Friday Catblogging
Posted by Laurence Simon at 09:14 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (16)

Since it's Friday, I thought I'd spread the joy of humor-free, apolitical Friday Catblogging to IMAO (aka "I-MEOW").

Sure, some of the IMAO bloggers have cats, but none of them have spent as much time in IMAO Labs working on the balance between blogging and cats... EUREKA! (The litterboxes need changing)

Anyway, it's time for Patriotic Piper:

If you're not sure how this absurd scene pertains to IMAO, since IMAO is famous for that "political humor" thing, it doesn't. If you must have some semblance of politics or humor in everything you read here, just assume that Piper is... um...

Help me out here. Make your suggestions in the comments how this scene is, in fact, a political allegory.

You can find more examples of Friday catblogging by searching a blog search engine such as Technorati for "catblogging."

You can also find a roundup of catblogging posts at The Friday Ark, located at The Modulator blog. Then, when the weekend is nearly over, head over to The Carnival of the Cats for more kitty goodness. There's also a Flikr Group called Furry Friday.

Add to that Weekend Catblogging at Eatstuff.

Anybody I miss?

Let me be the FIRST to say that Piper is saying:

"y'all gonna burn this flag over my dead body be'yotch"

Piper looks as if she is protecting the flag from someone who wants to burn it in protest of some "horrible deed" done by the American government.

Not wanting to hurt the sensitivities of cat lovers. the cat should not be sitting on the flag.

#3 - Posted by: captamerica on June 30, 2006 10:02 AM

Let's see... the Piper, the flag... Now all you need is a couple guys with drums and you have the Spirit of 76 painting.
You know, except with fur.

Try burning my flag and you will draw back a nub!!

#5 - Posted by: on June 30, 2006 10:55 AM

It is a well-established fact that cats only sit on things that are important. (Note to Frank the Aspiring Writer -- this can be used to determine if your golden prose is in fact golden, or ... something else. If a cat won't sit on a page of your story, rewrite. If the cat attempts to "bury" it, delete it from your hard-drive and pretend it never happened.) Plus, cat hairs protect against monsters like bonsai rhinos. That flag will never be molested by any bonsai rhino, and you can take that to the bank! Noble, patriotic Piper!

Piper is obviously waiting for a dirty hippy to show up and try to desegrate the flag. Piper will then spring into action and show the hippy why cat's have claws and big front teeth... Good kitty, Piper!

Cue cricket sounds and awkward silence...........now.

Awesome idea, Send it to the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. People can make their political feelings known by either stepping on the flag, the cat, or both even. Just think, that putting the flag on the floor where people could walk on it was enough to get highest honors. And your art work has a CAT in it. How could they resist.

I'm as patriotic as any other feline so I can live with this since clicking to make larger actually makes a better photo.

#11 - Posted by: DohXs on July 1, 2006 04:14 PM

It is just wrong to have anything sitting on our flag. There is definite flag etiquette! Anything that can lick its own ass is not worthy to be even near our flag! Get a fricking grip!

#12 - Posted by: Phobos on July 1, 2006 11:53 PM

I concur Dafoe. Look at that orifice. No mulch!

#13 - Posted by: on July 2, 2006 12:12 PM

Ok, I'm calling my senator.
Wednesday AM I expect to see a 'Flag- Shedding On' amendment go to the floor for a vote.

#14 - Posted by: ed in texas on July 3, 2006 12:25 PM

I'm with MoMinuteMan on this one.

#15 - Posted by: on July 4, 2006 11:46 PM

Laurence Simon, what an awesome post and photo, man! Are you French?

Take your fucking cat off the flag dipshit. Your attempt at creating an "allegory" is simply insulting.

And take those veggie kebabs off the grill and eat a steak, you pussy.
