texans! what...you don't like texans...or just the ones who poop their pants? #4 - Posted by: adam on April 9, 2004 12:36 PMYou know, I paid a little over $2000 in taxes last year. I hope every penny of it goes to making cold beer for our servicemen and -women. That was a great story. My uncle was ground crew for the army air core during WWII too. He was stationed in India though ... I don't think they had beer there at all.
This is great stuff Frank, keep it up! #6 - Posted by: Robin Munn on April 9, 2004 02:50 PMJust not the ones who push their way to the front of the line ;) #7 - Posted by: Miranda on April 9, 2004 07:56 PMTexas? Only steers and queers come from Texas, and you, Dave, don't look much like a steer. #8 - Posted by: 655321 on April 10, 2004 07:01 AMThe Army was founded in 1776, not 1796. http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/faq/birth.htm The Army's motto should be "Kicking ass since 1776." #9 - Posted by: Michael on April 10, 2004 09:19 AMWow, that was funny. Last time I heard some loser ask me "Texas? you know what comes from Texas don't ya"? I answered "your paycheck". He didn't have anything else to say.. #10 - Posted by: Dave in Texas on April 10, 2004 10:40 AMDrill Sergeant Rob, *Grin* Great comeback. Besides, Texas is the one place where Republicans are still doing their job - running the Democrats out of the state! #12 - Posted by: Miranda on April 10, 2004 04:14 PMPeach Daquiris? Quite a few Jarheads learned the hard way that squids make up for their lack of unarmed combat training with sheer insanity. I was in an A6E squadron of 350 of the rowdiest, brawlin'est maniacs I've ever had the honor of knowing. These guys weren't pencil pushing nancyboys (well, a few were, but they're a necessity and marine units have em too - they just act tougher). All this and its rated in the top 5 most dangerous jobs on earth form job hazards alone - plus you will be THE target in the event of naval warfare (we had the massive USSR navy to contend with back then). The snipes and blackshoes down below often had it just as bad too. In summary, such an environment does not give one an appetite for "Peach Daquiris". On a more conciliatory note, it was usually only the noob jarheads that started fights with us in Scum Diego or on Magsaysay drive (and almost invariably lost). None of us had even heard of daquiris and "peach" was a term reserved for...well, something else entirely lol. #14 - Posted by: Flyondwall on April 10, 2004 06:17 PMActually, the first organized American military, the Royal American Rifles, was organized in the 1760's. Of course they were marching under the wrong flag, but they were the first domestic regulars... #15 - Posted by: Richard McEnroe on April 10, 2004 06:25 PM4/19/1775 American Revolution begins.
lol... Flyondwall read a whole lot more into that daquiri comment than I meant by it. I was actually just responding to the Marine's comments. And even that was all in good fun. I certainly didn't mean to call anyone's manhood into question... Geez, don't get your panties in a wad. (oops...couldn't resist :) ) #17 - Posted by: Drill Sergeant Rob on April 10, 2004 09:56 PMIm sorry. Didn't mean to sound defensive or direct it at you either. *shrug* #18 - Posted by: Flyondwall on April 12, 2004 07:11 PMhttp://www.campfireoutfitters.com/, http://www.bike-gear.net #19 - Posted by: Frank Green on August 11, 2004 12:50 AMMy respect!
