It's Time to Face Facts: The War Against Bush Is Unwinnable
An Editorial by Frank J.
Posted by Frank J. at 12:02 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (56)

The Democrats and progressives have been waging a war on Bush for years now. It started out for admirable reasons - getting Bush out of power using any means possible - but now it has become obvious that this can no longer be accomplished. Instead, the only ones losing power are Democrats. This war has to end.

"We thought the American people would welcome us as liberators."

How many Democrats have lost office in this fight against Bush? While people seem to care about the death counts in Iraq, no one takes note as the number of Democrats who have lost office increases. Not only that, but there is the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from losing against Bush. It is obvious that Al Gore will never be able to live a normal life again and will require constant supervision for the rest of his days. Just check the internet for more instances of people having lost their minds trying to fight against the ethereal foe that is the Bush Presidency. And, to what end is this?

Some will still argue that progress is being made, pointing to Bush's low approval ratings. "Sure," they say, "we weren't able to get rid of him in 2004, but soon enough people will turn against him to impeach him!" This is pure idealism that ignores the attitudes of those we are trying to free from the tyranny of Bush. We thought the American people would welcome us as liberators when we kept up our full out attacks on Bush, but they are obviously more concerned with terrorists than Bush and have turned against us Bush-attackers. It's sad, but it is true.

So, do we give up and let Bush win? I'm afraid to say he already has won. Perhaps one day we could make people fear Bush more than terrorists, but, if we keep up in this way, there will be no Democrats left in office by the time that happens. We have to admit to ourselves that we attacked Bush without any real strategy for victory, and now it is time to pullout of this conflict. Instead, we must try and get Democrats back in power by focusing on our core issues: piddling-crap things such as healthcare and other free-handouts.

The war against Bush is just not worth another Democratic politician.

Well said Frank...where's the "applause" button?

BTW....FIRST!!

#1 - Posted by: sarasmom on February 13, 2006 12:33 PM

It went from "infrequent" to "frequent" with just one podcast. Congrats.

#2 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on February 13, 2006 12:42 PM

are you all really that stupid, or just the author? the "war" against bush.. why is it that with EITHER screwed up, monetarily backed and based political party, if someone has the unmitigated gall to say "i don't like that schmuck (insert bush photo here)" then it is assumed they are attacking all that is good and holy! damn, get off the cross you (never thought i'd be forced to say this) you bleeding heart republican whiney babies. gah!

#3 - Posted by: angrywoman on February 13, 2006 02:09 PM

HILARIOUS! I love your editorials.

#4 - Posted by: Infinity8Ball on February 13, 2006 02:14 PM

BTW, I went back and checked out your puppy blending post, and in the comment section, several people have started advertising their websites. Just thought you should know.

#5 - Posted by: Infinity8Ball on February 13, 2006 02:14 PM

Watch out angrywoman, that low flying satire just barely went over your head.

#6 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on February 13, 2006 03:36 PM

uh...Frank. "ephemeral" means "Lasting for a markedly brief time: “There remain some truths too ephemeral to be captured in the cold pages of a court transcript” (Irving R. Kaufman).
Living or lasting only for a day, as certain plants or insects do." which I don't think is the message you want to portray....

anyways, good stuff.

#7 - Posted by: Tristan on February 13, 2006 03:42 PM

Tristan,
Maybe I meant ethereal; language is hard.

#8 - Posted by: Frank J. on February 13, 2006 03:44 PM

Hey. Anyone got an email address for Cindy Sheehan? Frank, you've got to send this to her.

#9 - Posted by: azlibertarian on February 13, 2006 03:55 PM

Is it just me, or does that picture of Frank J look kind of like the picture you see of Ted Rall (except that Frank doesn't look like an talentless a-hole)?

#10 - Posted by: Ira on February 13, 2006 07:24 PM

You give new meaning to the term 'bushwackers'.

#11 - Posted by: docdave on February 13, 2006 07:30 PM

Frank, ethereal means light and delicate or hard to grasp. Think, of the ether. I don't think that's what you meant either. I'm thinking you meant something along the lines of unpredictable

#12 - Posted by: on February 14, 2006 12:05 AM

"The Population Bomb: A Brief History of the Palestinians"
I so want to read that book but Amazon isn't listing it. Bastids.

Frank J, "epherical" isn't a word so don't use it. I would use "euphemial" instead.

Or maybe you could use "chimerical" as that would probably make sense.

#14 - Posted by: Veeshir on February 14, 2006 07:16 AM

No, I meant it to be some intangiable concept like terror.

#15 - Posted by: Frank J. on February 14, 2006 09:13 AM

I liked chimerical because it's:adj, 1:existing only as the product of unchecked imagination

I mean, anybody who thinks he's both an idiot and a machiavellian mastermind (machiavellian idiot in other words) has some serious reality problems.

#16 - Posted by: Veeshir on February 14, 2006 12:42 PM

You guys are really sad, like the Foreigner fans still buying the CDs long after the band went to shit.

"Yeah, man, that new CD rocks"

"Oh yeah! Like, totally. Foreigner rule!"

#17 - Posted by: unSane on February 14, 2006 01:13 PM

But... the new CD DOES rock. Forever!

#18 - Posted by: Tom Maguire on February 14, 2006 01:24 PM

Angrywoman, you are the best !!!

I thought the article was really good - biting satire that poked fun at the left's faux concerned intellectualism -
but then you came along and iced the cake!!!

ROTFLAMO !!

#19 - Posted by: Steve R on February 14, 2006 01:24 PM

But... the new CD DOES rock. Forever!

#20 - Posted by: Tom Maguire on February 14, 2006 01:33 PM

Heh. Never noticed that before. He DOES look like Ted Rall. Sorry, but true.

Frank J, "epherical" isn't a word so don't use it. I would use "euphemial" instead.

How about aspherical?

#22 - Posted by: Slartibartfast on February 14, 2006 01:44 PM

Well, angrywoman, money will rule the day as long as the citizens continue to use their franchise to vote themselves gifts at the expense of the productive. When the voters shed the delusion that government force is the answer to social reform, then the corruption can end.

I'm not hopeful that the mass of citizens will ever understand that limited government is the road to liberty; after all, most of us are schooled by government agents who teach--surprise!--that government is the source of all good things.

Our votes are for sale, and no one is ashamed of that.

#23 - Posted by: Brett on February 14, 2006 01:50 PM

Angrywoman,

Thanks for underscoring the widespread assumption that liberals have absolutely no sense of humor and are emotionally ungoverned. My God, girl, lighten up--life is good.

#24 - Posted by: Brad on February 14, 2006 01:59 PM

I don't like euphernial or euphemial or even aspherical.

How about canonical or abysinnial?

Other than that it is just spot on. I love angrywoman. She's just so warm, cuddly and creamy. In a word she's corporeal.

#25 - Posted by: subrot on February 14, 2006 02:27 PM

Actually, unSane, we just download the latest Foreigner album via P2P so we can say we have it, and never bother listening to it.

#26 - Posted by: triticale on February 14, 2006 02:36 PM

Hey man, you can knock my president, that is your God given right to free speech, but to sling that mud at Foreigner, that is just uncalled for =^).

#27 - Posted by: James Stephenson on February 14, 2006 02:36 PM

I think Frank is kinda cute, in an uptight completely conservative way.

#28 - Posted by: M. P. G. on February 14, 2006 02:45 PM

So when can we expect a Democratic withdrawal from the quagmire called Congress? Sadly, never. Some wars are more important than others...

Love the compassionate headtilt. The 20 degree angle is just inclined enough to fool most humor-impaired moonbats yet not so inclined as to induce neck cramps. But the facial expression is more "I'm Brian Williams" than "Oh, please crucify me for the sins of my countrymen."

Oh, you're going for the "informed opinion" angle? Not the "martyred intellectual" angle? Sorry, never mind. But you've still got a kickin' head tilt. Wear it with pride.

#29 - Posted by: Tongueboy on February 14, 2006 03:09 PM

Perfect. Couldn't wait to put up a link to this one.

#30 - Posted by: The FLY on February 14, 2006 03:13 PM

To those complaining about ethereal/ephemeral etc., I suggest trying "cavil" instead: to raise petty and irritating objections. I read this editorial twice before I was convinced it was satire. It seemed so...true, convincing. But sadly, it wasn't.

Angrywoman

You are the personification of your party. May you long aspire to second place. First place is beyond your imagination or reach.

#32 - Posted by: on February 14, 2006 03:28 PM

You guys are really sad, like the Foreigner fans still buying the CDs long after the band went to shit.

"Yeah, man, that new CD rocks"

"Oh yeah! Like, totally. Foreigner rule!"

How DARE you blaspheme Foreigner (peace be upon them)!? I hereby declare a Foreigner-fatwa on unSane!

Oh, and peace also be upon Frank J. not only for speaking truth to "power" (a word that can be used only loosely with the Dems) but doing so in their own language.

#33 - Posted by: Joshua on February 14, 2006 04:25 PM

Steve R: "ROTFLAMO"

OK, is that, "Rolling on the floor laughing a$$ my off" ??

#34 - Posted by: on February 14, 2006 05:32 PM

"... we kept up are full out attacks on Bush..."

'we keep up our', not 'we keep up are'.

Just trying to be helpful, sorry to be a grammar Nazi.

Hey, this site is almost as good as blamebush.typepad.com

#36 - Posted by: libmeister on February 14, 2006 07:15 PM

How do you ask a man to be the last Democrat to leave office for a mistake?

#37 - Posted by: Brian on February 14, 2006 07:43 PM

ROTFLAMO: Rolling on the floor, laughing at my otter? (orifice?)

Nice commentary Frank!

#38 - Posted by: sbaxter on February 14, 2006 07:58 PM

Al Gore should have been locked up a year ago. He is for sure suffering from "Shell Shock". Or was he always crazy and the Clintons just shielded him from us? In either case he belongs in a nut house for the safety of all of us as well as his own.

#39 - Posted by: Jo macDougal on February 14, 2006 08:05 PM

"Perhaps one day we could make people fear Bush more than terrorists"

By my calculations that will happen sometime toward the end of this year when the war which defines Bush's presidency will have killed more Americans than bin Laden has.

#40 - Posted by: epistemology on February 14, 2006 08:47 PM

Angrywoman, I've been waiting.....for a girl like you.....to come into my life....

Great stuff, Frank. Unspherical, too.

#41 - Posted by: Larry on February 14, 2006 09:08 PM

Yes, it seems like no matter how many corruption stories come out, no matter how bad the news might be in Iraq, no matter how low Bush's popularity may go, when it comes time to vote, we Democrats lose. Just today, on the front page of the New York Times, was a story on the $7 billion windfall to oil companies exploiting federal lands. But no one cares about that. Instead we debate or joke about Dick Cheney shooting somebody, or how awful is Hillary Clinton, Al Gore or whomever is on the denunciation list for the day.

#42 - Posted by: Stephen on February 14, 2006 09:32 PM

UZI4U,

I think you meant you didn't want to be a grammar Republican! :)

#43 - Posted by: Peter on February 14, 2006 11:30 PM

Re: "Insane or Stupid? A Guide to Judging Moonbats".

This is just the book those of us engaged in exposing The Minions of W.A.C.K.I.E.( World Allied Conspiratorial Kongress of Idiotarians Everywhere ) have been waiting for!

However, like your OTHER book, Amazon isn't carrying it yet either.

What are they waiting for, fer cryin' out loud?

An Oprah recommendation?

#44 - Posted by: Kiril, The Mad Macedonian on February 15, 2006 02:58 AM

He meant "elusive" - as in hard to get to grips with, always wriggling out of reach, difficult to punch on the nose, that sort of thing

#45 - Posted by: Lee Moore on February 15, 2006 03:13 AM

This post has left me with no doubt that such a transparent weaving of a 'straw man' argument will soon replicate throughout the Right blogsphere. The far-fetched goals allegedly motivating the Dems are not based on any realistic electoral scenario that would trigger Impeachment. You disingenuously argue that some continued blind campaign to 'get Bush' is still the Liberal focus. You assume that because Bush still has his Conservative base and retains credit for no new terrorist attacks, he has again thwarted the Democrats. You're mitigating Bush's political damage based solely on the inability of the Democrats to achieve the greatest benefit from it, as a result.

Your assumptions are justly based on the realities of the Nov. 2004 election results. However, they are also rooted in the delusion that the last 14 months of Bush's second term never happened.

Just because Republican voters tell pollster they support the President does not mean they're not embarrassed by the incompetence, scandal and lies. And if Bush salvages 40% percent approval upon leaving office, do not assume history will be less harsh.

Taking back the House come November would be sweet, and you're right, the Dems would unleash a fury of investigations. Yet, gaining a significant number of seats and sending Santorum and DeLay packing, ain't a bad consolation prize.

You see, we realize there won't be a citizen revolt against Bush, contradicting the impression we're impatient. While it may take two years to make the case against Bush and the corrupt GOP, it's also long enough to make the case for Hillary.

#46 - Posted by: that colored fella on February 15, 2006 04:18 AM

While it may take two years to make the case against Bush
That's the spirit. Learn nothing from the above editorial. Damn the torpedoes, full speed down!
I figure as Condi Rice is running for her second term in 2020, the Dems and the media (redundancy alert) will still be attacking Bush.
And then, we get Bush's daughters running and hilarity will definitely ensue.
Does Karl Rove have any kids? Or should we just clone him?

FWIW: Iraq & Saddam needed to go to make the world a better place. Regardless of finding nukes.

What about the French who had the same intel, but didn't agree with the invasion? Or the Germans who sold nuke making piping to Iraq?

WMD? No nukes, some gas, but lots of jetsm rockets and bombs. Really, what are WMD? Were the jets that flew into the towers WMDs? Hmmmm.

Hey Angry Woman,

urgent

#51 - Posted by: Kevin Landry on February 16, 2006 01:05 AM

ok, ya silly boys (and if'n you're a girl here, sorry.. you'll just have to live with the insult..)

i am the personification of my party!! woooo hooo!!! i didn't know that beer bongs and keg floats were a party, but damn .. mom, there's no stopping me now!

the first postback says that the lowflying satire barely went over my head... gee.. from your fellows laughing, congratulating themselves and said "author".. it doesn't read as satire.. it reads as hilarious, but only in it's intense and meaninful angst.

the second postback states that i somehow ice the cake re: the "LEFT'S FAUX CONCERNED INTELLECTUALISM".. had you read the post AND understood it you would have noticed that i bashed both parties, both the left and the right, for being overly sensitive twits who need a diaper changing.. try again.

third postback told me to lighten up.. well, if i didn't know any better, i'd think i was the only one laughing my ass off.. but then, that wouldn't fit with what you'd like to believe so...

fourth? i'm corporeal! yay! finally someone, somewhere believes i'm actually real and that i must have actual body tissue and functions and what not.. finally, i'm vindicated. sigh.

now then.. lastly would be larry, who's been waiting for a girl like me in his life.. which kinda girl would that be? leftist? rightist? libertarian? how about simply one who thinks of her own accord without regard to being flamed on a weblog that is definitively conservative?
well here i am LOL

angrywoman

#52 - Posted by: angrywoman on February 16, 2006 10:36 PM

If you're so "smurt", "angrywoman", why is it you can't seem to find the Shift key? Or are you too busy patting yourself on the back for being "clever" (read: mental masturbation) to study a keyboard long enough to actually find it?

#53 - Posted by: Nanashi on February 17, 2006 01:23 PM

nanashi.. i don't find it necessary in a forum such as this.. one that is casual, fairly informal, etc., to fight too hard with capitalization. the one thing that i do insist upon, within myself anyway, is .. well, we will call it a sense of honor, in which we (yes, the royal we) do not act in idiocy.. for instance, as you do. it is really very sad how many people can read a post that disagrees with them and therefore they find cause to demonize it... had you read more closely (all of you) you'd have noted that i'm not a democrat.. i'm not a liberal.. i'm simply someone who sees the blatant and flagrant misuse of power and (for whatever reason you ppl fall for it) voter support to find an end to their own means. whatever.. you want to stay ignorant, it's no skin off my nose.. you'll simply be closer to a darwin award than you were last week.. so be it.

#54 - Posted by: angrywoman on February 18, 2006 04:32 AM

angrywoman

Yes. I got you, and wondered if anyone would figure out what you were actually saying. Come on though. IMAO's always worth a giggle, and to Frank J's credit, that's what he really wants this to be. How can you read "In my world" and not give him a break?

#55 - Posted by: Kathy on February 18, 2006 09:12 PM

You know, 'angrywoman', the Bard once said that "brevity is the soul of wit." Sort of blew that one, didn't you? Aren't you just a special little angel.

Allow me shorten the sum of all the posts you've written here into a few simple, easy to read words: "I am a pretentious twat whoring myself out for attention."

But I notice you failed to note that I neither called you a liberal or in any way called out whatever your trifling, self-important opinions are. I simply called you out on your egocentric mental masturbation. Just as you claim to be "against any government waste", I am against narcissistic pseudo-intellectuals -- particularly humourless ones who can't spell -- regardless of affiliation.

So...how's that bid on your Darwin Award going?
