A Kiss to build a dream on
Apparently, Kiss fans take their fandom way too seriously: About 200 Kiss fans protested in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to demand that the band be inducted into the hall. If the selection committee caves in to this strong-arm tactic from militant groups like the Kiss Army, it's only a matter of time before The Al Jarreau Martyrs Brigade and the Yusuf Islam Jihad threaten their own terrorist actions against the museum. Besides, what has Kiss really given to the world of Rock And Roll besides ludicrous makeup? You don't see Tammy Faye Bakker Messner being inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame, do you? 9 Responses To "A Kiss to build a dream on"
They weren't wearing make-up. That's what happens to you when you spend too much time on the waterfront in Cleveland. #1 - Posted by: Gunga on August 7, 2006 01:20 PMThey should be inducted. KISS fans have every right to protest. Frankly, if they ever do get inducted, they should shoot em' the rod just like the Sex Pistols did. All in the spirit of Rock N Roll of course. #3 - Posted by: Cary from Houston on August 7, 2006 02:12 PMI'd be careful about making fun of them. Back in their heyday the Kiss Army outnumbered the US Army. Of course, they had hard drugs instead of heavy artillery, but you really don't want a bunch of elderly drug addicts throwing up all over your blog. #4 - Posted by: Veeshir on August 7, 2006 02:16 PMI was a huge Kiss fan in my youth. I bought their records and painted my face. It didn't take long for my attention to shift to bands that lacked the makeup but had something vital...talent. Arguments about Ace Frehley aside, Kiss was a talentless circus act. Period. While I could accept that their impact on pop culture warrants possible entry into the HOF, I would categorically deny that their crappy music had anything to do with it. #5 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on August 7, 2006 02:33 PMMaybe CNN is confused. That picture in the article looks more like a Pale Suburban Soccer Moms protest. They're probably waiting outside to pick up their kids from a field trip. #6 - Posted by: El Santo on August 7, 2006 04:14 PMIt would be better if Joshua Belile, who sang Hadji Girl, were inducted before Kiss #7 - Posted by: Phobos on August 7, 2006 10:33 PMWho said "Talent" had anything to do with Rock and Roll? That band did more with next to no radio air play than any band in the 70s and 80s. They belong there. #8 - Posted by: LongTabSigO on August 7, 2006 10:39 PMIf they want to press their case, they ought to make Chaim Witz their legal rep. After all, he is a cunning linguist... over 4,600 master debates. #9 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 8, 2006 04:41 AMPost a comment
