FIRST!! and.. hows the weather down there haha. nice and pretty out in maine. #1 - Posted by: phazeshift1337 on September 10, 2004 02:48 PMDarn you, phazeshift! I was so close! #2 - Posted by: Katie on September 10, 2004 02:54 PMPretty funny, Frank. Perhaps Gravitas Maximus (God) is trying to keep the Floridians in line this year due to the upcoming elections. Keep out of Ivan's way, you know how those commies are. Nothing worse then Communist Hurricanes. But it did hit Cuba, or is going to, right? Hmm..... Speaking of voting, I am glad that this area in Indiana finally went to scantron type votes this year. The first year I voted down here, there was this huge machine, it looked like a 1890 combine or something, with these levers and some pull handle (I never saw one in Michigan) and I had to ask for help to figure out how to vote with it. I like a paper record and machine scanning, it is recordable, it is recountable, and it is better than those other voting machines.
As a Florida resident, I am seriously thinking of giving up my discount at Disney to get out of this hurricane mess. #5 - Posted by: Brian C on September 10, 2004 03:57 PMI wonder how many "disenfranchized voters" the democrats will claim in South Florida this election due to this hurricane mess. The (unaffected)panhandle is almost solidly Bush territory and will be more than happy to help carry the electoral vote for President Bush's re-election! Yup, I can hear Dan Rather now: "Concerned [Kerry] volunteers are passing out [hand-marked, xeroxed] ballots door to door in hurricane-ravaged Miami-Dade county in an effort to make sure that every [Democrat] "victim" (is that redundant?) has the chance to vote [as many times as possible] in this critical battleground state. [Fraudulent] Hand-counting of these [illegal] ballots is expected to last [as long as it takes until they can generate enough Kerry votes to swing the election in his favor] several days due to the [union] labor-intensive [deceitful, fraudulent, illegal, whining-democrat] process." #6 - Posted by: Rubber(Red)neck on September 10, 2004 04:12 PMP.S. - Do y'all hear news stories with the missing critical phrases inserted mentally every time Dan ["the documents are authentic"] Rather delivers the news...Or is it just me? #7 - Posted by: Rubber(Red)neck on September 10, 2004 04:19 PMYou know, there is a really crude joke to be had from all these hurricanes, but I just can't bring myself to deliver it... #8 - Posted by: No One Of Consequence on September 10, 2004 04:25 PMI work with a bunch of scientists who study weather phenomena, including hurricanes. They all got a huge kick out of this. #9 - Posted by: willow on September 10, 2004 05:15 PMRubber(Red)neck, that was TOO FUNNY! I find myself doing that all the time! On a more serious note, I sent an e-mail to CBS News, for what it's worth, to voice my opinion of the scandal that is quickly approaching. Check out NewsMax, they have a few good articles on the whole deal. If this can be tied to the Kerry people in any way, shape or form, they are DONE!! Amer-I-Can What do you guys think of my new BLOGNAME?? #10 - Posted by: Amer-I-Can on September 10, 2004 05:43 PM At least you have a little land between you and the hurricanes to absorb a little bit of it. I'm glad I live in Seattle where the weather doesn't kill anyone. . . it does, however, sometimes make you want to kill yourself, but at least it doesn't damage the house. Sure, the odd earthquake every 10 years or so can damage a few things, but anyone silly enough to build with brick should know that in advance. I suppose it's just a matter of what you're used to, but get this: when ever it rains here, traffic slows down. We have very slow traffic. If it snows here, everyone just stays home until it melts. Happily, it rarely snows, since Microsoft would be broke otherwise. In contrast, I remember reading a weather report from Minnesota this summer: 4 tornado touch-downs, I-35 N closed since someone's roof was on it, and the comment from the local National Weather Service office: "Well, yes, but we did need the moisture. It's been a dry summer." Y'know, from the vantage point of about 5,000 miles away, it really looks like hurricanes suck. Or should that be 'hurricanes blow'? Either way, good luck. #12 - Posted by: David D on September 11, 2004 10:09 AMFeeling like a frog in a blender yet, Frank? #13 - Posted by: thefoxymama on September 12, 2004 05:26 PMPost a comment
