Ronin Thought of the Day and Question of the Day
Posted by Frank J. at 10:25 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (26)

Vice President John Garner was to have said of the Vice Presidency:

An office not worth a bucket of warm spit.

So, what is the Vice Presidential Debate worth then?

I think it's not worth staying up to watch.

What do you think?

A debate between Cheney and Edwards? That's a bucket of warm spit poured on the well-coiffed head of a lame duck North Carolina Senator!

#2 - Posted by: me on October 5, 2004 10:36 AM

VP Garner's comment is either quite dated or VP Chaney is unlike any other.

#3 - Posted by: OriginalOrrin on October 5, 2004 10:37 AM

I think it's worth slightly more than that... it's worth 5 extra credit points on my next test in History. Oh, and I can go on about how much Edwards sucks monkeybutt to the dismay of my Marxist teacher. Yay for pissing off the left.

#4 - Posted by: Dan on October 5, 2004 10:44 AM

Actually, John Nance Garner said the Vice-Presidency wasn't worth a pitcher of warm piss; the press reworded it slightly.

#5 - Posted by: aelfheld on October 5, 2004 10:55 AM

me, i'll watch, if only in hopes of seeing Master Cheney take Fluffy in a headlock and give him a noogie. that would be sweet.

#6 - Posted by: sarahk on October 5, 2004 10:59 AM

i'll def watch
should be good...

#7 - Posted by: kanecorp on October 5, 2004 11:01 AM

I'll watch because Cheney will be ignoring the shister and debating Kerry, while Mr. Slip and Fall will attempt to get Cheney's attention adn have a temper tantrum while doing it. Of course, I'll also be watching the Yankees take game 1! W re-elected and the Yankees world champs -- all will be right in the world!

#8 - Posted by: Connecticut Yankee on October 5, 2004 11:09 AM

I'm staying up WAY past my bedtime just to see VP Cheney makes Edwards cry like a little girl.

#9 - Posted by: Marty on October 5, 2004 11:16 AM

- I'll watch for two reasons...To see if Edwards can tap dance fast enough to explain his Masters idiotic double speak items from the first debate...

- and b) if Case every got around to fixing the broken fawcet in the mens john....

#10 - Posted by: Hunter on October 5, 2004 11:18 AM

VP job is not just a place-setting, it's hazardous to yr health: Al Gore was once VP, & he became a deranged & probably dangerous lunatic

#11 - Posted by: jeff on October 5, 2004 11:26 AM

I'm watching to see if Cheney gives Mr. Pretty-boy the same advice he gave to Senator Leahy.

#12 - Posted by: jonag on October 5, 2004 11:29 AM

Here's the question I'd like to see Cheney ask Edwards (but Cheney never takes my advice, for some reason):

"You accused the president of exploiting tragedy for personal gain. Can you remind us again how you made all your money?"

#13 - Posted by: Sobek on October 5, 2004 11:44 AM

The job is worth $181k and a kick-ass retirement package and you you have to do is kick back in an undisclosed location most the time :)

#14 - Posted by: DaDougster on October 5, 2004 11:50 AM

The only reason to watch it is to have some idea of what actually happened to hold up against what Jennings, Brokaw and Rather say happened.

#15 - Posted by: Peter on October 5, 2004 11:59 AM

It's true. A seat in public office is worth nothing more than a headache, trouble.

I will watch the Debate just because I know that Cheney will vanquish the leftist idealism of the ambulance chaser whose own state dosn't support him.

It will be fun

#16 - Posted by: Rob on October 5, 2004 12:08 PM

Is there anything better on tonight? Besides, Cheney-Chomps just might mess up BreckGirl's hair, and the liberal monkeys will be let loose on the set and they will eventually eat the Commie PBS moderator.

#17 - Posted by: LynnGunn on October 5, 2004 12:15 PM

I enjoyed the debate between Cheney and Liberman in 2000. I'll probably watch a few portions of it.

#18 - Posted by: 007 on October 5, 2004 12:33 PM

Garner was OK as VP, but he was better as Maverick. And his daughter is hot.

#19 - Posted by: greg zywicki on October 5, 2004 01:10 PM

I will watch it just to see Master Cheney use his scanner abilities to make Edwards' cry baby head explode...

#20 - Posted by: Amer-I-Can on October 5, 2004 01:38 PM

Is it really nice fancy spit, like movie star spit? Cause I can't compete with that.

#21 - Posted by: Josh on October 5, 2004 02:06 PM

Hey, Cheney COULD have another heart attack during the debates. Although he would probably still win, it would be good TV.

#22 - Posted by: Lou on October 5, 2004 02:14 PM

I think Cheney is going to whup that boy's arse. It'll be the young upstart pup versus the grizzled, experienced hound. I expect there to be next to no coverage on lamestream media.

#23 - Posted by: Cythen on October 5, 2004 04:26 PM

Hey Lou

You talkin Acute Cardiac Event? Like Red Fox as Fred Sanford. Here I come Whezzy :>)

#24 - Posted by: Ivan Ivanovich on October 5, 2004 05:00 PM

Dunno...it could be amusing.

However, if I wanted to see a baby seal getting clubbed, I can always punch up the National Geographic Channel.

It'll be a tough choice, I've some new anime downloaded that I've been meaning to get too...

Choices, choices.

#25 - Posted by: CPT. Charles on October 5, 2004 06:48 PM

actually watching it, it is quite amusing. Basically, Edwards just making up facts and getting flustered that he and Bruce Wayne don't know how to handle their own votes, much less a nation.

Here's a little movie I clipped of the debates. (It's about 2MB big)
