The IMAO Podcast Insensitive and Offensive?
Posted by Scott McCollum at 07:18 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (22)

There's talk that some people will find some of the language in this week's IMAO Podcast insensitive and offensive. Certain minority segments of the population are supposedly being mocked in the June 27 IMAO Podcast, but it's nothing worse than what Mel Brooks did 30 years ago.

If anything, the IMAO Podcast aims to equally offend everyone until the Supreme Court rules our podcast unconstitutional.

Have you listened to it yet? If you have tell me if you think any of it is offensive. If you haven't listened to the IMAO Podcast, why? It is free to download and we're giving away t-shirts just for listening...

That's the whole reason I listen to the podcast; to be offended.

I honestly wasn't offended at all.
But I'm not an easily offended person.

But I do have black and Mexican friends.
Does that count?

Maybe some people are always looking for something to be offended by...

I just don't understand why so many people hate on this site, for no real reason.

#3 - Posted by: Jen on June 27, 2005 07:23 PM

Must I now work to become more offensive than FrankJ?

#4 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on June 27, 2005 07:43 PM

Jimmyb you are right, there are people always looking to be offended. They should just stay away. I heard nothing offensive to reasonable minded folks.

I WAS GREATLY OFFENDED.... because..... hmmm.... uhh.... hmmm...... crap.... no.... good.... reason....... oh, i found one.... crap... nevermind.

Personally, I wasn't offended by any of it (of course, I once drew a cartoon where where Jesus doesn't know how to say the pope's name, so take that for what it's worth).

I think people are just far too thin-skinned.

BTW, I thought SarahK's "I'll touch your things if they are ugly and should be hidden!" PSA was the best part of the podcast.

I am horribly offended by the use of the word "crap" in that earlier comment.

#9 - Posted by: Laurence Simon on June 27, 2005 11:02 PM

Aww....crap... oops i did it again... my bad...

#10 - Posted by: AJ on June 27, 2005 11:11 PM

I am horribly offended by the last poster's use of the line from the Britney Spears song.

I am totally disgusted, insulted, offended, and perpetually perplexed because of your having insulted everyone and every group on planet earth. Everyone except me and my group, that is. Nothing that was said, sung, danced, or stumbled over and stammered through offended me. Well, I thought I was onto something when the screech in the middle of Poo-cast 2 blew out my left eardrum, but it turned out to be only temporary.

Well, actually I don't have a group. I don't even have any friends. In fact, I don't have any neighbors ever since I brought the pigs in. They're in the backyard now, the pigs not the neighbors. One of 'em got out earlier today and ran down the street, those little porkers are fast. I finally caught up with him six doors down where he had stopped to kill and eat a cat. I snuck away before anybody saw me, but I couldn't do anything about the lingering smell.

I listen to your Poo-cast every chance I get because it is very true and always on point, whatever that means.

But you need to be more inclusive (is that a word?). Start offending me!

Fondest Regards,
Humphrey WhaHoppen

PS: Frank, I'm thinkin' it too.

Okay. I listened. Now where's my t-shirt?

Chris D, that cartoon wasn't offensive, even to me, a Christian. It was actually pretty funny, especially Bin Laden saying, "Oh, no! I'm allergic to Jesus!"

#14 - Posted by: Chris S on June 28, 2005 11:26 AM

I thought the entire purpose of IMAO is to offend people. More offensiveness please!

#15 - Posted by: kevin on June 28, 2005 12:30 PM

For some reason, I thought the mexican jokes were funny and the jew jokes were not.

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't think most people would be offended by it (unless they don't like swears), but I like pimping those cartoons whenever I get the chance, since I've probably gotten more compliments on them than anything else I've ever done in my life.

#17 - Posted by: Chris D on June 28, 2005 02:00 PM

I, myself very nearly failed to be offended until Harvey saved the day. As a graduate of Fallbrook Union High School in the Avocado Capital of the World, I can take umbrage at the comment about noone caring! Yee-Haw! Good work! Now I, too , can be a card-carrying member of the victim mentality!

#18 - Posted by: TxDan on June 28, 2005 05:06 PM

Keep offending whomever is whining. Political correctness is neither political or correct! No one is forced to listen?

Being offended has nothing to do with other people. If I am offended it is my interpretation, not what is presented.

#19 - Posted by: Phobos on June 28, 2005 06:31 PM

Considering you have to download it by CHOICE, anyone who's offended by it either WANTS to be offended or is obviously not a regular at IMAO, or quite possibly, BOTH!

Keep doing what you're doing guys, it's great! It's only been, what, 4 podcasts now and you're worried about offending someone?

Some people just need to get over themselves and go listen to some more NPR.

#20 - Posted by: Leuthen on June 28, 2005 08:14 PM

For those of us still in the dark ages without IPOD and still using dial up, but are longing to be offended or at least hear what people are so offended about, is there any chance of getting transcripts of these pod casts?

Lemme know!!

TEEEEEEJ

#21 - Posted by: on June 28, 2005 10:30 PM

you know who you've really offended? Atlantians. yes, the people from under the sea. completely leaving out that group just shows what kind of anti-water-breathing types you people are!

okay, that's the best rant I could do. the whole fish thing's my shtick, ya know?
