Links of the Day
Posted by Frank J. at 06:34 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (22)

Sorry, busy today so no afternoon post. Anyhoo...

While I was gone, Michelle Malkin put out a new book and caused a firestorm. Apparently she's defending the Japanese internment. This reminds me of when Ann Coulter defended McCarthyism which I always understood to be bad, except I understood the Japanese internment to be very very bad. I guess I'll have to read to book... but I don't have time to read (I've been trying to finish Cryptonomicon for a year). Any chance of it being on tape (well, CD)?

Right Wing News has a great reason for some people to vote Democrat. Someone in Tennessee screwed up. John Hawkins also has a very subtle ad against John Kerry.

Davids Medienkritik has the jackass of the day. I'm not ever going to start to deconstruct the idiocy of this one.

Oy. So what are they trying to choose?

This contest is just calling to me. I have such a great idea for a sitcom. Well, I'll write it out, and, if it doesn't win (i.e. the judges are idiots) I'll share it with you guys.

Rating: 4.0/5 (1 vote cast)

Is it my imagination or does "Choice Chick" look just like Jeanene Garafaolo? And she's drinking TAB in the openning scene (TAB is short for Therapeudic Abortion in the medical field, no coincidence there). Haha. Funny. Not.

When did killing babies become comedic fodder?

#2 - Posted by: jonag on August 9, 2004 06:57 PM

Damn you, jonag! (shakes fist then goes back to eating ice cream sandwich)

I can't see anybody else winning the sitcom deal but I hope your idea doesn't involve Chomps. For one, no t-shirt sales when he becomes a hit. Two, how the hell would you cast that part?

#3 - Posted by: Wolf's Dawn on August 9, 2004 06:58 PM

Choice Chick does look like Barfaolo! Interesting choice seeing as how a lesbian has little use for anything from Planned Parenthood.

#4 - Posted by: Wolf's Dawn on August 9, 2004 07:04 PM

Wolf's Dawn, I'll trade you the first spot for that ice cream sandwich. Deal?

#5 - Posted by: jonag on August 9, 2004 07:04 PM

That cartoon was the worst thing I've seen today. Fighting for basic rights!

What right can be more basic than the right to life?

And we all know Kerry/Edwards wouldn't risk breaking a fingernail fighting robots.

Although judgebots would be a great idea...

#6 - Posted by: Chase on August 9, 2004 07:09 PM

If Bush is so against choice, shouldn't he have had his judge-bots attack Baskin & Robbins 31 flavors?

#7 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 9, 2004 07:22 PM

Frank, if you don't win the contest, you're right, the judges are idiots.

#8 - Posted by: sarahk on August 9, 2004 07:54 PM

Frank:

Ann Coulter's books 'Treason' and 'Slander' are out on CD...we got them from the library (way cool people there. I just tell them the books on CD we want, and they almost always buy them! I'm making sure the VRWC is well stocked with reference material.) If you have a long commute, this is an excellent way to 'read'. Definitely changed my view about 'McCarthyism'.

#9 - Posted by: Dixie'Darlin on August 9, 2004 08:10 PM

YES, choice babe looks EXACTLY LIKE Jeanene Garafaolo, and I thought it was just me .... LOL.

I don't see how liberals could feel anything but embarrassment for that little comic.

WILL SMITH, an idiotarian ... who knew? sigh. And I wanted to see "I, Robot" ... (even though it wasn't about the book with same title ... are people so lame that they couldn't have named it appropriately?)

#10 - Posted by: Carin on August 9, 2004 08:24 PM

Hey, Frank, be sure to watch the news in Florida tomorrow. I will be at the Bush rally in Pensacola wearing my Nuke the Moon shirt!

#11 - Posted by: Dixie'Darlin on August 9, 2004 08:26 PM

Come on Frank. In a battle between Aquaman and Choice Chick...

#12 - Posted by: Evilwhiteguy on August 9, 2004 08:33 PM

In a battle between Aquaman and Choice Chick...

Aquaman would slap off Choice Chick's Dorky Buddy Holley Glasses. What kind of Super-Hero wears glasses while Super-Heroing, anyway???

Then trap her in a head lock. Drive her head into a wall several times. While administering Super Noogies and kneeing her in the stomach.

Then frightening Choice Chick into Submission by threatening her with a wire coat hanger!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Yes, Aquaman would finally a fight by beating up on a girl, kinda.

But, let's face it... She deserves it!

Hello Infidels has a new post.

Is America still the country of choice?

Please come by and steal it and mail it to the ends of the earth.

I hope that everyone else was sickened by that. How have WE let the wholesale slaughter of unborn children become a cartoon joke?

-Distraught.

#15 - Posted by: RMS on August 9, 2004 11:03 PM

oooh, and Charlie purfume. hmmmmm. COMMIES! that's a very menacing evil menace. That and what's up with the (I think pretty obviously) male narrator huh? Who's trying to control his body? someone please explain that one to me.

#16 - Posted by: maggie katzen on August 10, 2004 02:02 AM

*Sigh* I Robot, *check* another movie I will not see.

#17 - Posted by: Laura on August 10, 2004 07:33 AM

Well - I can't get to the cartoon, it is blocked (Does it to Rush's site too - GRRR!!!!!) I am glad it does not block NRO - I would really be mad (Although I have been subscribed to that since 1996)

Nothing that PP does surprise me anymore. I think the Democrat theme for abortion is "kill it unless it unfortunatel survives - then subsidize it!"

Books on CD's are cool, I like those. I like to read too, though, so I do both.

I loved that subtle Kerry ad, I need to print that and put it on my post it board here at work.

*SIGH* - I actually liked some of Will Smith's movies - Independence Day (I was the only one in the theatre that cheered when the White House blew up - a bad thing I know - Clinton was really annoying me that year) Don't get me wrong - it had some good points in it, like Europeans didn't like ID or Armageddon because it was pro-American, heh heh, 9Can you see the French coming to the rescue in either film - no!) and had some bad points - Environmental nutlog watermelons always drive me up the wall, and the sheer idocy of some parts (Apple computers save the world by giving alien computers viruses) but I still enjoyed it. I view most movies as entertainment, and look at them in that light. When they try to preach to me about the wonders of leftism, I tend to get upset.

Why do actors go to Europe, and then bash the USA, and expect us to be happy when they do? Don't they have the courage to even voice their concerns here, or are they afraid of Ashcroft putting the smack down on them? (Like he would!) I don't understand the concept of ticking off half the people in your audience just because you think you are a celebrity and should voice every thought you have and expect everyone to agree with you. It is the worst I have seen it, with Springsteen, Pearl Jam, REM, etc. doing it. Good thing I like artists like Carman, Rebecca St. James, and Michael W. Smith, some of whom actually had Bush quotes about Spetember 11th and prayer in some of their songs!!!

I don't see a big chunk of Republican actors and singers going out there and doing that, that's for sure.

The UN being the future of the world? Please.... the only place that happened is in Star Trek, and we all know how real that is. (But ST is still more realistic than packoflies 9-11 and The Day after Never)

The UN is useless. I think the USA should finish off its obligations, pay what we owe, say its been interesting, send that hideous building and the contents of it to Brussels, and start a new organization that promotes freedom, and democratic values, and does not let nations like China, Cuba, and others, in it, much less run human rights committees.

As for I, Robot, I have seen it, and I thought it was a decent summer film.
Any film with Auto-Drive in it has a few points in my book, but those robots reminded me of Macs for some reason (I can see them having different see through colors, etc.) Will's character actually reminded me of some of the old gruffy conservatives I know, hard working, distrustful of technology, etc. Sheesh - Shut Up and Act!

I get a little tired of evil corporations / evil Republicans / evil technology plots however. Isn't there more menacing items out there, like Kerry? ; )

Sorry, a little chatty today.

#18 - Posted by: Scott Sanburn on August 10, 2004 09:59 AM

Good post, Scott.

#19 - Posted by: Trucido on August 10, 2004 10:07 AM

Ha, Kerry menacing? Only towards your tax cuts. " I'll get you, and your little tax cut too little girl, bwahahahah!" Or maybe little vietnamese kids.

#20 - Posted by: Chris Van Dis on August 10, 2004 12:28 PM

*sigh* Reading Will Smith's comments tonight was truly depressing. ID4 and Men in Black used to be two of my favorite movies. Now I'm not sure I can ever watch them, or any Will Smith film, again. Why lie to us and pretend that you actually give a fuck about this country in your movies, Will, when you're such a pinko liberal asshole beneath your cool, smart-ass exterior? Damn you. Damn you straight to hell.

LOL, "The UN being the future of the world? Please.... the only place that happened is in Star Trek, and we all know how real that is. (But ST is still more realistic than packoflies 9-11 and The Day after Never)" As a Trekker who happens to believe the Federation is evil, and who is actually an aspiring TV producer and has an idea for his own Trek series that would espouse such ideas, I found that remark particularly glee-inspiring...
