Women and Guns
Posted by Frank J. at 03:41 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (26)

Here is a picture of SarahK showing off her Christmas present... and there is a whole gun debate in the comments to go with it. My two cents: if you're a woman living alone and don't own a gun, you're insane.

That reminds me, I still need to get a bunch of new modeling photos I've been keeping to myself. Time for a push to sell more W2 shirts in time for inauguration!

I'm with you. I'm in favor of whole guns. Those half and three-quarters guns just don't do the job.

I know! The average gun owner had 4.4 guns, according to a recent Gallup poll. I hate fractional guns.

#2 - Posted by: Frank J. on January 4, 2005 04:06 PM

4.4 guns means they have four they keep loaded and one they don't, silly.

#3 - Posted by: Army NCO Guy on January 4, 2005 04:17 PM

Well, I went to a Quaker school for ten years, and live in the middle of a big city where absolutely everyone I meet thinks gun owners are some kind of barely-sane survivalists or something.

I used to carry a pistol everywhere I went (no longer do), and I keep a loaded AR15 as a home defense weapon.

Here's a site I put up just to gloat to a KKKalifornian friend over some cool guns I own--

tripleneck.blogspot.com

TNS

BTW, Frank J, I heartily endorse 9mm para, but prefer HKs over *yech* Walthers...

#4 - Posted by: TripleNeckSteel on January 4, 2005 04:18 PM

my friend's dad keeps guns located all around the house, behind doors, next to the beds . . . everywhere. It was such a beautiful site, all those 12 gauges, and 10 gauges . . . not to mention the hand guns.

I'm packing lead, and bear repellent (20% more concentrated than pepper spray). I had an "incident" this summer, where some weirdo attempted to shove me in my car, in broad daylight, in a mall parking lot. Yes, ladies, it can happen to you! Be prepared to fight back! It's a sick sad world. I wanted to kill that little f*cker.

#6 - Posted by: Princess Kimberley on January 4, 2005 04:28 PM

The actual figure is much higher than 4.4 guns. when I answer questions about how many guns I own, I say 3 when in truth its 12. when they come for the 3 I report 9 will be buried like squirrel nuts all over my yard and local parks.

Frank,

You've got to get SarahK a white light, buddy.

I advise going to botac.com, for two reasons:

Great prices, and they're Israelis who've seen what equipment and tactics work in real-life.

I keep a lighted HK USP, and now an M4 Carbine with light from botac for home-defense-- they steered me in the right direction. I would get her an Insight M3 for 89.00. Can't be beat, and less toddlers get shot when you have light.

I used to have a girlfriend who I could buy guns for, but the last couple have turned out to be utter Moonbats/Muckadoos...I can pick weapons, just not chicks. You're a lucky guy.

The 2nd Amendment is the only one that has enforcement built in. It is the bedrock upon which all the other Bill of Rights amendments rest. Without the means of limiting the power of an aggressive government, we would be no better off than our ancestors were under the kings of England and other European nations.

Long Live GUNS!!!

#9 - Posted by: Jeff H on January 4, 2005 05:00 PM

Nice Glock!! (It is a Glock, isn't it?)

To quote Rush Limbaugh, "I love the women's movement, especially when I'm walking behind it!!"

You should carry that photo in your wallet.

#10 - Posted by: MAJ Mike on January 4, 2005 06:16 PM

Don't think it's a Glock. Kind of blurry, but I would say Springfield Arms copy of the Glock from Croatia?

#11 - Posted by: noisy ghost on January 4, 2005 07:39 PM

C'mon, you can tell its a Walther, or at least a Sig, from the profile. No Glock is that tall, plus they are very rectangular on the slide. The massive trigger guard says Walther, big time.

#12 - Posted by: Drew on January 4, 2005 08:35 PM

There are lots of muckadoos who go absolutely insane when they learn I have a handgun in my apartment. Sadly, it is stored away safely, and meant only if the Monkey-Muckadoo Conspiracy were to succeed, or if I were to have a teenage daughter. That, and when I need to blow off steam at the range.

Due to the number of tight spaces, blind corners, narrow hallways, paper thin walls, and expensive electronics, I have opted for melee oriented protection. Not to mention, ninjas can only be defeated by kung fu.

I cannot wait until I am old enough to own a gun. I love to see the look on peoples faces when I say I want a gun. It is priceless. It is nice to hear guys who support girls with guns. Tootles.

Frank man, should have gotten SarahK a Beretta 92FS. Its beautiful.

#16 - Posted by: TEM on January 4, 2005 11:24 PM

Good goin' Frank. Got my gal a semi-auto for Christmas too. And if I could talk her into posing with it ya'd all freak.

Your pal,
Gunny

#17 - Posted by: Gunny on January 5, 2005 12:59 AM

Now Frank, you know that Sarah has to get her concealed carry permit, right? Just having the gun is not enough- you have to have it with you.

#18 - Posted by: Mr. Blue on January 5, 2005 05:25 AM

Sheesh,

Even a chick would know never to buy a Beretta.

Our boys and girls over in the sand know those just suck.

Frank, you did right to buy her a Walther (even though you could obviously afford an HK at that price)-- now all you need to do in order to be a half-decent boyfriend is to get her a white-light attachment.

Frank! I love it, where's mine. Really though, I think every girl should have a gun, or three, or twelve. But don't you love the thread you caused over on Sarah K's site?

BTW How's the Walther handle?

#20 - Posted by: Oddybobo on January 5, 2005 09:16 AM

About the statement that any woman alone without a gun is insane, well actually all women are insane. You too will learn this. But it is okay, it makes life fun living with insane people.

#21 - Posted by: Chris Van Dis on January 5, 2005 09:39 AM

I was told that to be a true believer you had to have one firearm for each year of age.

Participation at the "Masters" level requires one caliber for each year of age.

Still working on my "Masters".

#22 - Posted by: old-squid on January 5, 2005 10:53 AM

Good luck getting a light for the Walther. If it's a pre-2004 model, there are maybe two models of light that fit on the rails and the venerable M3 is not one of them. If it is a 2004 model, the M5 should fit.

My advice: Get a Surefire E2/E3 "Executive" hand-held light. It will clip to her belt, fit in a pocket or if it's a formal occasion, slip into her purse. Bright enough to light up a warehouse and you can use it to see behind your computer when you try to plug in the latest USB device.

Every try to plug in a USB cord while using a weapon-mounted light? Gets you strange looks in the office.

That's a nice piece. The gun's pretty cool too. I prefer wheel guns myself. No evidence left lying about when you're done. I hate picking up brass.

Led Boots, that is no way to refer to a lady! Especially one who is packing heat.
