Funny, Hillary library shaped like an unquenchable political ambition!

#2 - Posted by: mototpolitico on June 20, 2005 07:08 AM

FrankJ. Is Very Very Great!
[heh]

#3 - Posted by: mototpolitico on June 20, 2005 07:12 AM

Oh, and thanks for the Hate Filled Lefty. I still think you need Hate Filled Lefty boxing.

#4 - Posted by: mototpolitico on June 20, 2005 07:13 AM

I always thought there was something off about Dr. Seuss.
As for Goldilocks, what did she think would happen to her with her picky eating habbits.

These bedtime stories have been animal-tested. On my cats. They work great.

Take that, PETA!

#6 - Posted by: Laurence Simon on June 20, 2005 08:32 AM

Great podcast FrankJ! Wait some one is playing rap music in the office...."Hey turn that off nazi!"

#7 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on June 20, 2005 08:35 AM

I didn't like RWD's bit this week. There wasn't any "there" there. So a bunch of people who speak Spanish (or something) are crossing the border to find work, perhaps even in blogging. Nothing funny there. We expect better out of RWD!

Loved having a teaser at the beginning. That was a nice touch. The intro was better with the little sound clips, but... Look. I know he's going after the serious voiceover, trying to get a good deal of gravitas into the intro, etc, but although it was better, it was still too slow. The commercial voiceover was way too slow as well. Slow != authoritative.

Harvey's delivery was good on the 50 states, but I feel like I have trouble hearing him. It's not a huge problem, but I have to boost the volume a bit on his parts. Does anyone else have this problem, or is there something up with my speakers maybe where the lower tones are weak?

Anyway, thanks again for putting this out. Have a good week.

#8 - Posted by: Lionstone on June 20, 2005 09:47 AM

Probably my fault for not getting close enough to the mike.

Also, Scott was out of town and had to do a lot of production work on this week's podcast on his laptop, so he may not have had the chance to equalize the volume across segments.

I'll bring that up at our discussion board & see if there's something we can do to have a more consistent volume throughout.

#9 - Posted by: Harvey on June 20, 2005 09:57 AM

look at Harvey, acting like we care. ;)

lionstone, ducky's bit is funnier if your best friend in high school was mexican so you can actually understand what ducky's translating. fortunately for frank, i was able to tell him (by substituting non-cuss-words, of course) what ducky was calling him. :D so now, ducky will just get empty burrito wrappers. poor ducky.

#10 - Posted by: sarahk on June 20, 2005 12:06 PM

Hmm, this one is definitely better than the third podcast (except for the Frank Knowledge part. Hehe, boxing a chimp.) yet there's still something missing. I don't know what it is. I mean, you guys really raised the bar when you made the second one. Seriously, the second one continues to blow all of the other ones away. In fact, it's the podcast that's made my mom into a fan (and she's McCain moderate. Really, she bets millions that he's going to be president).
Well, first, the return of the background music for Harvey Fun Facts was a good improvement. I also liked the new Hate-Filled-Lefty skit. Another hilarious thing was the In My World.
As for what didn't work, I just thought that Sarahk reviewing Cat in the Hat just made her seem, well, less intelligent than we should give her credit. She is a lot smarter and should be reviewing bigger things, like, umm, one recommendation I have is the Sin City comic books (Lots of guns. A REAL LOT of guns.). Plus, you shouldn't knock Dr. Seuss. If you look at his work besides his books, you'd find out that he was the original Cox & Forkum, only there's only one of him. Really, he's probably the first right-wing artist (although he did support FDR, who was left-wing, but FDR DID help us win WWII, so he does get lots of credit for that).
The next thing is the interruption in the middle of the Harvey segment, although for some reason I actually didn't mind and thought that it worked. So maybe you can keep that.
However, the main problem was the Frank Discourse. Even though Sarahk is funny and it was a good discourse, the lack of anyone else really took away from the whole experience.
Overall, here is a rating thing for them (be aware that the first Podcast was given a one because as the first one, it is somewhat of a base).

Podcast one: 1
Podcast two: 2
Podcasst three: 1.5
Podcast four: 1.75

Now, what can be improved for the next podcast. Well, one obvious one is maybe to make sure that when you do the Discourse to make sure that at least, umm, 3 other bloggers (not counting FrankJ and SarahK) are able to join. Next could be a return of Spacemonkey.
Now you guys go out there and continue making great podcasts.

Gunlord

#11 - Posted by: gunlord on June 20, 2005 12:44 PM

Gunlord,
Thanks for the detailed comments again.

The two-person "roundtable" was a one time thing since Scott (who records and edits the roundtable) is on vacation.

#12 - Posted by: Frank J. on June 20, 2005 12:57 PM

Funny stuff, Frank and Company.

The Arkansas Fun Facts were a hoot!

Hint to SarahK: Though I have never read any stories by Doctor Seuss. He was a veteran of the 101st Airborne in WWII.

Jack.

#13 - Posted by: Jack Deth on June 20, 2005 01:19 PM

Personally,

The Cat in The Hat always makes me cry. Good review SArahK!!

I love the two person round table.

#16 - Posted by: Tyler D. on June 20, 2005 02:15 PM

Next time there is only 2 people for the round table you should impersonate the others, poorly.

#17 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on June 20, 2005 04:24 PM

know what this podcast needs? Aquaman.

or has than been said already? I'd love to hear him on the roundtable. that ability to communicate with fish would really come in handy.

#18 - Posted by: macstansbury on June 20, 2005 07:55 PM

How often can we vote for the podcast?

#19 - Posted by: JMK on June 20, 2005 08:13 PM

Once a month, so you can porbably vote again July 1st.

#20 - Posted by: Frank J. on June 20, 2005 08:54 PM

Hey, I offered to do Aquaman's voice, but Frank said AQUAMAN'S NOT A JEW! SHUT UP!

And then he told Sarah to hit me.

I still have nightmares.

#21 - Posted by: Laurence Simon on June 20, 2005 11:26 PM

I liked it and Rightwingduck cracked me up (maybe because I'm 2 hours from the Mexican border and it would be so cool if that really happened!)! The round table had me cracking up too.

#23 - Posted by: asd on June 21, 2005 07:16 AM

Quit dealing with your little silly string. Ugh, idiots!

Why do I find these so funny? Because I do. And it's damn funny.

#24 - Posted by: Steve the Pirate on June 21, 2005 01:14 PM

Hmm not your best effort. Harvey was the best part. Do you have to do one every week? Personally I would like an outstanding one once a month or bi-monthly then several sub par weekly ones.

#25 - Posted by: JoshG on June 21, 2005 02:39 PM
lionstone, ducky's bit is funnier if your best friend in high school was mexican so you can actually understand what ducky's translating.
Thanks for the clarification SarahK. :) #26 - Posted by: Lionstone on June 22, 2005 09:13 AM

Looks like I won a T-shirt. Neato.

#27 - Posted by: Dan on June 22, 2005 02:41 PM

You know Lionstone. I worked off the assumption that people know the word "Pendejo" (which means idiot).

In retrospect - I should have used the word "estupido" which would have been universally understood.

BTW, when are you people going to learn SPANISH!!

Get with the program, gringos.

#28 - Posted by: RightWingDuck on June 22, 2005 03:18 PM

More SarahK!

#29 - Posted by: flydiveski on June 22, 2005 04:14 PM

Heard last 2 casts. good stuff!

Lefty w/ Kennedy school was funny!

Bush-Quran was funny but why no arrest & execution of the Saudi ambassador when he got caught sneaking the Bible into Saudi Arabia?

#30 - Posted by: av on June 22, 2005 10:13 PM
You know Lionstone. I worked off the assumption that people know the word "Pendejo" (which means idiot).
You know I actually had three years of Spanish? :) My vocabulary, obviously, has shrunk quite a bit since then. Although it was a public school curriculum, so offensive words like "pendejo" wouldn't have been on our vocabulary lists. ;) #31 - Posted by: Lionstone on June 22, 2005 11:13 PM

I am a Bad Example fan (and came here because Harvey said so long ago). I have a pod-cast as well and saw you on Pod-cast Alley... I said "HEY! I know these cats" and came to check out the cast. I was only going to listen to Harvey and FWD the rest (because I thought you were gonna suck)... I WAS WRONG!

THIS IS THE BEST POD-CAST EVER! I now have to redo mine because it is me that sucks.

*SIGH*

DAMN YOU ALL FOR BEING SO GOOD. Bastar*s

Love,

Keeme

#32 - Posted by: on June 23, 2005 08:51 PM

*clamors for more In My World style podcasts!*

Bush with the Koran was my favorite part,
followed closely by Copernicus Dynamite.

Rightwingduck sounds very North Dakotan for a Mexican and he's much too likable to be a reporter.

#33 - Posted by: Miranda on June 23, 2005 08:59 PM

Frank, all kidding aside, you are really lucky to be engaged to a girl like Sarah.

I can see that she is going to be a great mom, and one day an awesome grandma. Treat her right bro.

#34 - Posted by: ballantrae on June 23, 2005 09:41 PM

Solid podcast. Harvey, I like your states thing, but it sounds like you're just reading it off a piece of paper. Just trying to help...

Also, Gunlord....don't tell SarahK to read the Sin City books! Yes, there are a lot of guns but the content in those books isn't anything SarahK is going to want to read. Now FrankJ, Harvey...you guys should read them, because they're awesome

#35 - Posted by: Patriot Xeno on June 23, 2005 09:43 PM

Miranda.

Correction. I sound SOUTH Dakotan.

#36 - Posted by: RightWingDuck on June 24, 2005 11:18 AM

Finally able to listen to the whole podcast! Yeah, it's Friday night, sue me! That said,

Sarahk was the star of this podcast. Any chance of more of her singing Frankj? I didn't think so, just checking.

OK, here we go,

The audio is getting better every week! Now, topic by topic review....

Frank Knowledge - uhh.....OK

Harv's Fun Facts - pretty good, would have been better without the interuption by that drooling lefty. Just my .02.

Border Report - Hmm.....kind of funny but it's lacking. Lacking what? I don't really know, I can't put my finger on it. It has potential though.

Sarahk's review - Well, it IS Sarahk so how can anyone say anything bad about it? Great!

Bedtime stories - Well, uh, crappy is a good word. Sorry, it was partially humorous but it, like the border report, is lacking a tad bit.

Frank Discourse - Well, it would be better if SOMEONE other than Frankj and Sarahk were involved. Then again, that's just more time we get to hear Sarahk so I'm on the fence on this one! :)

The Mailbag - Pretty hard to mess this one up. Very well done Frankj!

All that said, the podcasts are getting better every week IMHO, or should I say IMAO? Yes Frankj, there are some of us who DO know what it means even when it's not emblazoned on everything! :)

Keep up the good work guys (and Sarahk)! I look forward to Mondays in a whole new light!

#37 - Posted by: Leuthen on June 25, 2005 03:21 AM

Excellent podcast #1 & 2. I have recently started listening... funnny sh--i-- stuff for the most part.

Later Right Wing Freaks

I demand longer podcasts.

#39 - Posted by: crazyzac on June 26, 2005 12:03 AM

I did not know Arkansas was the first state to allow the capability of bribing the Governor via PayPal.

I love it!

#40 - Posted by: beej on June 26, 2005 07:25 PM

how about number 5?
