Question for My Readers
Posted by Frank J. at 03:58 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (19)

Since I steal money from the government through a number of different schemes, do I need to disclose that information before any commentary I do on the policies of the Bush administration whom I'm defrauding the money from? All this disclosure stuff is starting to confuse me.

Yes. Send it to me, and I will forward it on to my good friend George W Bush.

No, you don't have to disclose stolen funds for ethical purposes. You do, however, still need to itemize them on your taxes.

Since your "government benefits" are constant, in theory you would need to disclose them every day. That is too cumbersome and boring, however, so I'd recommend embedding the disclosure within the posts, e.i.: "The ninjas took the gold, which is pretty much what I did at Fort Knox", "Bush kneeled in church, which, for tax purposes, I am", etc.

just spend it all on a fancy record player

For taxes purposes I am a citizen of the Dutch Antillies (sp?).

Heres a question. Can George Soros declare all of the money that he spent on Moveon as gambling loses? I mean if Kerry was elected they would be gambling with the security of the nation.

I think a couple of rounds at the confessional would cover it. No need to get all legal with the paperwork. But if you do happen to decide on reporting it, at least you have access to a good accountant now.

Now, if someone says "Hey FrankJ steal this govt. money over here (pointing to large pile of govt. funds) and while you are at it talk about the Bush administration's policy regarding 'how to be more hitler for today's teens'" then you would need to disclose for ethical purposes. And don't forget to disclose that extra income on your taxes.

Money? what is this money you speak of, and where do you get it.

#9 - Posted by: Monster Kabasue on January 27, 2005 06:22 PM

Just say that your's is a worthy cause and the money raised didn't exceed the management fees incured. Oh. I'm sorry, I thought this was the UN site.

No, you are under no such obligation.

But that's my first read on this, and it's a serious topic. For a $5,000 retainer I will provide a legal opinion.

Full disclosure. I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on television.

Only if you're on fire.

And ducks are in danger.
Poor ducks...

If you are stealing money from the government it is only right that you send it to me. They have been stealing my money for years. E-mail me for bank wiring instructions.

Thanks,

Mongo

No! Ixnay on the stolen funds-nay!

#14 - Posted by: gaskar on January 28, 2005 07:02 AM

You're not stealing, you're only diverting funds. So there's no need for disclosure as long as full mention is made of the diversions. Just mention them to SarahK or Sydney, or post them if Hate Filled Lefty gets a good beatin' as a result.

I steal money from the government and have for decades. It has never seemed to be a problem. I would not worry about it.

(hiccup...excuse me)

I am NOT a lawyer, but the way I understand it Frank, you only have to make a disclosure if the know they are giving you money. As you are robbing them blind without their knowledge, I don't see a conflict of interest, unless you start attacking the administration on fiscal policy.

When you go down the path of "Greenspan is such a theif," I think you are obligated to the say, "but so am I" and then just leave it at that.

Other than that, you are in the clear.

Me and a friend had this problem once. Just give the money to nuns and then have them donate the funds to you. Then tell the IRS "No controlling legal authority".
