It Is Done
Posted by Frank J. at 10:03 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (37)

There, I made my picks for the IMAO t-shirt babe, and it was almost cruel limiting it to five... but hey, I like cruel.

I'm still waiting on about half the judges, and, from the looks of things so far, it's going to be a close competiton.

UPDATE: I just got my gun safe! Okay, that has nothing to do with this post, but I didn't feel like doing a separate post for it. Now my "guns" can be "safe".

I'm happy to report I just purchased the NTM tshirt!

Go Serenity and Miranda!

#2 - Posted by: beo on April 30, 2004 10:19 AM

I bought mine a week or so ago. Do you have any idea when those are shipping, Frank? I'm going camping in a couple weeks and some of the people coming on the trip are annoying hippie-types.

I'd love to have my Nuke the Moon shirt to wear.

You have to ask Doug. He says late April, and it doesn't get any later in April than today :)

#4 - Posted by: Frank J. on April 30, 2004 10:37 AM

Have you previously mentioned what sort of gun safe you've acquired?

Yep, I'm in the market for one myself. Not for my guns, mind you - I just need some place to hide the bodies.

#5 - Posted by: Russ on April 30, 2004 10:46 AM

Thanks, Beo :)

#6 - Posted by: Miranda on April 30, 2004 10:50 AM

I have a question, with the end of capitalism tomorrow, does that mean Home Depot is going to be closed? Cuz if so, I need to get over there today and buy some miracle grow, mulch, and a few other things my house needs.

Oh and don't forget your waffles

#7 - Posted by: Conservative_D on April 30, 2004 10:52 AM

OT: I also got an email from Tony Pentin in my spam box, which I deleted without reading. But then I got to thinking, someone should forward his spam to his email provider so they will terminate him. I didn't look to see where it came from, but I know hotmail and others will terminate a person for sending unsolicited, abusive mail.

#8 - Posted by: Merrijane on April 30, 2004 10:59 AM

Merrijane,

I think we should let him spew his socialist filth, that way we can all make fun of him when it never, ever happens.

#9 - Posted by: Dan on April 30, 2004 11:13 AM

Damnit, I totally forgot capitalism was ending tomorrow. Now I'll have to stop at Publix on the way home to stock up on Ho-Hos, Dial, and Camel Lights.

It'll be years before the new socialist regime comes up with a decent snack food or deoderant soap. To say nothing of cigarettes.

But on the off chance that the socialists don't take over tomorrow, I say we all meet here in Frank's comment section around 7 pm for a beer or two. You know, to celebrate the continuation of capitalist oppression.

See ya there Sandor.

When they outlaw gunsafes, only criminals will own gunsafes.

#12 - Posted by: John Beck on April 30, 2004 11:37 AM

I agree with merrijane, I don't appreciate the six messages I got in my email box with the subject line f*** you.

#13 - Posted by: Megan on April 30, 2004 11:45 AM

If capitalism is really ending tomorrow then my Reagan Revolution shirt will be 'in' while standing in line at the gruel counter.

#14 - Posted by: El Jefe on April 30, 2004 12:09 PM

Can we hang on to capitalism till, say next Wednesday? I'm tryin to close on our refi.

#15 - Posted by: Dave in Texas on April 30, 2004 12:22 PM

Dave: Not to worry. Capitalism is only ending in the limey's small mind, and will not have an effect on the rest of the world.

El Jefe: No gruel for Republicans voters!

Russ: Gun safes are not good to hide bodies, unless properly wrapped in airtight containers, although placing the body (ies) in a safe, then dropping the safe into a deep body of water will prevent said body (ies) from appearing at an inopportune time.

To all: Please note that the email address attached to this comment formerly belonged to a Mr. Philip Winsor. Unfortunately, Mr. Winsor suffered an accident while exploring the 9th dimension and is no longer with us.

how far have i fallen? to go from being mentioned in the Limey's letter to not even getting the email!! oh, wait, i should be happy. nevermind.

#17 - Posted by: sarahk on April 30, 2004 12:47 PM

--No, Dave... no need to refi anymore. Just give the house up to the state and they'll decide who needs to live in it. Don't worry, depending on how many dependents you have, they'll give you a nice hovel to live in.

--I hear you, Sandor... I'm gonna have to stop off at Costco on the way home and do a tornado prep shopping spree. (I don't really think capitalism will end, but it's fun to buy all that stuff anyway... then just look at it and say "Damn, it's great to be a capitalist!")

#18 - Posted by: Devil Dog on April 30, 2004 12:47 PM

--SarahK... no doubt his limeyness has fallen for you. He will probably be sending you emails of a different sort now.

--Let him down easily (into the boiling oil, of course).

#19 - Posted by: Devil Dog on April 30, 2004 12:49 PM

Worfin,
I don't know, it might effect the rest of the world -- in that as soon as Limey shoplifts on the grounds that he is simply 'redistributing' the wealth, somebody's going to have to pick up the tab to keep his clueless rear in jail.

#20 - Posted by: Nony Mouse on April 30, 2004 01:00 PM

Well, I got his emails... thanks, Limey! But wait.. what's this? I ALSO got one from Jim Hake, from Spirit of America, and he says that they're shipping all the equipment out tomorrow. LONG LIVE CAPITALISM!!

He also said: "We have received $1,532,931 in donations in the last two weeks".

Yeeehaaaww!! You rock, my fellow capitalists!!

In your face, Limey. Oh and, you slimey wanker... dicks are for chicks!

#21 - Posted by: Lydia on April 30, 2004 01:02 PM

To all that decide to email the limey complaining they didn't get his hate mail, don't forget the preferred closing:

"WANKER"

Nony Mouse: Once limey realizes he is a drag on the system, he will immediately commit honorable seppuku, saving us all a lot of grief, but leaving a huge hole in our daily ration of laughter.

#22 - Posted by: Lord Worfin on April 30, 2004 01:24 PM

So I went to Home Depot and warned them about tomorrow, they acted like I was crazy!!!! They are part of the conspiracy!!! Then I went to McDonalds, they said they were going to be open tomorrow too, I tell you it's everywhere, they are all out to get me. Wait, they aren't out to get me, I am not a Limey!

WANKER!

#23 - Posted by: Conservative_D on April 30, 2004 01:31 PM

Could Pentin's "coalition" be considered a terrorist organization? I mean, what if the Spinach Militant has been taking flying lessons, or what if Johnny Dope has been constructing nefarious explosive devices in Tony's mom's basement? Should we be reporting them (him) to Homeland Security? Seeing as how the "coalition" is going to put an end to capitalism tomorrow?

#24 - Posted by: beo on April 30, 2004 01:36 PM

Hey, if the Limey wants to commit seppuku, then maybe we should leave him a dull, rusty knife.

#25 - Posted by: Nony Mouse on April 30, 2004 01:41 PM

I'm going to buy me a nice value meal at mcdonalds tomorrow and just throw it out, just to spit in the face of the crooked toothed socialist

#26 - Posted by: Dan on April 30, 2004 01:53 PM

Too bad the May Day celebrations were cancelled in London. I wonder what the Limey will do instead...

#27 - Posted by: John on April 30, 2004 01:55 PM

Well, I suppose if I get a nice hovel, we can go ahead and dispense with capitalism this weekend.

Hey! I don't have to balance my checkbook this weekend. Bonus!

#28 - Posted by: Dave in Texas on April 30, 2004 02:01 PM

The true lazy american no longer balances his/her checkbook.

He goes online and checks the balance.

Lord Worfin-

who the hell do you think you are, quoting esoteric, long forgetten Peter Weller movies? (hold on, I just dropped my overthruster)

#32 - Posted by: Vtwin on April 30, 2004 04:18 PM

oh, Devil Dog, i hope you're wrong! your suggestion that the Limey has fallen for me made me cringe in fear... now that i've boarded up the windows, locked & loaded my weapon and sharpened Minerva's claws, i feel a little better, but i'm still shuddering... and if that was a sneaky compliment, thank you, and if it wasn't, um, nevermind.

#33 - Posted by: sarahk on April 30, 2004 07:53 PM

Why is that you are not posting today Frank ?
Are you not a capitalist any more ?

#34 - Posted by: Amphitryon on May 1, 2004 03:29 PM

Spacemonkey: Riccola! That'll clear that cough right up.

So far as convincing Frank J. to actually shoot some swag your way? I dunno... he's pretty funny and all, but doesn't really strike me as the type to go 'round passing out free tshirts to every Tom, Dick and Spacemonkey who starts up a fan site.

I'm not saying he's a tightwad or anything... just that he has other priorities. He just bought his first gunsafe. Now he'll realize how much room he has in there, and will want to fill it.

Nooo Russ, not with bodies, even tho Lord Worfin made an excellent point.

With more GUNS. The problem here is, one day you realize you've got too many guns for your gunsafe, and so you buy another one. Which then looks woefully empty... You see the cycle here, yes?

But don't you fret Spacemonkey. Luckily for all of us, Frank J.'s tshirts are competitively priced, so it should only take a couple of weeks of collecting empty beer cans to buy one!

Who said drinking beer wouldn't pay off?

#35 - Posted by: krakatoa on May 1, 2004 03:33 PM

I had some friends who made quite a bit of cash off turning in cans (and I thought of them when that bit of spam comparing buying beer and turning in the cans vs one of the bubble stocks profits was bouncing around). Of course, this was when $5. could by me dinner for a week, and Taco Bell was my luxury meal on Sunday... five years ago.

#36 - Posted by: Nony Mouse on May 2, 2004 03:02 PM

Collecting beer cans for money? Sounds suspiciously like CAPITALISM is still alive and well! Woo-hoo!
