I think there were a few big things going on other than Mel Gibson and the Democrat Primary in Connecticut. Can anyone remember what they were?

1. Our troops still fight in Iraq and Afhganistan

2. Castro is dying, and doing a piss poor job of it

3. Israel is fighting the Hezbos (thanks, Rush)

4. A Muslim shot up a Jewish Center in Seattle

5. Some folks on the left don't like Michelle Malkin

6. There's more, but I'm trying to eat lunch here.

FrankJ:

Hmmm. There is that whole thing going on in Iraq.

Remember, the war to get rid of all the dangerous WMDs held by a ruthless dictator (oops scratch that), install a stable democratic regime that will spread freedom through the region (oops, looks like we will have to scratch that as well)?
Why are we there again?

Anyway, the following has occurred in Iraq since this February: (From ThinkProgress.org)

- Approximately 300 U.S. troops have died in Iraq
– Approximately 2,530 U.S. troops have been wounded
– Well over 10,000 Iraq civilians have been killed
– Insurgents have conducted an average of 620 attacks per week
– In March there were 7.8 hours of electricity per day in Baghdad (down from 16-24 hours before the war), last month there were 7.6 hours.
– In March there were 133,000 U.S. troops in Iraq. Today there are 132,000 U.S. troops in Iraq and plans to raise that number to 135,000.

Given this, maybe it is time for you to write an editorial on how things are really awesome in Iraq, and how it is just the liberal media who portraying things as bad?

Or have you already written one of those? I didn't check the archives.

Peace,
Monkey Faced Liberal

What's all this we keep hearing about Mel Gibson picking on The Juice? Hasn't OJ had enough trouble looking for his wife's millers? ...and who even cares that Mel Gibson thinks The Juice is responsible for all the sores in the world? That's just stupid! And another thing! I'm sick to death of hearing about this "erection in Connecticut"...

#4 - Posted by: Emily Monkeyface on August 3, 2006 12:50 PM

Oh, and by the way:

According to the latest Gallup Poll 55% of Amercians now want a complete U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq in the next 12 months.

And 54%, now say that the U.S. invasion in 2003 was a "mistake."

Not that the popular view is always right, of course (see presidential election, 2004.)

I just wanted to provide FrankJ with evidence of what a great job the liberal MSM is doing of fooling the American people into thinking things are not hunky dory in Iraq for any upcoming editorials on the subject.

Peace,

Monkey Faced Liberal

People, people, people...if you're going to do a credible monkeyface* impersonation please try to remember to include a reference to a mind-numbingly irrelevant poll and a brief statement showing reverence to evil in all its forms. Is that too much to ask? Being true to his very unique form of Bush-induced-psychosis is the least we can do to preserve his memory.

*May G_d rest his tiny, monkeyfaced soul since Frank sent him out into the cornfield several weeks ago

We had a small earthquake at 8:08 pm yesterday.

The Giants broke their nine-game losing streak yesterday, and their manager, Felipe Alou, is optimistic that Barry Bonds will be back in the lineup soon, although he won't be going on road trips because his liver trips the metal detectors in airports.

MFL-
Unfortunately, it is true that there were WMD in Iraq, and, unfortunately, the liberal media does exist. The only station that I ever saw running this story:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=22645

was Fox News. Saddam Hussein was a maniacal dictator who did commit genocide and who did have WMD and is on trial for it.

And as far as the cost of lives: I know, it's ridiculous that it might cost lives to set people free from a dictatorship. God forbid we sacrifice something to help others.

And as far as pulling out: I know that 55% of America would like to see another Vietnam on our record, but I agree with the President in making sure that they're going to be OK after we leave.

War,

GT

I think there was a serious MSM investigation into the length of Ann Coulter's skirts. BTW - I just conducted a totally impartial poll on the topic. Thirty percent of the male respondents felt that Ann's skirts were just right while the other 70% were hoping/dreaming that they'd get even shorter. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...shorter.

#14 - Posted by: Poll My Finger on August 3, 2006 02:23 PM

Poll,
At what point does a short skirt become just a frilly belt?

#15 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 3, 2006 02:25 PM

MFL - Normally I read your posts thinking, "That silly MFL. He's just so misinformed." But I'm starting to think that you actually believe the idiotic things that you write.

By your standard, the Normandy invasion was also a mistake. 2500 Allied men died in that invasion on one day. That doesn't include the app 12,000 that died in the two months leading to that operation.

We've been in Iraq for 40 months and have fewer casualties than on that one day in 1944. BTW, total Allied casualties for the Normandy invasion were 209,000 approximately.

You also state that there have been 620 terrorist (you call them insurgents) attacks per week. Yet there have only been 323 American combat deaths since Febuary. That works out to roughly 0.02 deaths per attack. We seem to be pretty effective in limiting their ability to kill us. That and the terrorists suck.

Lastly, the President of the United States is supposed to lead, not follow polls. Please pass that on to Bill the next time you take your navy blue dress to the cleaners.

#16 - Posted by: Moneyman on August 3, 2006 02:27 PM

Are talking Texas-style belts or New York-style belts? There are two different standards when it comes to "legitimate belt thickness."

#17 - Posted by: GT on August 3, 2006 02:28 PM

Frank J - I'd have to say, "At just about the right point."

#18 - Posted by: Poll My Finger on August 3, 2006 02:35 PM

And I would have to add, "Not soon enough."

FrankJ, et.al.

To quote Cyrus in the "The Warriors"

"Can you dig it? Can you dig it? Can you dig it?"

The answer is NO for FrankJ's writing.

Despite multiple pleas to "digg" his work on this website (one of which even referenced me, which kinda contradicts FrankJ's whole "don't give the troll any attention" post), FrankJ's "thousands of readers" (hat tip to GT) and other Digg users only managed to give his latest editorial 14 Diggs at Digg.com

I am bit embarrassed by this, since I predicted at least 25 Diggs in 24 hours.

This means FrankJ's writing is even LESS well-liked than I thought.

My bad.

Oh, and by the way, bye all. I am giving you your echo chamber back again for now.

I have gotten my fill, for now, of poor writing, uninformed political thinking, horrible "humor", cliche insults/comebacks and delusions of grander.

Take care, wingnuts. Don't take the Democrat's takeover of the house in the fall too hard.

And FrankJ -- if you don't want to see me again, just try and not write things that display your ignorant, violent adolescent mindset, and I will restrain myself from intruding on your honorable ronin / respected sci-fi writer / popular political humorist fantasy world.

A tough mission to be sure, but I believe you can do it dude!

Peace,

Monkey Faced Liberal

Monkey faced loser,

Was it something we said, or did the arrest of your Co-religionist require you to go into hiding?

#26 - Posted by: Brian the Adequate on August 3, 2006 05:59 PM

Nuts, I mucked up the link. "co-religionist" should have gone to this:

http://www.nbc10.com/news/9621055/detail.html

#27 - Posted by: Brian the (in)Adequate on August 3, 2006 06:02 PM

Now that we have our echo chamber back (Thanks, Monkey Face...we were worried you wouldn't return it), I want to know if the term "wingnut" is an actual insult, or just a feeble attempt? Don't wingnuts, like most hardware fasteners, hold things together? It might really be a subtle compliment- acknowledging our ability to keep it together with or w/out tools.

Again, thank you Monkey Face! I didn't see that, despite the criticism, you were willing to compliment us, too. You cheeky li'l! munky *giggle!*

But I do need to point out that the resounding noise here in our "echo chamber" is coming from you. Didn't you notice that you usually post more comments here than anyone else? And that they're usually long, somewhat monotonous & about the same? I only bring it up because I know you wouldn't like to be thought of as a hypocrite...

God bless!

#28 - Posted by: Wingnut on August 3, 2006 06:26 PM

I don't know. I think I'll miss MFL if he actually does what he promises (we all know how that goes on the left).

A day without MFL is like:
a day with plenty of sunshine
white raspberry cheesecake from Cheese Cake Factory
a day off of work
a day at the beach, in the mountains, at a amusement park or anywhere that makes you really happy
a great movie, play, book, CD
More?

#31 - Posted by: Lemur faced Hippie on August 4, 2006 12:03 AM

does mfl honestly think that we didnt find WMDs in iraq? granted some where kinda old however does that make them anyless dangerous i know they where at a sever state of deterioration, however that wasn't the point. The point is "would you really feel safe with those in your kitchen?" lol no the point is that iraq had produced WMDs and intended to use them against someone i believe they were origionally intended for use during the iran iraq war so ya plus ppl who commit mass genocide aren't ppl that deserve a seat in power much less a dictatorial position.

Monkey faced idiot please go spout ur pompus bulls*** somewhere else where people are more easily influenced by lefties like you heres a link to a site you and your uber left ideology might enjoy

I want him to stay. For all his posturing & "fact" finding, he's still a decent sport about the back & forth banter. And considering all of the negative hit & run trash talking other trolls do, he is at least consistent...

Plus, he's really the only peacenik we have a dialogue with who refrains from below-the-belt attacks (most of the time).

#33 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 4, 2006 03:25 AM

Alan-

I agree with you, that's why I thought it would be good to have him stay.

I have been banned from too many of the lefty / wacko-lib / progressive blogs, who really are an echo chamber of bile-spewing crazies. They don't want to hear any dissent in the ranks and are quick to pull the trigger if you get too far out of line (firedoglake comes to mind).

#34 - Posted by: Gun Nut on August 4, 2006 03:52 AM

WOW you guys got the mfl critter but good, so much so it took the French solution and skidaddled and with hardly so much as a whimper. (enthusiastic applause!!)

Plus you guys gave me a bunch of good material to use on the lefties I am bombarded by in my blue state area. Amazing thanks!!

#35 - Posted by: shimauma on August 4, 2006 08:56 AM

I don't know what much else is going on in the world, but I'm pretty sure that whatever it is, anti-Semitism is involved in some way.

#36 - Posted by: ZK on August 4, 2006 12:02 PM

MFL you ignorant slut. Are you rooting for the Islamofascists to beat us so that you can be the first to pull down your skirt and take it in the rear from a turbaned terrorist? Not that there is anything wrong with that, I mean, if you are a pickle smoker. If the majority of democrats were like you during WW2 we'd be eating saur kraut on Thanksgiving. And you are a doo doo head.

#37 - Posted by: captamerica on August 4, 2006 01:22 PM

I have to agree with MFL, you falacy mongers. If you knew what you are talking about. We are watching the final blows of the biggest crime against humanity ever seen and started in the end of WWI. If you would care to read the History of Palestine or Philastine, all time residence of the Filistees, true descendants of the Hebrews of David and Solomon your puny minds would explode so don´t go near any library and avoid googling or wiking it. The real problem was, is and will be Palestine and Palestinians robbed and expelled of their land by the German, Soviet and Polish Zionistis financed by their banking-media-pharma-oil-weapon-drug bethren since the 19th century. Number of Palestinian Jews in 1922: around 80.000.Well, I think I better leave you as well...

Sorry, I woke up. That bitter cabbage thing woud be true if the nazi´s hadn´t been duped by my master.

#40 - Posted by: captamerica on August 4, 2006 02:50 PM

Wow silly portograal you wicked anti-Semite. I pray that God doesn't strike you in his holy wrath for beleiving such lies. The Bible, the true history of the nation of Israel from its conception, tells the story of the nation of Israel and how they invaded and took hold of the land that is now the nation of Israel, and that one of the groups of people they conquered were called the Philistines. David and Solomon weren't Philistines! The classic relation of David and Goliath was about Israel's defending its land from the Philistine invasion.

Saying that Palestine has a right to that land is like saying that the Native Americans have a right to launch bombs from Canada into the US and say that they won't stop until they get all their land back.

War,

GT

#41 - Posted by: GT on August 4, 2006 03:23 PM

Well, at least we still have porto...

Yesterday, I wrote; "...considering all of the negative hit & run trash talking other trolls do..."

Yeah, porto, just like that.

#42 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 4, 2006 03:49 PM

GT
Ok, but some things have happened since the time the Old Testament was written.
I am calling Filastin to the people who always lived there. They also descend from those primitive filistees but there has been miscegenation during this last 3000 years with all the invaders, not just hebrews.
Number of Palestinian Jews in 1922: around 80.000
Cannot be anti-semitic as both arab and jews are semitic people.
Read some man. The Zionists were much more conspicuous before WWII.

#43 - Posted by: portograal on August 4, 2006 05:00 PM

MFL, I enjoy your jibes. As someone who prides himself on not taking himself too seriously, most of your spots catch me when I am unsuspecting. I appreciate that. I also appreciate someone who gives me a good logical argument other than to simply suggest that this old vet is a "Chickenhawk".

#44 - Posted by: Writer on August 4, 2006 05:01 PM

Porto-

What are you talking about? Your posts are very incoherent so please state your point wihtout the random little factoids thrown in. I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that you think there was some sort of evil Zionist conspiracy (a term I think the Muslims coined) to steal land and give it to Israel, and that the motives were fueled by some sort of evil German Polish Soviet banking yadayadayada.

The fact is, Abraham, the father of Israel, as they call him, had two sons. Ishmael was his illegitimate son from whom spawned the peoples that popultated Canaan when the nation of Israel returned to the land after being held in captivity in Egypt.

And please don't play word games. Everyone knows that since the late 19th century the term "Anit-Semite" has meant "Anit-Jew." To truly be "Anit-Semitic" would be to be against any languages with origins in the Middle-East.

War,

GT

#45 - Posted by: GT on August 4, 2006 05:38 PM

GT-

"Everyone knows that since the late 19th century the term "Anit-Semite" has meant "Anit-Jew." To truly be "Anit-Semitic" would be to be against any languages with origins in the Middle-East."

Now there's an excellent point right there. I'm glad you pointed that out to clarify it. The whole idea that the term "Anti-Semite", as it is used today, is projected at anyone but Jewish peoples is not only ignorant, but it is also another attempted tactic to obscure the context in which it is employed. It's the verbal equivalant of "gerrymandering".

Come on now, porto. Who are you trying to kid?

#46 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 4, 2006 05:59 PM

Frank J. et al.

I have no life. So I'm going to spend my spare time watching "The Warriors" and posting messages on blogs to start fights with a blogger who makes fun of my politics.

You may think this is lame.

But since I have no serious job, I can do this sort of thing in the middle of the day on a weekday-in fact, it's the best use of my time.

However, I want you people to pay attention to me. I hate the fact that Frank isn't paying attention to me.

So, I'm packing up to go to another blog.

Peace, yo

P.S. I'm cool. The fact that you make twice the amount of money I make, can get a decent girlfriend, and actually have discernable future is something I'm not at all bitter about. But if you ever talk about the times you picked on me in high school, I'm gonna get you! One day, you'll be sorry, everybody will be sorry!
