Another Opinion... Sort Of
Thanks to reader Andrew C. to alerting me that there is a review of The Weapon at Blackfive from Laughing Wolf. In the end, he had pretty much the same reaction I did.
Book reviewing is new to me, but I need to read more as I aspire to be a writer myself so don't be suprised if more pop-up.
And more In My Worlds™; people seem to like those.
TM now huh? good for you! me like Frankie's world too.
I got a mention! By Frank J! You made my day! Glad I could help.
If you really want to become a great writer, you should read fewer pop-up books, not more.
I think, when you hyphenate "pop-up" (e.g., "don't be surprised if more pop-up") it becomes a noun, instead of a transitive verb (or whatever).
"Did you see Joe Schmoe pop up in the bottom of the ninth?"
"Oh, right. Joe Biddlefisk caught the pop-up to retire the side and win the game."
