That's what I was thinking!!!! What in the h*** is he talking about?!?!?!?! Well thank goodness for Hollywood or otherwise women wouldn't vote and black would still sit in the back of the bus. Phew I say thank God for George Clooney for so acurately representing the US in what I like to call the Olympics for the movie "industry". All the Americans came so close to winning but just not close enough. I guess Europe just produces a more quality socialist than we do... #2 - Posted by: Daniel B on March 5, 2006 10:16 PMYou know what we used to call people who are so certain that they're better than anyone else? Assholes. #3 - Posted by: RFTR on March 5, 2006 10:22 PMHmmmm, sounds like a few of us aren't coming up with many dates at conservativematch.com, are we? #4 - Posted by: ginrickey on March 5, 2006 10:37 PMUm . . . sorry, missed that one. #5 - Posted by: lotr-c on March 5, 2006 11:06 PMIn the future A-List actors will evolve with back-patting appendages on their backs. They will also have an organ shaped like the Betty Ford clinic that detoxes the blood and cures addition while they sleep, and their appendix will turn into a subdural divorce lawyer. Some actors have already developed various survival strategies like the inflatable hands that suddenly grow 2 sizes when confronted with an over-zealous prosecutor. Ah, the human form. So beautiful, except when wearing that thing Zandra Rhodes had on. What were you thinking, girlfriend? #6 - Posted by: madhun on March 6, 2006 12:10 AMYou're so clever. #7 - Posted by: Sean Swenson on March 6, 2006 12:22 AMCures "addition" of what? I didn't know "addition" was habit forming, other than with credit cards. #8 - Posted by: JimboNC on March 6, 2006 12:44 AMrandom Oscar note: What an elitist. Doesn't Rosemary's baby realize that there's broadway and the music industry to thank as well? #10 - Posted by: AlanABQ on March 6, 2006 03:15 AMWhat Mr. Clooney failed to mention when he pointed out Hattie McDaniel's 1939 Oscar is that the "liberated" Academy wrote her speech for her beforehand. It included the line " and I will continue to strive to be a credit to my race". Cures an "addition" to spell-checkers I hope. #12 - Posted by: madhun on March 6, 2006 05:08 AMI so agree. This set me up to turn the whole thing off when the bleeping hiphop song won. #13 - Posted by: Julia on March 6, 2006 06:10 AMJulia, the hip-hop song winning was a highlight for me. I LOVE it when they give Oscars to hip-hoppers and then you look at all the snobs in the audience who all look around with the "who farted?" look on their face, because they just cahn't beleeeeeve that such riff-raff could win their precious Oscars. #14 - Posted by: sarahk on March 6, 2006 07:09 AMThe LA times is waxing eloquent about Loony-Clooney today. They maintain that since winning the sexist man alive award (by some magizine, which one I forget) and three oscar nominations, our boy George is just the Cat's Meow. There's really only one small problem. He goes and opens his big mouth and proves that one can't tell a book by it's cover. He may look like a masterpiece (I really don't see it) but he's really a bad comic book (my apologies to comic book lovers everywhere). No substance, no style, no intelligence and NO sense of humor. In fact there is little vituous, lovely or praiseworthy to recommend him. #15 - Posted by: seanmahair on March 6, 2006 10:11 AMLet's cut to the chase and bet Vegas money: Who's gonna win this war...will George Clooney change the world, or will the world resist George Clooney? #16 - Posted by: Brian on March 6, 2006 12:10 PMLOL, this post is awesome. All awards ceremonies like this (i.e., Oscars/Academy awards, Grammy's, Emmy's, SAG awards, etc.) are just another chance for Hollywood to glorify themselves and pat themselves (and occasionally each other, when they're feeling nice) on the back. I wonder what they do with all of their trophies? They probably all have personal shrines devoted to themselves that keeps their ever-inflating egos going and going and going. Which is why Hollywood is so much better than us. Silly us... we actually thought humility was an honorable trait. Thank goodness the Hollywood elite are there to remind us of otherwise. #17 - Posted by: Janna on March 6, 2006 12:32 PMWho is George Clooney? He looks vaguely familiar, but I can't place the face. Wasn't he on some tired old hospital show way back in the 1980s or something? Is he really still around? #19 - Posted by: Memphis Steve on March 6, 2006 02:07 PMThat gif is great! I don't see the charm in Clooney. I also can't stand his smug arrogance. #20 - Posted by: Wordsmith on March 6, 2006 02:40 PMDolly Parton's breasts could feed an entire third world nation. She chooses to selfishly keep them covered. Sharing is caring, Dolly. #21 - Posted by: Billius on March 6, 2006 03:06 PMI usually don't watch this junk, but the wife is into it, so I saw it. I like Clooney as an actor. I like the roles he plays, and I like the way he plays them (Danny Ocean, the guy from Three Kings, etc). He is a liberal nut-job, too. That's a given. However, you have to give him credit for a good speech. Yes, the speech is counter to what many here believe, but it was well written, contained several salient points, and was persuasive. The problem is that we don't have a Clooney on our side. We don't have someone with his charm and the wit of Ann Coulter. We'd knock them all dead if we did. http://technocrusader.blogspot.com #22 - Posted by: knight_308 on March 6, 2006 03:54 PMGeorge Clooney was once a regular on the TV show "Roseanne"; his name was Booker, he dated Jackie. #23 - Posted by: shimauma on March 6, 2006 08:08 PMI boycotted the Oscars, and was elated to hear that 'Looney Clooney' didn't get what he wanted. Hollywood needs to realize that if we want to hear/see a political opinion, we don't go to movies to hear one. In fact, I boycott movies, sponsers, and TV programs by leftist actors who use their professions as bully pulpits to impose their political views on others. I have become very 'actor sensitive' to the movies I see and rent, and encourage others to do so as well. My wallet and vote is my bully pulpit. #24 - Posted by: Willow Wind on March 6, 2006 11:33 PMMemphis Steve: That show went right down the tubes as soon as Anthony Edwards left/was killed off. #25 - Posted by: MegaTroopX on March 7, 2006 03:14 PMSeanmahair: Didn't Patrick Stewart win that? I remember because it makes me feel better about going bald. :) #26 - Posted by: MegaTroopX on March 7, 2006 03:18 PMThis is hilarious! I love it! Thanks for the good laugh! #27 - Posted by: Wild Thing on March 7, 2006 05:38 PMJust as Mr Clooney concluded his revisionist history class at the Oscars, the camera gave a big picture of the crowd, and you had to search really hard to find African Americans in the audience. Anthony Hopkins was right when he said that Hollywood movie makers think they are smarter than the audience. #28 - Posted by: Angelo Zenga on March 8, 2006 09:51 AMRegarding statement "PROUD-TO-BE-OUT-OF-TOUCH", writers, bloggers, and ideas are needed to develop / launch / promote the following fair-and-balanced domains. 1.
