Live, From Java on Fourth in Sun Valley, It's the IMAO 2nd Blogiversary Special
Because the frick'n public library isn't open on Fridays until 1pm (3pm ET). Yay hotspots! You're probably saying to yourself, "Hey, something looks different here. Did you change your font size?" No, I had a complete redesign by Sekimori. Anyway, I'll still have to catch up some new pages to the new template (such as the Peace Gallery), move a few things around and cut the fat, and do a new "About Me" page plus an actual FAQ... with answers! Put suggested questions in the comments. So much to comment on in the news today, but I still have the whole "hang with the family thing." I'll put up a few posts, and see more of you guys after the weekend. BTW, it is "International Link to IMAO Day", and I won't be able to be on much today to see who is not complying, so it's up to you ronin to gently remind those who forget. A new age dawns today, so bask in its glory. UPDATE: Aww. Michelle Malkin is now one of my favorite bloggers as well as columnists. Wish I had the whole day to check out all my friends in the blogosphere, but I need to eat and get going soon. Thank you notes will have to wait for next week. 34 Responses To "Live, From Java on Fourth in Sun Valley, It's the IMAO 2nd Blogiversary Special"
1! #1 - Posted by: beo on July 9, 2004 12:06 PMI think there is far too much red..unless you want to make us all angry. Blue or green would be much more soothing. #2 - Posted by: Josh on July 9, 2004 12:13 PMHey, not too shabby. In keeping with the "Frank J. Standard", seeing red is what it's all about. My only concern is that the whole site still looks like a bunch of blocks stacked together. If the red were somehow shadowed or shaded or "volumafied" or something ... just anything to give some kinda' depth to the design. I do like the new structure, though. #3 - Posted by: Jesse on July 9, 2004 12:20 PMI do believe I failed to mention that today's my birthday, too. Nice present, even if it is a stack of blocks ;P, heh #4 - Posted by: Jesse on July 9, 2004 12:21 PMThis is a nice surprise. I was starting to get worried. Whew! #5 - Posted by: jonag on July 9, 2004 12:21 PMThe lovely and gracious Michelle Maulkin has a pic of her in a Frnak J T-shirt on her Blog in honor of today. #6 - Posted by: Peter on July 9, 2004 12:51 PMYes.The new look is very nice. However,I was so expecting Frank's surprise to be a photo of him in his new car: Question to add to the FAQ: "Are you the most awesomest person in the world?" #8 - Posted by: MagKnightX on July 9, 2004 12:58 PMLove the new look....but there's something I've been meaning to comment on: The picture of Tony Blair on the right--am I the only one who thinks he's sporting a mohawk everytime his picture flashes on the screen? It's disturbing....or maybe I'm just disturbed...hmmmmm... #9 - Posted by: Pam on July 9, 2004 01:23 PMScrew it, Frank. Happy Blogiversity, but I'm outa here. Your site has always been one of the slowest around to load, but jeeminey. Four f*ing minutes for something that depends on bugs in IE to display properly? Bye. Regards, Question for the FAQ Happy Blogiversary, Frank! Unfortunately, I have to agree with Ric on the loading time. Nitpicky editor that I is, me wanna see some text inset in your middle column. Don't like the text hitting the frame edges. Have fun with the family! #12 - Posted by: A Recovering Liberal on July 9, 2004 02:09 PMLoad time (22 secs) and text location are fine with me. I use Netscrape, have the resolution at 1280x1024, and have DSL. Maybe you pickers of nits need a more modern system? VGA and dial-up are so 1992. #13 - Posted by: Drew on July 9, 2004 02:41 PMQuestion for FAQ: I live in the eastern part of the mid-atlantic region. Does this make me middle eastern? #15 - Posted by: Wolf's Dawn on July 9, 2004 04:45 PMHappy Blogiversary!! #16 - Posted by: Wolf's Dawn on July 9, 2004 04:47 PMQuestion: Frank, when is you gonna get married so as we can see you with a woman. IMAO needs some female touches, i.e; boobs. Tim want see boobs! #17 - Posted by: Tim E. on July 9, 2004 05:23 PMAre you going to put the alliance blogroll back in place, or is that gone for good? #18 - Posted by: JohnB on July 9, 2004 05:53 PMAgree with the text touching the left side. Looks amateurish. And it looks like the blue on your links is waaaayy too dark and waaayy too small. It's impossible for an old fart like me to even try to squint at. At least your entries are readable. There are sites like Rabbit Blog and Tony Pierce that use the tiny type there as well. Unreadable. #19 - Posted by: Bill Peschel on July 9, 2004 06:05 PMIsn't it odd that the puppy blender linked to you before your Emperor? My FAQ, Who does FrankJ think is the best troll? #20 - Posted by: Veeshir on July 9, 2004 07:38 PMHappy Blogiversary Frank! #21 - Posted by: LokiDoki on July 9, 2004 11:17 PMOddly enough, last night around midnight central time, I SAW the new layout. I just assumed that all the red was because I was looking at it via a somewhat old data projector (640x480 resolution, but its whomp-ass for movies) as my monitor decided to go out in a flash of glory. Anyway, the projector has a quirk where it often displays a red background as webpages load. It looks good! Me likey! And congrats on your two year run! And more exclamation points!!! Woo! #22 - Posted by: Wonderduck on July 9, 2004 11:47 PMO a 700k connection and very slow to load. Feel sorry for someone on a modem #23 - Posted by: Me on July 10, 2004 12:18 AMLove the new look, Frank. I mentioned your anniversary in my blog as requested, along with one of my many favorite entries. Many more years, Frank. I've learned a lot from you. #24 - Posted by: Denise on July 10, 2004 03:03 AMWith all that red visible when the site was loading, I thought The Limey had returned and hacked the site. Stay away, Limey. This place is a place of death for you. #25 - Posted by: Protagonist on July 10, 2004 12:22 PMI don't know what all the load-time whiners are talking about. I'm on an 802.11g wireless connection and the page loads in about 5 sec. max. Don't listen to them, Frank! Keep it! #26 - Posted by: Trucido on July 10, 2004 01:56 PMwell since 802.11 g is 54mps I guess you dont have a problem. this site was quick it is now very slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow #27 - Posted by: sloooow page load on July 10, 2004 03:57 PMaccording to a web load time test 14.4K 422.80 seconds Puh-leeze. I have a dialup. If I'm lucky, I get 46.6K... usually it's 41.3K. Even with the new layout, IMAO never takes longer than 30 seconds to load. ESPN.com, on the other hand, two minutes or more. The Puppy Blender is around 20 seconds. Maybe I have an I-S-D-N line and don't realize it! Yeah, that's it! Sure! *shaking head* Methinks some people just complain because they CAN. (note: I got a submission error with I-S-D-N without the - between the letters... what the heck is THAT all about?) #29 - Posted by: Wonderduck on July 10, 2004 04:53 PMFrank, I liked the first one that you had in place, and since I have a 33.6K modem, it takes forever to load. #30 - Posted by: Shockwave on July 10, 2004 04:55 PMFAQ: What does IMAO stand for? (this time with an answer..) #31 - Posted by: Washington Conservative on July 10, 2004 10:47 PMI don't like this new red thing frank. its scares me. Your not going commie on us....? #32 - Posted by: James M on July 11, 2004 01:18 AMDammit Frank - I hope that Sekimori guy isn't a friend of yours, because this new layout just isn't doing it...the color scheme is frightening, the layout is horrible, and the load time IS waaayyyyy to slow... Don't take my word for it - have a poll!! I agree with those who think there's too much red, but apart from that, nice redesign. And I'm a little jealous of this blog-flirting with Michelle Malkin! #34 - Posted by: Liz on July 11, 2004 09:32 PMPost a comment
