All in all, he's just another vandal with a paint can. By the way, which one's Pink?

#1 - Posted by: Pat Rand on June 23, 2006 11:28 AM

Yup...that'll take care of things all right! Another goofy liberal loser! Probably jerking off to DKOS by now...

#2 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on June 23, 2006 11:47 AM

Oh, he’s making a statement. As much as I like the Rock and Roll thing and groups like Pink Floyd, I can’t take them seriously. Juvenile whining seems to be the major theme in their lyrics. This sort of infantile gesture is just another example. Pathetic.

I own a copy of the Wall and like it for all the wrong reasons. I always did think it was a perfectly good reflection of a generation of pouting juveniles who couldn’t deal with life. Help Me! I’m an oppressed juvenile lashing out at a crewel world.

He’ll never get passed it.

PS: ‘Wish You Where Here’ was a far better album by the way.

#3 - Posted by: Neo-andertal on June 23, 2006 12:04 PM

Wish you Were Here was much better than the Wall, but my favorite is Animals.

Roger Waters is just another self-important fart sniffer who refuses to move past the glory days of the late 60s.

Viva David Gilmour!

And Bush is a tenderheated maricón because he does not do the same (a wall) in the south border?

nice photoshop.

If not for this comment section, I'd have had no idea who the F.. that old guy is. IMAO comments: a chewy educational experience with a hint of Bourbon.

mmmmmm, Bourbon...

#7 - Posted by: HKPistole on June 23, 2006 12:59 PM

Say senor Portolet, are chu a peekle smoker?

#8 - Posted by: Ben Decko on June 23, 2006 01:04 PM

Bourbon? I thought this was the grain alcohol comment section. Anyway, Ive got a mouse...he's a pretty little mouse...

#9 - Posted by: Pat Rand on June 23, 2006 01:06 PM

HKPistole, I think Roger Waters is the guy who "mounted" the chicken in that movie "Pink Flamingos". Please excuse me while I vomit.

Of course,
Profecia

And our great Race will depart in search of a new India, that does not exist in space, in ships built with the stuff dreams are made of. And its true and supreme destiny, which navigators work was but a obscure and carnal pre whim, will divinely come.
Translated to barbaric by PP My Party

#11 - Posted by: porto on June 23, 2006 01:19 PM

Sorry, Mudshark, I don't know that one either. Either way, if the consensus on IMAO is that the guy's a dick, I trust IMAO's judgement. As should all who populate this world.

Now, back to the bourbon!

(I know what a "pink" is, but whut'n thee Hell is a "floyd"?!?)

#12 - Posted by: HKPistole on June 23, 2006 01:25 PM

What's wrong with mounting a flamingo? Taxidermy as an artform preceeds the advent of soccer. By the Moons of Mithra, Roger Waters is my favorite philosopher (after Voltaire...and Mr. Ed). If he mounts flamingos, then we should all mount flamingos...pink and otherwise! Ipso facto, tutti fruiti, skip to ma Lou! Barbarians! I fart in your general direction! Come back again and I shall stop eating snot off my fingers long enough to taunt you a second time!

#13 - Posted by: Porto-let on June 23, 2006 01:42 PM

of course i´m french, can´t you see by my outrageous accent?

Yeah, ok. OK!!!!
Can we nuke something now?
Please?

#15 - Posted by: HKPistole on June 23, 2006 02:00 PM

I never realized what a monkey face Roger Waters had before.

I could not agree more. Not that Gilmour is the empitomy of conservatism; but I think we both know where the talent in the band lies... and it is not Waters.

#17 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on June 23, 2006 02:14 PM

I believe the “floyd” part comes from a blues singer. Don’t make me google it. I’m not that interested.

#18 - Posted by: Neo-andertal on June 23, 2006 02:14 PM

"PS: ‘Wish You Where Here’ was a far better album by the way." -Neo

Agreed. I was never a fan of The Wall... a bit lame if you ask me. Anyone who listens to Pink Floyd and does not tout Dark Side of the Moon as their best work ever is simply deaf. I encourage anyone who disagrees to please be offended. Please. Face facts people, Pink Floyd is hardly real rock n roll.. it is more like hard jazz.

All that being said; NEVER take what any artist says seriously, even if you agree with their point.

#19 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on June 23, 2006 02:22 PM

I agree that "Dark Side of the Moon" is one of the best works ever by any band, but my personal favorite is "Animals." It's a little edgier and certainly weird, and I've always been oddly attracted to the least popular albums of many bands; eg., my favorite Van Halen album is "Fair Warning." And I ain't deaf, but I do have mild tinitis from too many metal shows.

Gunga--perhaps you just outed MFL, our favorite troll

#20 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on June 23, 2006 02:48 PM

Hehehe... very good point Paleo. I listen to so much music I tend to let things slip by. Animals, yes, is a great album. I haven't listened to that one in a very long time; I will put that on when I get home from work today.

I shutter to wonder what people would think of me if they knew the artists I listen to. My political views could be described as to the right of Ann Coulter; but the artists I listen to could not be more liberal. I will most likely regret this little snippet of honesty.

#21 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on June 23, 2006 03:18 PM

I ain't deaf but I don't hear none too good.

#22 - Posted by: captamerica on June 23, 2006 03:37 PM

To answer the question earlier in the comments...

Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, two blues players, were who the band was named after.

And even though Gilmour is the true talent in the band, don't forget that he was the member of the band trashing the US for not helping enough before the latest Live Aid.

#23 - Posted by: prolix on June 23, 2006 03:39 PM

I have to concur: Animals is my all time favorite Floyd album.

We saw Roger in concert in Tampa in 2000. It was a great concert.

#24 - Posted by: Rachel on June 23, 2006 03:44 PM

Paleo - LOL! Roger Waters has fart stains older than MFL!

Cary - it's probably all that crank you've been cookin' that's got you so messed up -- sorry, bro...couldn't resist.

#25 - Posted by: Gunga on June 23, 2006 03:45 PM

Cary,

I'm in the same boat. Folks say, "hell you must loooooove Ted Nugent." Why, because he's on the same political side as me? I think he's a talentless hack with an ego the size of Guatemala., and he talks too damn much.

I'm happiest when I don't know what an artist thinks.

#26 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on June 23, 2006 03:46 PM

Amen to that Paleo!

That is too funny; I feel the same way about Nugent. 'Stranglehold' is OK; but it is OK like to me like ZZ Top is OK. Meaning they aren't very good.

And Gunga, the crank helps; but not as much as you would think. :)~

#27 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on June 23, 2006 04:21 PM

There is truly a very weird stigma out there that suggests if you listen to Willie Nelson then you must smoke weed like he does. Or if you listen to the Rolling Stones then you must hate "neo cons". I, however, have no doubt that more conservatives cross over in their choice of artists than liberals do. Not near as many liberals listen to country as conservatives that listen to different types of rock. Just my opinion. Aren't they suppose to be the group that is most open minded? How strange!

#28 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on June 23, 2006 04:26 PM

So THAT'S what it looks like on the inside of Mordor!

#29 - Posted by: WeaponGradeCrazy on June 23, 2006 04:27 PM

All in all, it's just another prick at a wall.

#30 - Posted by: 1/2 tsp shredded lemon peel on June 23, 2006 05:24 PM

To clarify: "AT" not "IN."

If he were "in" the wall, the photo would be slightly less sad and pathetic.

#31 - Posted by: on June 23, 2006 05:26 PM

What is it with people getting pissed when they protect their own borders and citizens? They have Palestinians that come inside and blow people up, we have Mexicans that come in and blow our social services, educational, and health care system budgets up. I guess Roger won't be happy until we have another 8 million dead Jews...

#32 - Posted by: Kain on June 23, 2006 05:28 PM

When I was younger and into psychedelic recreational drugs I was way into Floyd. I had almost every album, in vinyl no less! Hard choice but I'd say Animals barely over DsotM. I loved "Pigs on the Wings" On one of their earliest albums there was a song called "Allen's Psychedelic Breakfast" including recordings of Rice Crispy's in milk snaping and crackling and poping and then off into psycholand before returning to the sound of his bowl again. They were OUT THEIR, of course that was the point I think. Still one of my favorite bands. As a word to the wise don't trust the politics of people who don't really work for a living especially ones that made their living being LSD heads.

“NEVER take what any artist says seriously, even if you agree with their point.”

I get your point but I think that is a bit of an blanket overstatement. Someone’s usefulness on a particular subject is a function of their grasp of that subject. Many artists and public figures feel that their notoriety gives them license and that they really don’t have to do their homework and become familiar with something before charging out there and telling everyone what is supposed to be done and how to do it. I might add that many businessmen will run into the same problems.

Another problem is the majority of artists tend to be emotivist, rather than rationalist, in their approach to the world. They act because they feel strongly about something. An emotivist will gather to himself whatever viewpoint and supporting evidence he needs to support his gut feelings. In depth analysis, and opposing viewpoint are not only of little use to the emotivist but present a maddening opposition to what that person feels it right. Unfortunately, emotivism has been much the vogue with artists since the German Romantic Movement of the 19th century.

I might also add that artists in many fields tend to be very tribal and hyper-conformist to the views of the tribe. Many artists that are fellow travelers with the tribe, tend to expect a set of beliefs, values, and actions from their fellow travelers. Actual talent may vary, but you must conform to the group beliefs to belong. Most of you have probably noticed that many of the most publicly nonconformist also tend to be at the same time the most harshly conformist within the tribe. It might also be pointed out that religious cults and criminal gangs often act in the same manor. Not that I'm pooling artists with criminals.

Anyone who listens to Pink Floyd and does not tout Dark Side of the Moon as their best work ever is simply deaf.

That’s my favourite, personally.

Face facts people, Pink Floyd is hardly real rock n roll.. it is more like hard jazz.

I’d have to agree. I like masculine rock, but when I want the gutsy stuff, that’s when I break out Queen.

I'm in the same boat. Folks say, "hell you must loooooove Ted Nugent." Why, because he's on the same political side as me? I think he's a talentless hack with an ego the size of Guatemala., and he talks too damn much.
I'm happiest when I don't know what an artist thinks.

I like to throw them curve balls: “I guess you guys have to hate The Ramones, now!”

I remember this one troll on a forum who asked how we could be conservative and still like music such as John Cougar Mellencamp. Well, after I trashed Johnny boy (not on account of his politics, but because his music just sucks) I explained that I prefer not to let high school drop-outs dictate my opinions to me just because I like their music. (And no, other conservatives don’t dictate my opinions, either. Side benefit of being conservative: you’re allowed to disagree with others on your side) I much prefer thinking for myself, if it’s all the same.

She didn't seem to have and answer to that. *smirk*

It might also be pointed out that religious cults and criminal gangs often act in the same manor. Not that I'm pooling artists with criminals.

A thousand time, UGH…as a member of the rare and endangered species known as rational artists, I could not agree more. It’s de rigeur to live by the adage, “I’m a nonconformist…just like all my friends!”

And Bush is a tenderheated maricón because he does not do the same (a wall) in the south border?

Well, the Mexican government would love to be able to do the same, but they don’t have any illegal aliens to build it on account of killing them on sight.

Hey! Where'd porto de potty go? I was really enjoying that "do as we say, not as we do" attempt at sarcastic morality she was trying to espouse. I'll put it in liberal speak, so she can try to grasp it: You no 'merica citizen, you no be here. You no like la ley? Too bad; you no be here anyway. Comprende, pindejo? Adios!

#39 - Posted by: AlanABQ on June 26, 2006 04:10 AM

Alan, do you know there is a world outside the US? I know you know Canada because it´s up there and Mexico because it´s down there. The gulf countries you must think are around the Mexico Gulf. But there is Yerp all around, and I am an Yerp citizen.

Don't try to out-stupid porto. No mater how creative or cute you get it won’t work. If you try to emulate her and sink to those depths you will just damage your mind.

#41 - Posted by: Neo-andertal on June 26, 2006 10:20 AM

Neo-

I really don't mind. I reply to the genetalia-deficient as a source of amusement. I know that I'm not as smart as the next person, but it's so amusing to goad the trolls to sound off.

Believe me, there's no allure to thier ignorance; I have personal responsibilities. That is a concept so totally lost on libs that, to see how they seethe about the US, it's just truly comedic.

"Alan, do you know there is a world outside the US?"

Yeah, I do! But who cares? If all of the world were nearly as strong as us, I just might take notice. But, sadly, the world outside "Jesus-land" just doesn't have the foresight or testosterone to admit their own idiocy. Or defeat, kinda like the silly little Democrats here.

Keep up the facade, though. Losers always attract & edify their own. You could change your tag to "porto de moore", since his career totally took off after his hype fit. And since he was sooooo right, maybe you could do the talk show cicuit & be wrong at the top of your lungs nationally, too.

Thanks for proving my point though, sis.
