Links of the Day
Posted by Frank J. at 06:42 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (15)

Greyhawk, who is also heading for Iraq soon, has an exclusive document, but check the comments for doubts by many famous bloggers on its authenticity.

Want to find out what it's like to head to Vegas to try out for American Idol, well, SarahK has the story.

BTW, I saw the movie Hero with SarahK while hiding from Hurricane Frances. I liked it, but Derbyshire, who knows a lot more about China, rips it apart (I agree with the last statement of his review, though).

Here'a great idea in the form of a flash movie (thanks to Major Ownage for the link).

Finally, The Onion has an article so funny, I almost wish I wrote it. The last paragraph is a great payoff, especially if you've seen the movie it refrences.

UPDATE: This document looks so similar to those CBS has that were written in the 70's.

I saw hero not more than 20 hours ago... and it sucked...

BTW... first...

I saw it last night. Let's run down the list.

Chromatic sets, beautiful landscapes, idealisation of one racial physique, exquisitely choreographed military maneuvers. One race, one nation, one Emperor. The highest ideal is to fight and to die willingly for this cause.

Not only was this a fascist movie, it was the MOST fascist movie since the 1940s. Save your money for a rent of "Iron Monkey" instead. At least that one has a monkey in it.

i liked it too. maybe it was the company.

Hah! Greyhawk's post was hilarious. An ingenious way to get the point across in the comments section.

8:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time 9/15/2004

Dan Rather finishes humiliating 86 year old woman and self.

This is just too screwed-up.

I think I know where Dan Rather found the forged documents: in Sandy Berger's pants

#7 - Posted by: CPez on September 15, 2004 09:04 PM

Great flash film featuring Randy Newman's 'Political Science'. That non PC Oldie-But-Goodie should have become the War On Islamo-Fascists' Theme song on Sept. 12th, 2001.

OT: Dan Rather needs to be stripped naked. Dragged through a beach of ground glass.

Then a beach of Rock Salt.

Just my opinion,

Jack.

I found a document too! It's about Rather's service as a White House correspondent.

Quick! Somebody check to see if any of those Republican congresspersons received a typewriter from the TexANG!

Oh, and CPez, they couldn't have come from Sandy Berger's pants. He wears briefs, not memos.

bloody farging hillarious!!!

1) Hero is gorgeous propaganda. You can't apply a political agenda as a measurement of art, they're 2 different spheres.

2) I included u in my pajama atlas of the blogosphere. I'm sure my info on u is 100% correct, as I ran it past my CBS fact checkers

That onion piece is an obvious fake. Everyone knows the topless chick always buys it.

Derbyshire is right about Hero being authoritarian, irredentist propaganda. I liked it a bunch more than he did, on an aesthetic level. And he seems to not understand Daoism, if he thinks the main thrust of the movie was in any sense Daoist. At best, it used some of the trappings of Daoism as intellectual furniture, like a interior designer dabbling in feng shui.

"they couldn't have come from Sandy Berger's pants. He wears briefs, not memos."

Ah, silly me! Thanks for the correction, No One of Consequence.
