How I'd Rather Things Play Out
Sorry for light posting... Wait, what am I apologizing for? What do I owe you people? Anyway, you are probably wondering what my opinion is on Rather quitting. I think it is horrible. CBS should have publicly hung Dan Rather while begging for our forgiveness. I mean, I could forgive it all if they were at least half-way decent forgeries Rather tried to slam Bush with, but I could literally make a better forgery in under a minute (neglecting printer speed). Hanging; it's the only proper response and the only way for the MSM to regain credibility. 37 Responses To "How I'd Rather Things Play Out"
First! Beat me by a second. #2 - Posted by: 007 on November 23, 2004 06:42 PMI agree, Frank. Except I think Rather should be beaten, drug trought the streets, and then drawn and quartered. Sometimes I regret the Cruel and Unusual clause. Then again, I could always take the Clinton/Gore approach: "It depends on what your definition of 'Cruel' and 'Unusual' is." #3 - Posted by: Neo-con Samurai on November 23, 2004 06:45 PMI heartily disagree! There is no way for the MSM to regain credibility. I think it's incredibly arrogant, and ironic, that Rather is stepping down as anchorman to return to just being a "hard" news reporter, what a joke! Apparently the MSM think we are idiots ... oh, um, yeah, I guess they have been treating us all like idiots all along. #4 - Posted by: An Average Citizen on November 23, 2004 06:46 PMCBS did hang him. eh, I don't know about cruel, but it's only unusual the first time. #6 - Posted by: maggie katzen on November 23, 2004 06:56 PMYeah, I don't get that whole "apologizing" thing the Puppy Blender has been doing. Is he making that much money from blogging he feels the need to apologize for going to pick up his Grandmother? AND he watches pre-teen girlie movies? #7 - Posted by: Editor on November 23, 2004 06:58 PMyou owe us NOTHING. you provide for us, free of charge, entertaining and educational information that makes our days a little brighter. Wikipedia owes us. Damn censoring nazis! Seriously--what is the point of a so-called "living interactive" encyclopedia if additional content is whitewashed and removed? they are defeating their own stated purpose. blogs against wikipedia. there's a good new alliance for you. #8 - Posted by: Gullyborg on November 23, 2004 07:10 PMIts only a problem if the the punishment it both cruel & unusual ... you can be as unusual as you like if you're not cruel & vice versa. #9 - Posted by: Steve on November 23, 2004 07:44 PMYou owe us three ham sandwiches and a strawberry shortcake. Next question? #10 - Posted by: Miranda on November 23, 2004 07:52 PMNot to worry: CBS will find a younger fellow, with equally impressive hair, to read the next set of forged memos. #11 - Posted by: Billll on November 23, 2004 07:54 PM"CBS will find a younger fellow, with equally impressive hair" Donald Trump is already signed with NBC. #12 - Posted by: Gullyborg on November 23, 2004 08:16 PMYes, the president of the CBS news division needs to be hung alongside Rather also. Just think of the ratings for a hanging broadcast. Oh well, maybe hanging is too exteme. Just put them in stocks so they may be ridiculed and maligned by the populace. Have dung thrown at them. Be buggered by Ninja monkeys. Nothing cruel and unusual about that. #13 - Posted by: toad on November 23, 2004 08:25 PMI think it's time for the VRWC to hire guys, once again, to kick his ass while screaming "What's the frequency Kenneth?" He's leaving! WooHoo Party at my place! #14 - Posted by: Kyle on November 23, 2004 08:31 PMWhat do you owe us? Only that which you promised us.......HAPPY DANCE!!!! #15 - Posted by: jonag on November 23, 2004 09:09 PMHanged. CBS should have hanged Dan Rather. #16 - Posted by: Jim "Schoolmarm" Treacher on November 23, 2004 09:50 PMUh, sorry, Frank, I was raised in the 60s and early 70s; you OWE me free ice cream! All the time, and when ever I want it! I'm calling my Congressman! The internet should be free, but with everything I want on it! #17 - Posted by: JFH on November 23, 2004 09:56 PManyone check his resignation papers to make sure that they're authentic? #18 - Posted by: moehawk on November 23, 2004 09:59 PMThe "frequency" angle has already been covered. Personally, I think his tombstone says it all. #19 - Posted by: Confederate Yankee on November 23, 2004 10:59 PM(I may have posted this once before.) Hilaire Belloc's epigram, "Epitaph on the Politician": Here richly, with ridiculous display, If this fraudulent story had been run against John Kerry, there would have been an immediate bloodbath at CBS. I'm having some difficulty deriving vindication from Dan Rather getting to retire from anchor in 2005. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see that useful idiot off the news...but it's just one more example of the arrogance of CBS and the *spit* unbiased *spit* media that they couldn't have even considered doing the right thing. #21 - Posted by: rwc on November 23, 2004 11:16 PMdan rather was the 1st reporter to view the zapruder film. regarding the head shot, his description was that jfk's head definitely snapped forward. the man has been a fraud from the get go. he sold his soul to get where he is. leopold stokowski [the conductor in 'fantasia'] walked out on a 60 minutes interview with the schmuck. he's had a hangin' comin' to him for decades. #22 - Posted by: pale rider on November 24, 2004 04:04 AMWell, you do owe SarahK a ring... #23 - Posted by: 007 on November 24, 2004 09:04 AMThanks, Treacher, I was wondering if anyone had pointed that out yet. I was just about to do so. #24 - Posted by: Beo on November 24, 2004 09:28 AMWell blow me down! Miranda's back! #25 - Posted by: Beo on November 24, 2004 09:29 AMHanging's too good for him! No, I think he should be sent on assignment. He should go interview Zarqawi. #27 - Posted by: Beo on November 24, 2004 11:21 AMYea Bob with the HMTMP referance (you should see the digital re-mastering of that movie btw) Frank you owe us a Happy Dance, you have fallied to give us a Happy Dance. There will be a Lack Of Happy Dance committe formed to look into this matter. When we are done there will be sanctions and UN resoulutions in placed untill said Happy Dance happens or dead Iraqi puppet theater (one or the other please) #28 - Posted by: Monster Kabasue on November 24, 2004 11:35 AMSend him to Abu Ghraib and give him a taste or real conservative values! And hang the traitor who put a stop to "moderate physical pressure" as authorized by our great leader Bush. #29 - Posted by: gun-toting liberal on November 24, 2004 12:43 PMThe only logical conclusion we can draw from Frank's failure to dance happily is that Frank is in fact not happy about Bush's victory. Frank must have voted for KERRY! #30 - Posted by: Beo on November 24, 2004 12:54 PMBeo, I think you might have something there! I'm inspired! While Frank is distracted with his snuggling of Miss K this weekend, we can spread filthy lies about why he hasn't happy danced for us yet!! I've got one: Frank actually has two left feet so when he dances he just goes around in little circles and can't stop. #31 - Posted by: jonag on November 24, 2004 03:25 PMI'm not sure this is a filthy lie at all. Certainly not on par with puppy blending. We know Glenn doesn't drink puppies (too lumpy), but Frank's continual refusal/deflection on the happy dance issue raises some serious concerns. #32 - Posted by: beo on November 25, 2004 12:26 AM- Since CBS is letting Rather s-l-i-d-e down the decent to journalistic obscurity instead of taking the gas pipe, like it or not he's quietly irrelevent now. Question is what they do next. In an interview with Les Moonves some of his thinking might give us a hint. He's looking around and saying "Maybe immitation IS the best sign of success"..."Foxy" guy...Says they may go for a new less experienced face...might even look for someone "fair and unbalanced" like Frank.... #33 - Posted by: Hunter on November 25, 2004 12:27 AMFILTHY LIE: The reason we haven't seen a happy dance yet is that Frank is not at all happy about the Bush reelection, and here is the photographic evidence! #34 - Posted by: beo on November 25, 2004 12:45 AMAha! I KNEW it!! #35 - Posted by: jonag on November 25, 2004 08:05 PMOh. no. Dear God in heaven, no. #36 - Posted by: Dave in Texas on November 25, 2004 11:49 PMJust a thought... With Tom Brokaw retiring, and now Dan Rather, do you think Peter Jennings is doing his own happy dance? #37 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on November 26, 2004 01:32 PMPost a comment
