First! Are podcasts just for pod people? #2 - Posted by: jonag on May 28, 2005 01:17 PMBoth of my sisters took calc 4 and got an A, and one of them did not loose any points throughout the entire course, with a 100% average. #3 - Posted by: Carl on May 28, 2005 01:23 PMCongrats on being a right wing terrorist/. I am so proud. #4 - Posted by: Frank J is a Terrorist on May 28, 2005 02:25 PMlove the show. it was very funny #5 - Posted by: erik on May 28, 2005 02:26 PMOh, my side aches!!!! I'm serious, I've been laughing so hard it hurts. I don't own an IPOD, so thanks for the MP3 link. It's great to hear what everyone sounds like! Frank sounds different than I'd imagined; he's not quite as psychotic as I'd thought. Spacemonkey was a big surprise. He can actually speak! (I'd expected just Aah-ahh-ahh ohh-ohh-ohh). And SarahK really does have a Texan accent! On the technical side, I found the editing and format, along with the soundtrack to be very professional. Excellent. My only technical issue would be to ask if anyone else found the volume level a bit low? I raised it as high as I could but could barely hear it. This might however be just my system, which is a bit odd.
Thanks, Chris. Most of us don't have professional equipment for recording, but we may solve that later. Scott was great at the editing, though. #7 - Posted by: Frank J. on May 28, 2005 02:29 PM>mailto:frankjisaterroist@fuckrightwingers.com Yes! A Terro-ist! Is that like a Earth lover? Which reminds me: the podcast is good, but Bush = Hitler so it's irrelevant. Oh, sorry, what I meant is: check out iPodder if you want a free Podcast receiver. I gotta agree this was really good! I'm not gay so I don't own an iPod which made me thankful for the mp3 link. Frank sounds exactly like the guy on the album cover should sound I think. When SarahK isn't singing she does sound like Texas. Her bit was the funniest I think. Spacemonkey was really good too. Scott needs to try to pay more attention next time I think. I also agree about the sound levels. They are low, but it's no problem to turn the volume way up (until someone sends me an IM that is then I almost fall out of my chair from the loudest doorbell EVER). Overall it is a most excellent first attempt. I hope to see more of these. #9 - Posted by: JMK on May 28, 2005 03:56 PMIt would be less annoying with more SarahK. Some bikermommy might help too. #12 - Posted by: Roger Kiser on May 28, 2005 06:00 PMSo EXCELLENT and exceptionally funny, in every way. (((ENCORE--ENCORE))) Hugely funny! Especially all the drunks doing "Frank Discourse"! I don't own an iPod so thanks for the .mp3 link! I hope you continue with the .mp3 links. That said, I just listened to the entire podcast. What can I say? Absolutely hilarious! This is the best thing to come out of IMAO since I've been here (a year or two, I lost count somewhere along the way)! I can't wait for the next one! It's great to put voices with names! FrankJ., well, I've heard his introduction recorded several months/years (?) ago so I recognized the voice. SarahK, what is there to say? She sounds as beautiful as she looks! You're a lucky man FrankJ! Everyone else (Harv, etc) too funny! Ya'll are great! I can't wait to hear RWD, even if he is Mexican. Favorite quotes - I have two. The first is "I'm FrankJ and now you know what I think so you can think it too!" Absolutely. You know we're all just mindless followers. Glad we have a competent leader. Second - "Kim Jong Ill has poofy hair so we could use that to clean under the rim." Glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that! Overall, home run! Best thing to happen to IMAO since SarahK! I look forward to the next podcast (in .mp3 of course)! Great job FrankJ, and all involved, I loved it! #15 - Posted by: Leuthen on May 28, 2005 11:06 PMChris, Yeah, me too. I know FrankJ has already addressed this, I just wanted to say I had a hard time hearing at times as well. The volume issue aside, the audio formatting/splicing/editing/whatever you want to call it, was great. It was pretty much seamless. I listen to a lot of audio on the 'net and this came across as very professionally done. Yeah, it had it's glitches here and there, but awesome for a first time. #16 - Posted by: Leuthen on May 28, 2005 11:09 PMI, too, liked the podcast. I gaffawed many times. Since Bush=Hitler, I think we should see him in his underware (or even commando). As you can probably tell, I am a pink elephant type guy. Luv ya, Rick #17 - Posted by: Rick on May 28, 2005 11:22 PMHey, let's organize a Koran Burning across the country!! #18 - Posted by: realpolitiklr on May 29, 2005 12:10 AMlol nice southern accent sarahk
somethign tells me frank will be in the doghouse once sarahk hears that bit bout chicks on the moon. that last bit reminds me of the health video me and some freinds made, we messed up and totally BS'd parts (our teacher fast fowared through the best part...lets jsut say it related to dogs and sexual dysfunction...and the video was about Illeagel drugs...yea but it was related). #19 - Posted by: Hari Seldon on May 29, 2005 01:21 AMrandom comment: does anyone notice the likness (at least to my eyes) of frank jand toby mcguire (spiderman) #20 - Posted by: Hari Seldon on May 29, 2005 01:28 AMDon't forget to e-mail the comments link found in the IMAO Podcast... maybe we'll read YOUR comments in the next podcast! #21 - Posted by: The Real Scott on May 29, 2005 02:57 AMI'm pretty sure Stalin went commando. #22 - Posted by: McWert Deglieb on May 29, 2005 04:40 AMloved it, awesome job everyone! Found out about the PodCast at its link Michelle Malkin's Blog. Very funny stuff, Frank! I especially liked SarahK's review of Mr. Shiny .45. The short history of Alabama was also terrific! And yes, Kim Jung Il's head would make an excellent toilet brush! Jack. #24 - Posted by: Jack Deth on May 29, 2005 03:00 PMWorst idea ever. All of that would have been just as funny written in the blog, except Frank Discourse which wasn't funny. It was very public radio. I know that I may be in the minority here but thats how I feel. Gotta love how some people love anything different. JoshG, you filthy conservative! Oh, wait... #26 - Posted by: Citizen Grim on May 29, 2005 04:21 PMworst idea ever? worse than communism? the holocaust? that last Batman movie? #27 - Posted by: sarahk on May 29, 2005 06:12 PMVery good...and thanks for the mp3 link--please keep doing that. A word to the editor, I know you were trying to eliminate some of the noise in some parts, but ya need to tweak your noise gate so it's not so Darth Vader-sounding. Some multi-band compression would even it out and solve your volume issues, too. Waves makes good plugins for Sound Forge if you have that for your editing. Just a suggestion--I liked it overall, lots of funny. #28 - Posted by: Seth on May 29, 2005 06:14 PMHeh. Liked it. That was fun! And, strangely enough, I found no spelling errors. :) Good work, imao drones. #29 - Posted by: LawWife on May 29, 2005 09:48 PMThe source audio from the IMAO Bloggers were all 32K MP3 files and therefore all sound sort of tinny. We hoped that would be sufficient for the podcast and would help keep the MP3 file down to a manageable size for those who might have dial-up Internet connections. In next week's podcast, we'll be using 16-bit PCM for the source audio and then encode the final MP3 as a 96K stereo file. We will consider encoding the IMAO Podcast as a 128K broadcast-quality audio file if people don't mind the large (25MB-40MB) download. #31 - Posted by: The Real Scott on May 29, 2005 10:25 PMFrank J.- You got engaged to her. You can't bitch about married women yet. I think there's a three-year grace period. #32 - Posted by: sunbuzz81 on May 29, 2005 11:26 PMMr. J, Perhaps a third link, after iPod and Mp3, a dial-up sized "tinny" link. Some don't have broad-band at home, like us in the sticks of New Mexico. And I'm not looking to pay sixty bucks a month to DirecWay for satellite access, even if the DirecWay spokesbabe is hot. I compressed the 96 kbps mp3 to 24 kbps and SarahK's voice was just as sweet (she shoulda made Idol), and file size was a quarter the original. All dialogue was understandable, as well as the original. Oh, funny stuff, too! Well produced. Somebody's gonna get a well paying career out of this eventually. More please, worth every penny! Reese #33 - Posted by: Reese on May 30, 2005 12:20 AMOutstanding job... Keep up the good work! #34 - Posted by: peakah on May 30, 2005 01:51 AMSarahK Okay perhaps not the worst idea ever. I put it somewhere between disco and Gredo shooting first. Look I am just some punk kid, but here's my two cents. I can see this ending badly somehow. First more adverts, second pop ups, third and worst of all pay for "premium" content. Not saying that it will, just that I fear it might.
No wait. It wasn't Stalin, it was Tukhachevsky. #36 - Posted by: McWert Deglieb on May 30, 2005 04:04 AMReally funny stuff! Loved it!!! I was wondering...not that I'm insecure...I'm a guy...and I own an IPOD...am I a homo? Who did Georgo Bush? Great impersonation? Great funny as usual from IMAO! Keep it up! Loved Sarah's bit about her gun! I see live video in your future...a TV show perhaps...you guys will be huge...HUGE I TELL YOU!!! #37 - Posted by: USS Jimmy Carter Attack Submarine on May 30, 2005 08:56 AMDang - a podcast that's way funnier than mine. Guess I just have to funny mine up then. Oh wait, I'm supposed to be semi-serious on Shire Network News. Maybe I should just capitulate to the greatness that is Frank J and turn my podcast over to him. #38 - Posted by: "Tom Paine" on May 30, 2005 10:58 AMRockin'. What a well-educated woman you keep around too! Your form doesn't like my de-spaminated email address, so I'll have to use an invalid one. Oops. #39 - Posted by: Jordan on May 30, 2005 03:02 PMWhat really got to me was that IMAO was pronounced I-M-A-O. I thought it was I-MAO. Like if Apple made a Chinese Dictator. #40 - Posted by: Captain Josh on May 30, 2005 03:38 PMI thought it was pretty good. Not quite laugh-until-I-regurgitate good, but pretty good. And no iPod fer me either, even if they came in fuscia! I liked sarahk's unexcited "'yee-ha's", like she was being forced to play the Texas stereotype. At the end though, the accent needs some work - it sounded like "eat underwear Ronny". #41 - Posted by: Drew on May 30, 2005 07:40 PMI think I heard lightsaber noises in your cracker-ass cracker podcast. George Lucas is gonna sue somebody! #42 - Posted by: Chaka Luther King on May 31, 2005 12:44 AMIt is almost scary to listen to this. Heresy I say! #43 - Posted by: Tyler D. on May 31, 2005 02:13 AMSpotted you on the front page of WorldTribune.com today (31 May 05) #44 - Posted by: mech on May 31, 2005 12:55 PMHa! You guys made me laugh. Loved the women on the moon digs. And the Mao Mix song. Look forward to next week. Oh, and you gotta read the I-Mao comment above from Captain Josh next week, that one works. #45 - Posted by: rick on May 31, 2005 02:52 PMWhen I saw you were doing a podcast, my initial reaction was "sh*t! Just what I need..someone way funnier than me jumping on the bandwagon." And I was right..that was way funnier than my first two efforts, and far better production values. An outstanding effort on all counts. Game on :) #47 - Posted by: Dave on June 1, 2005 02:43 AMWell lets see. Yeah It was kinda funny. I mean in the way that little boys can giggle at themselves and know Moms are laughing at them. I have a few comments. I as a woman had to write them down so as not to forget them. anymore thoughts...nope guess I am going to go get my "hand" and get to what we women refer to as cleaning........;) #48 - Posted by: MOM on June 1, 2005 12:28 PMIf this is the first podcast, when will we get to hear the others? #49 - Posted by: Jonny Cache on June 1, 2005 02:56 PMThat was great! Good job everyone. #51 - Posted by: Robert P. Cecrle on June 3, 2005 02:16 PMI have to give one piece of criticism. The book report bit went pretty long and I started zoning out. But...it was a good idea, and the rest of the show was just fan-fucking-tastic! Please review more guns and other complex mechanical devices, and the Roundtable is genius. Knowing the editing work that had to go into this, I don't expect you to pump them out once a week, but man...as fast as you can create them you'll have listeners. Good stuff. #52 - Posted by: JimK on June 4, 2005 02:01 PMPost a comment
