Ronin Thought of the Day
Posted by Frank J. at 11:00 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (19)

Today's wisdom comes from Master Samurai and former leader of America, Theodore Toshiro Roosevelt:

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft!

A true samurai chooses his battles wisely and decisively.

Theodore Roosevelt: A REAL man (unlike his wannabe cousin)!! Anything Teddy said is worth listening to!!

A good lesson in life, a bad lesson for golf.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting;

I agree, sneaking is better. Ooh, and misdirecting the enemy; that's good too. I like the Bugs Bunny style: Let your enemy run at the red cape, never revealing teh anvil behind.

I used to play this trick on my brother when we were little. We would see who could hit each other the softest. He would go first and tap me in the shoulder. I would say "you win" and punch him as hard as I could. This should be our foreign policy.

Avoid conflict if other avenues remain, but if conflict is unavoidable,
ufck the other guy up real good!

Josh, is your brother in therapy? How about your mom?

#8 - Posted by: Wolf's Dawn on July 15, 2004 02:40 PM

nah, wolf's dawn, my bro used to do the same thing to me, and i turned out just great (if a little psycho).

Of course, nothing beats a good food fight - especially when there's Spam involved!

Tuco teaches us:

"But if you miss, you had better miss very well.
Whoever double-crosses me and leaves me alive...
...he understands nothing about Tuco.
Nothing!"

Love TR! But my evil mind remembered a line by (Egon, can't remember his name in "Stripes" -- "My Dad told me that you should never hit anyone unless you were absolutly sure you could get away with it." Sort of a twisted TR version?

A wise man once said "Hit the soft parts with your fist. For the hard parts, use a tool."

#13 - Posted by: jc on July 15, 2004 08:09 PM

Josh, I still play that trick on my little brothers.

"Get a shot off fast. Even if you miss, it disconcerts the other guy long enough to make your second shot count!" -- Robert A. Heinlein

"In agun fight, I take my time quickly!" -- Wyatt Earp

Continue to gather arms and ammunition in military calibers.

Reflect upon this and ponder.
