I just got the sequel to Splinter Cell recently. Incidentally, the last two GameCube games I bought (Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Spiderman 2) both use "hippy" as an insult in them.

You know, the third Splinter Cell is supposed to come out this year. The review I read said that it blows the first two out of the water :-)

I think it would have been better if they had killed their landlord because he gave them their games back, but they were all scratched up. Better as in funnier. But that's just me.

I remember the Land Before Time because I'm officially an Old Fart.
During hunting season my high school's principal's office closet was stacked with rifles and shotguns by those of us who would take the bus to school and hunt our way home. That same closet bulged with fish poles during fishing season.
There wasn't a whole lot of Kumbaya in my neck of the woods.

Am I the only one who really gets tired of the ol' video game debate? I have been hearing it since I was 4.

I still have my Atari 2600 (although I don't need to haul it out anymore - most game systems have Activision best of for the PS2, etc.) I still own a Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Nintendo 64 (Blast Corps is a gem) Playstation, Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance. I will eventually buy a Gamecube. While I like the Xbox, I probably will not buy one, I have too many systems already!

I can't imagine any mass murder being good for business, outside of PP, who seems to profit from it.

I don't think video games cause violence, I think it is a combination of parent neglect more than anything. I have been playing video games since I was 4, and have not killed anyone yet, because I know there is a big difference between fantasy violence and reality.

I still will never forget that day when I was in 6th grade camp, when the Michigan State Police came out and brought out a variety of weapons, including knives, bows and arrows, and guns. They demonstrated on watermelons what would happen with each weapon. The final weapon was an acutal M-16, and it taught me everything I needed to know about what things do to watermelons, or people.

Parents should monitor what their kids play, they should play it with them, an evaluate. Same thing with computers, and with TV, and movies, and tell them what is the truth, that kind of thing.

The last thing we need is a nanny government telling people what they can or cannot do. I can't even go to Burger King anymore without feeling like the government is going to send out the fat police or something.

I'm a PC game kind of guy myself. Right now I'm working through 007: Nightfire. Damn that's a hard game, those levels are so freakin' hard to navigate. Oh well.

Besides, the Mechwarrior series is still better on computer then any other system.

Exile, I still play with sticks and rocks. Hitting rocks with baseball bats does a number on them (the bats). And launching them (the rocks) with miniature catapults is fun, too.

Sweet. I got all that came out so far (It was out when I was in my 4 jobs - going to college full time haze) I love it when hippies get beaten up or consumed by aliens - but it depresses me that they are still around in 3000.

I also got Batman: The Animated Serives Volume 1 - Finally! I had bought all the movies (Mask of the Phantasm, Mystery of the Batwoman, Batman Beyond, etc.) and the DVD's of a few episodes each previously. Very good series if you like Batman.

Ah, yes, the classic Squaresoft role playing games. I think my all time favorite game is Final Fantasy 3 (FF6 in Japan) on the SNES. Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, FF2, etc. I have them all on the Playstation too - in case the cartridges go out on me.

There are some other great games on the SNES - Aerobiz is a great capitalism game, UN Squadron (even if I detest the UN!), Super Metroid, Super Mario All Stars, Legend of Zelda, etc. Good times, I still play them when I have time.

Counter-Strike for the PC, sorry thats all I play (any one who has been to my root knows that). But I do miss my NES, it finaly gave up the ghost about year ago, and I have yet to find an emulator for Ghangis Khan.

Yeah, video game violence is one of the reasons I decided to go to law school - stupid people trying to sue id software after Columbine because those kids played "Doom". And all the laws that were being considered over the last few years - making it a criminal offense to sell a rated "M" game to a kid under 18? And not a similar offense on "R" rated DVD's?

I just got my 'Cube about two months ago, no Xbox or PS2 for me - (although it means missing out on Kingdom Hearts). And I can honestly say that no video game has driven me to kill yet. There was one time I was in a killing rage over Magic: the Gathering, but luckily there were no sharp objects nearby, and it went away after I pictured Godzilla's foot stepping on the guy. (I creamed him in the duel, too).

Man, Xbox is pretty laid back to me. When my friends and I used to play MarioKart on the 64 there was a guaranteed rage. I think we all broke at least two controllers over the span of a few years.

As for Megablocks, I have a few of the sets, but the quality is just not there (They use recycled plastic, LEGO makes their own plastic). I do like the military lines though. TLC's policy on no violence is a little quirky 9Can someone say Star Wars and Wild West sets?), but it is a European company, after all, and that whole continent is quirky.

The only time videogames have made me want to kill is when I found out that Rampage has over 700 levels. How the hell am I supposed to knock down that many buildings?

I got an xBox from the president for Christmas of 68. I played it in Cambodia on my gunboat. It was just like getting shot at by Vietnamese and Cambodian. It was searing, searing good fun.

LOL! My apologies, I guess I am used to talking to adults about LEGO work areas as opposed to toddlers. I think my first LEGO specific area started when I was 5 or 6. I had a huge 2 bedroom area, it had a cut out where a desk was, and that is where my LEGO area was.

i love video games personally.. I am the only female gamer that I know of in my county haha...but anyhow.. I like the violent ones also.. and I agree with some ppl on here.. they do not cause real life violence. They may be a factor yes, but the blame shouldn't totally be placed on them. Personally i think kids/adults/teens that commit crimes and violent crimes have something wrong upstairs to begin with. Drug usage has a factor in this also... hallucinating drugs as a matter of fact. That is what happend in the Dungeons and Dragons incident. The idiots that killed thier parents playing harmless D&D were pumped up on LSD's makeing them see their parents and the world around them as something else. So no video games should not be placed as the cause for violence.
