Don't Forget to Make Fun of the "Youth Vote"
Posted by Frank J. at 08:59 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (28)

So what happens to Eminem's video now? It may have convinced some kids to wear black hooded sweatshirts, but I guess voting was a stretch.

Will P. Diddy go on a killing spree?

Well, I know who doesn't have the answers to these questions: our nations youth. Right now they sit there playing X-Box, ignorant to all else.

God bless, 'em!

Hey, I'm part of the youth vote. I voted for Bush. It could be that the youth didn't vote for Kerry in overwhelming numbers. Some of us think, you know.

XBox? Why XBox? Everyone knows that PS2 is where it's at.

#2 - Posted by: NMUSpidey on November 3, 2004 09:03 AM

Oh, yeah, FIRST!

#3 - Posted by: shaggydave on November 3, 2004 09:03 AM

was there any doubt that the only youth responsible enough to vote would be the republicans? i mean, come on, hippies arent responsible.

#4 - Posted by: Joey on November 3, 2004 09:03 AM

I think many of the youth thought it was a seaky attempt to draft them. I told you they would catch on.

#5 - Posted by: LibertyBob on November 3, 2004 09:13 AM

i think the vote or die movement was effective, at least as far as the die part stands...i think p. diddy just scared people off. i think it may have been the xbox as well, everyone playing halo in anticipation of halo 2. sounds reasonable.

im quite happy with the way things turned out, tho i wish it could have been a little more red here in washington, tho it does look as tho Dino will take the gonvernors mansion, tho he is currently only leading by just under 1000 votes, methinks. tho, this is reminiscent of our last senitorial campaign where slade gorton was up, but ended up losing to cantwell when all the absentee ballots came in from college campuses and the like, so im still hoping.

I'm too young to vote, but I signed up as a voter intimi- I mean poll watcher.

#7 - Posted by: Thor Jr. on November 3, 2004 09:28 AM

In the spirit of Reagan's "The bombing begins in five minutes.", it would be funning if Bush would end his victory speech by announcing a draft, and pause for at least 15 seconds before saying "Just kidding, ya'll."

Can 18-25 year olds have heart attacks?

#8 - Posted by: M1A1 on November 3, 2004 09:42 AM

OK, how many bigmouth lib clelebs will be leaving the country now.... this time for real?

And where is the Bon Voyage (yech, I just said some French stuff) party? I wish to salute them with stinkbombs.....

#9 - Posted by: EffinNewGuy on November 3, 2004 09:43 AM

Every election since 1972 the democrats have sworn the youth would come out and vote for them...and they've been wrong every time.

There was a post on DU last night saying that Bush should institute a draft to teach those youths who didn't vote for Kerry a lesson. Remarkably, the mods got rid of it.

#10 - Posted by: ChrTh on November 3, 2004 09:55 AM

I saw one, count 'em - ONE - black hoodie in the line. Since it was raining, though, and the line snaked around the fairgrounds field, that could have just been about warding off the cold.

ho-ho, hey-hey, the Youth didn't vote again today! And emmy is a pretentious snot.

Happy, happy, joy, joy, Bush for 4 More!

#11 - Posted by: BrendaKaye on November 3, 2004 10:11 AM

I'm a yout and I voted Bush... guess Pot and Xbox in your parents basement is more important.

#12 - Posted by: Josh on November 3, 2004 10:38 AM

I was just able to tear myself away from Madden 2005 on the Gamecube (Yeah, you know, the system with games other than Halo) to vote ;)

#13 - Posted by: Godless Conservative on November 3, 2004 10:48 AM

I'm no youth, but I raised a pair of hard core conservatives who voted for the first time for President, and both cast their ballots for G.W. My son traveled home from out of state to vote, and my daughter cast her ballot absentee, and darn near put a trace on it to make sure it got home on time. Next time around, my fifteen year old (who sat up til 1:00 a.m. cheering for Republicans) will be casting a straight R ticket ballot, and I have a nine year old who has already counted the years until she can vote for a Republican president.
We did it, guys! We NUKED THE MOON.

#14 - Posted by: mlp on November 3, 2004 11:18 AM

I was wearing my black MC Chris hoodie yesterday, but that was after I had voted for Bush and went home to play San Andreas. It is my bangin costume. (Unless I am pimping. Then I wear my pimp hat.)

>XBox? Why XBox? Everyone knows that PS2 is where it's at.

PS2 = liberal japanese import filth.
Xbox = USA-born technology by Halliburton's sister company, Microsoft.

"Remember when you left your computer running for ten days without a firewall or antivirus, and your computer got so swarmed by viruses you had to reinstall? IT WAS MICROSOFT'S FAULT!"

(by the way, Frank, it's Xbox, not X-Box! Ya commoner.)

#16 - Posted by: Francesco Poli on November 3, 2004 12:56 PM

To be fair, I didn't start playing Halo until AFTER I went to vote. For Bush.

#17 - Posted by: guntotingelf on November 3, 2004 01:03 PM

PS2? Xbox? 'Cube is where it's at!

And GBA:SP.

Because I *sniff* love Pokemon.
Gotta... Catch... 'Em All!!!

#18 - Posted by: Zach on November 3, 2004 05:22 PM

P. Diddy's mistake was giving them a choice.

Apparently, they chose death.

#19 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on November 3, 2004 05:22 PM

Nothing wrong with being republican and playing video games in your spare time. However there is something wrong with being a gamer and not a citizen in your full time.

#20 - Posted by: The Liberal Slayer on November 3, 2004 07:13 PM

hey, not all youth are apathetic! I can't vote, but I was glued to the tv and 3 different websites from 7pm til 2am enjoying watching all those states turn bright, beautiful red!

#21 - Posted by: zwizh on November 3, 2004 10:14 PM

I'm going out to buy a white hoodie. It is the new official young conservative uniform.

#22 - Posted by: popefumanchu on November 3, 2004 10:38 PM

I know a lot of people at my college voted. Of course, it was a mix between screwy liberals and intelligent conservatives.

All day today I heard catches of conversation ranging from the absurd "why aren't there more liberals here..." to jokes about Kerry's being a flip-waffler.

I heard the ultimate Kerry ad which shows how he can support and defend every side of an issue.

Anyway, some of the youth paid attention and voted. Some of us by mail tho...so you couldn't see us to count us.

#23 - Posted by: Luke on November 4, 2004 12:49 AM

Hmmmmm yeah.... The YOUTH VOTE. Saw one in front of me but he was voting Republican. Funny how the Democrats use the get kids that dont follow politics to vote, Thats thier trump card, convince people with no political wisdom to vote and scare them with a draft. Ahhhhh hahahahaha Liberals.... Ah hahahahaha

#24 - Posted by: Steve C on November 4, 2004 04:36 AM

Was glad to see a lot of young voters out there. I really wish there were more. We would have won by a even bigger margin. These young kids are pretty smart out there. Maybe from a different time era than us, but pretty smart.

#25 - Posted by: stephen on November 4, 2004 07:15 AM

I'm part of the youth vote (I'm 19) and I voted for Bush.

I think the only youth that cared enough to vote were the ones who typically went for Bush. Not saying that there wasn't any youth vote for Kerry, just not as much.

#26 - Posted by: Kyle on November 4, 2004 11:13 AM

I drove back home from school (only about an hour, hour and a half or so) to vote. I saw it as the most appropriate way I could say FUCK YOU to Michael Moore, Bruce Springstein, A Perfect Circle, John Mellancamp, and all the vitriol-spewing liberal mouthpieces that call themselves "news" organizations. I think what all those idiots managed to do was convince the youth that they can vote for themselves, they don't need some millionaire know-it-all jihad-loving jackass who probably never worked a day in his life to tell him/her how to vote.
Peace, here's to another great 4 years *cheers*

#27 - Posted by: Marbleshade on November 4, 2004 11:46 AM

Speaking of killing sprees - has anybody heard from Elizabeth "Not if we win" Edwards about the riots we could expect if she lost? I was SO looking forward to seeing her fat ass leading from the front :-(
