The Only Thing I Might Pull Out Is My Foot Out of Your Ass... But It's Unlikely
Posted by Frank J. at 12:34 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (19)

A Marine is hit by an IED, and, as soon as he is patched up, he stands up and flips the captured terrorist the bird (he refused being brought to the helicopter on a stretcher so as not to show the terrorist weakness).

That's like Chuck Norris bad.

He probably could have gone home on that injury but didn't want to. Semper Fi.

Way cool photo and thank goodness for the "cod piece" portion of body armor.

I must take issue with your Norris comment though. I think he'd be poopin' his depends; now Jack Bauer, that's another matter . . .

#2 - Posted by: Stalwart on February 2, 2006 12:45 PM

Stalwart,
Chuck won't like that.

Be afraid.

#3 - Posted by: Undercover Hippie on February 2, 2006 12:50 PM

Thanks for featuring this again. I was wondering if this article was going to make Snopes. That site has kind of a lefty slant.

Chuck Norris WISHES he could be so cool.

#4 - Posted by: sarasmom on February 2, 2006 01:03 PM

That finger's from all of us!

#5 - Posted by: jonag on February 2, 2006 01:04 PM

I believe he is also made a bet with a terrorist to prove who can withstand the blast from an IED....the terrorist ran, thus the giving of the finger

#6 - Posted by: ChaldoZach on February 2, 2006 01:11 PM

That picture does capture the spirit of the marines.

Geez, Terrorists are such pussies. Hiding and using telephones to fight. Its like they are french ladies.

#7 - Posted by: teejay on February 2, 2006 01:35 PM

It's a well known fact that gunnery sergeants are made entirely of steel cable, ductile iron, rawhide and the bones of their enemies, so it's no surprise that he survived a puny IED. Seems fitting as well that his nickname is Iron Mike.

HOOOAHH! (Ooh, I think I pulled an abdominal muscle)

#8 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on February 2, 2006 02:53 PM

PM, sine he's a Marine, shouldn't you sound off an Ooh Rah? Or is the HooAhh your branch of the service?

#9 - Posted by: DesertElephant on February 2, 2006 04:54 PM

Let's send that picture around the world.

#10 - Posted by: McWert Deglieb on February 2, 2006 04:57 PM

Amazing. Chuck Norris could do that, but only while wearing pants.

#11 - Posted by: George guy on February 2, 2006 05:40 PM

Yeah. Me Army. But you're right, there is a difference, so let me be precise:

Ooh Rah, Gunny!

BTW, does the Air Force have a patented grunt? Maybe, Zoooom!, or "Capital!" (on account of them being so smart and all)

Of course the Navy is "Maaan Overboooard!"

#12 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on February 2, 2006 05:42 PM

If he was giving the finger to a general this would be an instant Pulitzer prize photo.God bless you all, service men and women.

#13 - Posted by: DohXs on February 2, 2006 06:21 PM

I thought the Air Forces was,"Up we go into the wild blue yonder"

#14 - Posted by: ChaldoZach on February 2, 2006 07:35 PM

That's badass!

#15 - Posted by: indolene on February 2, 2006 09:09 PM

Now thats some fighting spirit! Respect to all the fighting men and women in the US Military. Just want to let you all know that you have support from at least some of us here in Europe. We're not all leftist-idiots.

#16 - Posted by: Norseman on February 3, 2006 07:43 AM

Wow.

I love our guys(and gals).

#17 - Posted by: MM on February 3, 2006 12:46 PM

Yeah, Great photo, Great story; I'm glad it is true & good one to disseminate.

However one does not have to be a lefty to realise that that particular war is amongst the most stupid in history.

Illadvised, illconceived and illegal. Anyone who still suggests it has reduced global terrorism should put on a uniform hiself and try raisng a finger in Iraq

#18 - Posted by: walterwalcarpit on February 6, 2006 12:17 AM

I think most people just believe that our "illegal war in Iraq" has reduced terrorism in the United States of America, which is precisely the reason men and women like the gunnery seargent are there in the first place.
