If Only It Had Been Eleven Days!
Posted by Frank J. at 01:22 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (16)

I just noticed this when reading a post on Malkin's site about the Seattle shooter:

He bought two handguns, waited 10 days to get them, and picked them up just the day before the shooting, police say.

Wow, that waiting period sure worked out great. So how many days does it take to cool off from Jew-hatred?

BTW, the Malkin post is about how the shooter had supposedly converted to Christianity. There is some evidence that he was not a practicing Christian at the time of the shooting, though. For one, he was shooting random people; this is frowned upon by the teachings of Christianity. Second, he said, "I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel" - not a very common phrase for Christians.

Wow, so now they're trying to pin the blame on us Christians. That takes some intense spinning and "la-la-la, I can't hear you!"ing.

If Islam is the Religion of Peace(TM), what does that make Christianity? In this alternate universe, I guess we are almost as evil as the Joooos(TM)!

He could have tricked them all just by saying, "For the love of God, (and the only God is Allah, peace be upon him) the Jews (what war have they not started) did kill Jesus, that really chafes my Christian (may the streets run red with their blood)hide!"

He was probably an ethnic muslim

It shames me to say that he is a Pakistani. Why it shames me I do not know of which I am speaking. Thank-you. Come again.

I love Texas. We don't have any of this "waiting period" crap.

I can go down to the local gun dealer and within 30 minutes, walk out with a 50 cal, Desert Eagle, or anything else that makes liberals cringe at night.

Hey SilverBubble, the news reports I read said all of his victims were women. Isn't that another Religion of Peace(TM)?

Hawk,
Florida has a waiting period for handguns (three days, I think) but concealed-carry permit holder like me get to skip it.

#7 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 1, 2006 03:17 PM

This story is another great example of why gun laws (all of them) are stupid. And of course, the liberal answer to this situation would be to make the waiting period longer.

I live in KY, carry concealed and can do almost anything (including using deadly force on anyone carrying a can of gasoline on my property) except carry a weapon in church. I got stopped the other day by a smokie and as I handed him my license and concealed carry permit, I told him I was carrying a concealed weapon. His reply was something like "ok, thanks."

Let's see, now. 2,000 X 365 is . . .

Frank,

Good to hear. In Texas, all you do is fill out a simple form, they call it in to the ATF, ATF says "yay" or "nay", and then you go on your merry way to hold up and terrorize the nearest [insert opposing religion] place of worship. If you're CCW, from what I understand, they don't call the ATF.

I'm sure Ted Kennedy would bursts out into random seizures if it was like this in MA, but texas cities have fewer gun and violent crime problems compared to the leading centers for progressive thought (DC, San Fran, Detriot, etc.)

Just imagine how he'd behave if there were a waiting period for the purchase and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

#11 - Posted by: Silicon Valley Jim on August 1, 2006 05:29 PM

Hawk: Detroit is a center for progressive thought? Really? I mean... you really might want to re-write that. If your definition of "progressive" meant "liberal", Detroit's more of an "I'm Democrat because my grandparents were Democrat" than because of any agreement with liberal philosophy. If you meant "progressive" as in "advanced learning" ... that was Detroit you were talking about, right?

Anyway, I live in Seattle now, and I do love freaking out people here by showing them my NRA-stamped "Basic Pistol Training" certificate. :)

Silicon Valley Jim. I think your figure for the number of years is a few thousand short.

#13 - Posted by: FIAR on August 1, 2006 08:15 PM

I love AZ. The too call the ATF and you get the yay or nay that day. CCW holders like myself can make the transaction in under 15 minutes since they've already checked us out. And we too can wax a guy if it looks like he's going to set fire to our houses. Say carrying a gas can and looking a tad deranged. Also, AZ allows justifiable shooting to prevent a sexual crime, I.e. rape... and to kill pedophiles if they mess with kids or you catch them about to molest a child!

We may have McCain and Napolitano, but man do our gun laws ROCK!!!

#14 - Posted by: DesertElephant on August 1, 2006 11:47 PM

By the way... this guy bought two guns? He could have just bought extra magazines. Lazy bastard!

#15 - Posted by: DesertElephant on August 1, 2006 11:49 PM

Gun Nut: I'm a CCW permit holder in KY as well, and I'm pretty sure churches aren't restricted. In fact, I usually carry in church, as I feel like it's one of the more important places to do so these days.

Anyway, I'm proud of KY for allowing us to defend ourselves.
