Friday Catblogging
Posted by Laurence Simon at 09:31 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (11)

Since it's Friday, I thought I'd spread the joy of humor-free, apolitical Friday Catblogging to IMAO (aka "I-MEOW").

Today, it's Piper The Rat in her favorite chair:

If you're not sure how this absurd scene pertains to IMAO, since IMAO is famous for that "political humor" thing, it doesn't. If you must have some semblance of politics or humor in everything you read here, just assume that Piper is... um...

Help me out here. Make your suggestions in the comments how this scene is, in fact, a political allegory.

(For more animal goodness, try Friday Ark today and Carnival of the Cats on Sundays.)

It's not exactly political, but it has political ramifications. Piper is expressing the sentiment of those poor New Orleanian refugees in Houston - they left a city with a football team that let 'em down at the last possible moment for a city with a baseball team that made it all the way, then was a similar let-down.

Indeed, as you can see from the photo of the tyrannical cat, Piper demonstrated the political power of George Bush. The yawning cat sits high on the chair on a nice blankie, not on the floor. Piper’s dutiful spider (Barbara) upholds his sports team flag without complaint. The numerous books to the cat’s right are the connections to his crony advisors. And finally, we can clearly see the ginning jack-o-lantern of Karl Rove running everything from behind the scenes. Quite disturbing.

There's some secret conspiracy going on here. Ever since I saw this pic, I can't stop yawning.

It's mind control, I tell you.

It’s obvious that she is watching C-SPAN and shouting at a liberal senator.

The cat is obviously George Bush sitting in relative comfort. The Astros flag shows his support of a failed war (a "quagmire" if you will). The spider is the conservative base that helped him get his war by voting him into office (see, spider holding flag!). The jack-o-lantern in the background is, of course, Karl Rove. The books to his left indicate that all the knowledge is held by the left (conservatives are dumb). The afghan Bush is sitting on represents all the countries (like Afghanistan, but more) that Bush is oppressing or occupying, literally or figuratively. The cat collar is obviously a symbol of the control Rove has over him. His large yawn shows his laziness most aptly shown when he's on the ranch. The wooden chair back shows how Bush should be in jail, but is not.

Bummer the lefty already got the afghan pun.

The spider behind represents another venomous creature exposed and out of his spider hole, waving a banner for a lost cause (sorry, Simon, I live near Chicago – for which I’m sorry as well). Cat is Bush, bored and controlling the domain of both the spider and the afghan, perfectly capable of making a huge lazy mistake – such as the empty headed judicial nominee in the background, smiling vacantly and soon to be forgotten in the basement by Tuesday.

I mean, did he just flip his address book open to the middle and say, “OK, the M’s. Hmmmmm. She’s a lawyer, that’ll work.” Or did she jokingly say, “nominate me”, and he took her seriously and didn’t want to hurt her feelings? Guys, you know what I’m talking about, and you are probably still paying off the credit card.

She's laughing at all the moonbats who were wetting their pants at the thought of Rove being indicted today.

Piper is practicing her evil cackle, but obviously has a ways to go. It's a commie-cat conspiracy. The Astros flag is a disguised Chinese flag. MAO is Chinese for "cat", or for "mass-murdering dictator," depending on the tone. After the takeover, she will cackle at Frank J. for being distracted by monkeys and missing the real threat.

It's plain to see that Piper is...

Well she's just the cutest little kitty in the whole wide world and... Damn it Lair, her cuteness distracted me from saying something political.

#9 - Posted by: SeanS on October 28, 2005 09:11 PM

My guess is it's a yawn... getting bored that the world series is over already and just patiently waiting for Al Gore's TV network...

#10 - Posted by: Chris on October 28, 2005 10:17 PM

Piper says Astros suck.

Sweep, sweep!
