I agree that it's weird and I can't quite resolve some issues. Like the president's chief of staff who medicated the first lady, changed contents of some phone call from the assassinated former president, then hung himself when it was discovered he was helping the terrorists.

The other part about the president going along with the assassination of the russian prez and the first lady because he didn't want the terrorists to release the centox gas.

I don't know. I'm just confused.

It doesn't... I think the writers of this show don't know how it's going to end when they start writing it. I've heard that they have two teams of writers and the story evolves after the season begins... so the characters (or the actors playing them) really have no idea how their role will play out. This is problematic though because if you remember back to the beginning of the season... there are things these characters do that don't add up when you find out later that they're corrupt. But I guess that's just TV for ya.

Another thing... I've heard some of my coworkers compare Pres. Logan to Bush because he's a pansy (I work with a bunch of moonbats... and I cope by listening to Glenn Beck on my headphones each day) :) ... so now they're saying that Logan *really* is like Bush because he's behind all of the terrorists. Whatever. I hate loser conspiracy theories. I hope that 24 isn't trying to suggest this sort of thing... because 24 is one of the only shows on television that doesn't seem to have a political agenda. I like not really knowing which side of the political fence these 24 "politicians" are on. It's the best show on TV just for that reason. You can't even go to the movies these days anymore without some Hollywood liberal agenda crammed down your throat. It's disgusting. That's why I don't go to the movies anymore. And then Hollywood wonders why they're not selling tickets? :)

wimp president creates dire situation so he can come to the rescue in the end, therefore securing his legacy as a non-wimp.

can't say i saw it coming but it makes sense to me...

kinda reminds me of hillary saying she wished 9/11 had happened while bill was in office so he could have proved how tough he was...

It does explain why Robocop is evil-
Logan invoked Directive 4.

1. Serve the Public Trust
2. Protect the Innocent
3. Uphold the Law
4. ...Unless President Pinkytoe Tells You Otherwise

Don't forget, this is a show that keeps you guessing right up until the last minute of the day. Like, who knew that Sherri Palmer was part of the nuke (the moon) plot in season two? Ther may be a much bigger conspiracy than what we have seen up to even now.

plus, Re: Cummings. Theory #1: He didn't actually hang himself, but the Secret Service guards may have been planted by Frenchy, and may have been the ones who hung Cummings. After all, Cummings was going to use that gas on the rebels, and Frenchy was trying to do away with the Russian president.

Them more I think about it, the more possible it actually seems. Think back to season one. You would have never thought that Nina was dirty. Sherry being involved in the nuke plot in season 2, as was mentioned earlier, although I don't think it's really THAT far a stretch.

Walt obviously had a different agenda than Logan and was "taken care of" because of it.

I still can't say I get it though.

They seem to be reaching with this one. It is not so much to be incompetent, now he has to be duplicitous too. Sounds like liberal double-speak to me. This season has been going down the tubes for the last month. Now it seems we are about to reach an entirely new level of crazy. Maybe next week they will reveal that Chloe has been behind the last five terrorist attacks (because she is secretly in love with Jack and he keeps forgetting her birthday), Jack will almost die in another explosion, and Edgar will return, not really dead just a little slower than before.

Maybe he just wants us to THINK he's incompetent. In which case he's doing a pretty good job.

I agree with Shane.

It's the reverse vampires!!!

We are through the looking glass here people.

I made a decision halfway through hour two of this season not to bother. And I'm happy with that decision, because reading SarahK's liveblogging is much more entertaining; I mean Jack Bauer never uses the word pinkytoe. What's up with that? Sometimes, however, I do miss Chloe and her lethal Stink-eye looks.

Its interesting though, that the governments original mistake will be their downfall. You see, the original plan was to have the gas shipped to Russia, and detonated on the terrorists, but they messed that up, forcing the president to activate "The Jack". Now, most should agree that Jack was the best choice to stop the terrorists, but unfortunately the president underestimated CTU and Jack's competence.

Anyways, as far as Cummings goes...he might have just killed himself, even if he knew the president was in on it. He knew that he would really be open to unpleasant means of persuasion, on account of CTU, and that at that point, the president would be about to kill him anyways. I say he took the easy road. Its not like no one has committed suicide during this season, right? Henderson probably would if he wasnt so important to the overall mission.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Prez modify a conversation the First Lady had with the late President Palmer? Perhaps that will come into play later this season.

#12 - Posted by: Anthony on April 4, 2006 09:26 PM

several points:

1) cummings probably didn't know the president was in on it. the prez is the top layer and cummings interacted with middle men

2) prez is using dumbness to cover true intellect, that is used badly

3) the prez may actaully be dumb and incompetent, but is being forced to do this by someone higher up

4)24 is simply awesome...gotta get the GF to start watching

#13 - Posted by: Hari on April 4, 2006 10:23 PM

Have you seen how incompetantly the President has handled the crises so far this season?

Either he's an idiot, or he's in league with the terrorists. Or very likely, both.
