Air America and the NYT
Posted by RightWingDuck at 11:23 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (19)

I was reading Captain’s Quarters Blog where the Captain has a great post on the NY Times and their excuses for not covering the Air America scandal. With all due respect, Captain Ed isn’t as good at that “research” stuff as I am, so I did some true IMAO news investigating and discovered…

The Top Reasons the New York Times has not Covered the Air America Scandal.

10. They were planning on running it as a correction on page 26.

9. Big deal. The kids at the Boys and Girls Club would have spent the money on drugs anyway.

8. The story was pushed by right wing blogs. Couldn’t figure out if coverage should come from the department reporters at Tech or at Religion.

7. NYT reporters got carried away singing songs at Camp Casey.

6. Sincerely believed that Air America was that shoe by Michael Jordan.

5. Staff too busy figuring out that darn crossword puzzle.

4. Staffing is light due to gay honeymoons.

3. Needed to make sure the story was valid - was waiting for it to be covered by Air America.

2. No information to dig up: attended AA meeting after AA meeting after…

and the number one reason the New York Times hasn't written about the Air America Scandal...

1. Couldn’t find a way to work in the words “illegal war” or “quagmire”

Bush's Illegal War in Iraq Causes Accounting Confusion
by Maureen Dowd

Air America, a well known radio program loved by many has an acounting problem. Whilst spending it's time uncovering the awful quagmire in Iraq, Air America forgot to send a check to one of it's lenders.

While not a big deal compared to the quagmire created by Bush's illegal war in Iraq, the contientious people at Air America vowed to repay the loan anyway. "We're not republicans, so we don't steal from poor people like Halliburton or corporations", said beloved talk show host Al Franken.

Air America has had some trouble with ratings, since only intelligent people (democrats) understand the concepts they speak about. Janeane Garofalo thinks "This problem could be solved if only Bush and Cheneyburton would spend more money teaching about gay sex in schools." While obviously true, most of American's tax dollars are given to Halliburton, or spent on the quagmire in Iraq.

This was written long before the blogs found out about Air America, but unfortunately a dog ate the report so it could not be filed :(

I suspect BARNEY the White House dog!

A new conspiracy theory grows!!

I hereby volunteer to be RWD's spellchecker.

'my Michael Jordan'

Awfully possesive, aren't we Ducky?

'department reporers'

Reporers, keeping the lines of mis-communication open at the NYT all day and night.

#4 - Posted by: SeanS on August 19, 2005 12:48 PM

Wow. I really did miss that..

I mean. no I meant that. Reporers just like ricky rouse or monald muck.

#5 - Posted by: RightWingDuck on August 19, 2005 12:51 PM

Expecting the NYT to do 1)fact-checking,2)investigative reporting,3)unbiased reporting, is like expecting Wiley E. Coyote to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. In short: it ain't gonna happen!

"3. Needed to make sure the story was valid - was waiting for it to be covered by Air America."

A well deserved LOL for that one Ducky!!!

Here's the text for a bumbper sticker entered in the Say Anthing bumper sticker contest:

"This Elliot Spitzer thing was just Rove's way of getting us in the NYT instead of him. Ha, it didn't work!"

#8 - Posted by: Porkopolis on August 19, 2005 03:53 PM

Here's a bumperstick I'd like to see: Gestating in the womb of the typical anti-war protester is more dangerous than serving in Iraq.

The real reason, obviously, is that like all the major news media, the NYT is controlled by radical right-wingers. And they want to keep Air Enron's malfeasances from liberals in order to maintain its ability to suck money away from anything that might actually advance liberal causes. You see, it's all a plot by Karl Rove ...

Lets be fair to the NY Times, friends-I heard that they have Jayson Blair working the AAR story. And that, according to Blair, AAR will be completely exonerated.

#11 - Posted by: fine dry wit on August 20, 2005 08:16 AM

The number 47 reason that the NYT does not cover the Err Amerika scandal?

BECAUSE RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A BIG FAT IDIOT!

wait...

BECAUSE DICK CHENEYBURTON IS THE DEVIL!

no... um,

BECAUSE, UH, REPUBLICANS WANT TO STARVE CHILDREN AND KILL OLD PEOPLE..

er, ah,

BECAUSE JUDGE ROBERTS IS OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM...

hang on...

BECAUSE OF VIETNAM! NIXON! WATERGATE!

BECAUSE JFK WOULDN"T HAVE WANTED US TO COVER IT!

#12 - Posted by: dave on August 20, 2005 09:16 AM

We at the Ny Times detect the nuances in this story and so will take a nuanced approach. Besides, everything is relative including corruption.

#13 - Posted by: johnt on August 20, 2005 10:53 AM

Perhaps it's because George Soros hasn't given them permission yet?

Also most of their staff is still tied-up researching that other delayed story on Chappaquiddick

Good ones, Ducky!

Found the link to your List Of Reasons at Michelle Malkin's Blog.

You're movin' up, kid!

37. Bernard Goldberg is one of the 100 people screwing up America.

#16 - Posted by: bob on August 21, 2005 12:02 AM

and the ultimate reason the New York Times hasn't written about the Air America Scandal... [drum roll please]

0. The mother who made the 'ultimate sacrifice', the mom with 'absolute moral authority', our Field Marshall of the war against the war in the ditch outside Crawford Texas, Mother General Cindy Sheehan - hasn't told us what to write yet!

[wild applause segueing into a chant: "Death to the fascist warmongering oil profiteering neocon..."]

#17 - Posted by: klrfz1 on August 21, 2005 11:13 AM

Reason #38 NYT has had a story on the rip off by AAR. the ap has written the story yet.
Besides A Fraken says he would give up his pay if nessary. that will cover a little more than half who else will give back what they stole from the chidren.

Kevin August 19, 2005 - "since only intelligent people (democrats) understand the concepts they speak about"

'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
- Samuel Johnson

Thanks for removing all doubt Kevin. Next time have the courage to leave a valid email.
