Someone Tell Me Who to Vote For
Posted by Frank J. at 08:44 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (33)

I don't watch local news, and now I realize the Florida primary is coming up and I know pretty much nothing about the candidates. There is going to be a competitive race for both the governor (I'm gonna miss Jeb) and for Senate (as long as Kathleen Harris doesn't win the primary; she was treated horribly unfairly in 2000 and now she has a seat in Congress... but that doesn't mean she deserves a suicidal run for the Senate when we have a good chance of taking down the incumbent), so I need a way to figure what candidates to vote for. Where the best place to get concise information on local candidates, and does any fellow Floridians have opinion on the candidates involved?

My Congressman is Republican Dave Weldon, BTW, and there won't even be a real race in his case.

Rating: 4.0/5 (1 vote cast)

If you figure it out, let me know (at the state level). I'm in the same boat too.

Vote Cthulhu - Why settle for the LESSER of the evils.

#2 - Posted by: Brian the Adequate on August 21, 2006 09:33 AM

You should not vote for most Republicans

Senator Hagel says Iran has more power and influence in Iraq than we do. Bush empowered Iran with the Iraq War. How sucky is that? Why do you idiots continue to support this administration? The Bush administration is incapable of leadership. They are just sell outs to the multinational corporations. All they do is try to make us afraid of things like water bottles. But we will not be afraid of water bottles! We will stand up against them and vote them away!! We will not cower in the face of ludicrous threats! We will bring our water bottles on the plane!!! HOORAY!!!!

P.S. Those of you who actually want to get rid of airplane ride conveniences like liquids and gels because you are terrified of the stupid terrorists are some of the biggest fucking cowards this world has ever seen. That's like just standing there and letting the terrorists punch you in your dumb monkey faces. You have to stand up for yourselves and stop being such cowards. Denounce the nonsense and the non-terrorist-killing Bush administration. Call them out for being the phonies they are.

All in all I think my advice was better than the trolls.

#4 - Posted by: Brian the Adequate on August 21, 2006 10:17 AM

Try contacting your local Republican Executive Committee for info on the Republicans. If you know people on this committee they can share their personal opinions, too. Also some local Republican clubs might have people who'd talk to you or give you info.

Your local paper should also have an editorial on who they recommend. Check out what the St. Pete Times had. I do not agree with all their choices but it's a place to start getting info.

The hardest ones for me are the judges.

#5 - Posted by: vilmar on August 21, 2006 10:21 AM

Join the club Frank. I try to find the candidates web sites to get some idea of where they stand. Of course I automatically ignore any demomoron. The judges are the most frustrating and I think are critically important. Go to the state RNC web site and see what is there. That's what I am going to do. BTW, bushgavepowertoiran, you ignorant slut, Jimmy Carter gave power to Iran by being an impotent, scared pussy. Ya follow?

#6 - Posted by: captamerica on August 21, 2006 10:51 AM

Refer to the morning breifing from the one called Rove, silly.

#7 - Posted by: spacemonkey on August 21, 2006 10:55 AM

As unpalatable as some of your choices might be, Democrats are the party of "Trolls." Just remember Babs, MFL and the rest them, are the poster-children for the Liberal Wing for the Dem. party.
Do you really want these kind of people in charge of your state, and country? They can't utter a sentence coherently without resorting to hyperbole, lies and crass comments.
Just imagine the how the world would view Florida and by extension the US with someone who talks and thinks like Babs, representing them.
I guess people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Letterman and Leno wouldn't be terribly disappointed- they'd have material for the next four years and wouldn't have to work so hard, but still.

#8 - Posted by: seanmahair on August 21, 2006 11:37 AM

Senator Hagel says Iran has more power and influence in Iraq than we do. Bush empowered Iran with the Iraq War.

Since when is Senator Hagel right about anything?

Why do you idiots continue to support this administration?

Well you see, we are opposed to terrorists being alive.

The Bush administration is incapable of leadership. They are just sell outs to the multinational corporations.

And the military-industrial complex too, I'm sure.

All they do is try to make us afraid of things like water bottles.

You're clearly a pawn of the Zionist water bottle conspiracy.

But we will not be afraid of water bottles! We will stand up against them and vote them away!! We will not cower in the face of ludicrous threats! We will bring our water bottles on the plane!!! HOORAY!!!!

Have fun in jail.

P.S. Those of you who actually want to get rid of airplane ride conveniences like liquids and gels because you are terrified of the stupid terrorists are some of the biggest fucking cowards this world has ever seen.

I know what you mean. How cowardly of us to be so afraid of terrorists who want to blow us up.

That's like just standing there and letting the terrorists punch you in your dumb monkey faces. You have to stand up for yourselves and stop being such cowards. Denounce the nonsense and the non-terrorist-killing Bush administration. Call them out for being the phonies they are.

I think "non-terrorist-killing Bush administration" speaks for itself.

SkyeChild,
That's the dumbest comment ever. I think I might ban you.

#13 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 21, 2006 12:21 PM

Frank,
Gallagher and Christ are both pretty moderate republicans. Gallagher seems to be the most gun friendly of the two and also seems more family oriented. I belong to the Brevard Young Republicans and the most of the people in there seem to support Gallagher as well.

We don't punch terrorists, we punch French people and liberals like you. You are right, we should stand up for ourselves. Come here and I'll start with you.

#15 - Posted by: Moneyman on August 21, 2006 12:59 PM

Frank - My advice is to find a website like this and find a candidate that's most willing to punch libs and kill terrorists. Don't take anyone's word (especially spacemonkey's) for it, find out who you like for yourself.

Good luck.

#16 - Posted by: Moneyman on August 21, 2006 01:10 PM

Moneyman, you stupid fucking coward. You are probably afraid your own shadow will punch you in your stupid monkeyface. The Bush administration claims we are safer and yet here we are continually removing conveniences because they say the terrorists will attack us. When are idiots like you going to be brave enough to just get on with our lives and stop being afraid? The liquid ban is just a ruse to make you feel safe -- the govt does nothing about port security, immigrations and all sorts of other threats so you aren't really safe anyway. So what's the point of banning liquids if it isn't even about safety. It's just a maneuver to make dumb fucking wimps like you feel safe you stupid fucking coward wimphead.

ScaredmonkeyfaceSamurai, what has Bush down about the massive immigration problem? Nothing. He is just a lying corporate tool who cares nothing about security or protecting us from terrorists or our country from illegal immigrants. If this guy was really doing his job why is Bin Laden still alive? If Bush was really doing his job then why did millions of illegal immigrants come into the US over the last five years?

We need to get these lying corporate tools out of office. The only way to do that is to vote the scum that support them out of office. If you can find some moderates that do that instead of the far lefties so much the better.

#17 - Posted by: BushGavePowertoIran on August 21, 2006 01:16 PM

BGPTI - Despite your creative use of your limited vocabulary and literary dwarfism, I think I understand your projection of your own inadequacies onto others. It's okay. I'll use small words that you can understand..."Here pussy, pussy, pussy...I ain't skeered.

#18 - Posted by: Moneyman on August 21, 2006 01:27 PM

I find that listening to the trolls and then voting the opposite usually works best for everyone.

#19 - Posted by: Writer on August 21, 2006 01:29 PM

I think Skyechild is on to something.

Also, I think BushGavePowertoIran is ON something.

#20 - Posted by: spacemonkey on August 21, 2006 01:37 PM

Frank,
I am in the Brevard county young republicans, I support Gallagher for Governor. Both candidates have a moderate voting record in the past, but Tom Gallagher has moved way to the right in the recent years since he got married and had a kid and has been promising to uphold the conservative values. Tom Gallagher is a Veteran, Charlie is trial lawyer. Charlie Crist has gotten on the radio recently in miami and has said he suported gay marriage, gay adoption, etc.
Charlie Crist also doesnt own a home, rents a condo, is unmarried (which isnt a bad thing these days) BUT he used to be roomates with congressman Mark Foley when they were in the state house. Not to disparage anyone but Mark Foley is openly gay. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to make the same connection as me. OUR congressman Dave Weldon has endorsed Tom Gallagher along with rep. Needelman. On the flip side haridopolos has endorsed Crist. Depending on which way your door swings the choice is pretty clear.

#21 - Posted by: Republicn1 on August 21, 2006 01:40 PM

sburch and Republicn1,
Thanks for the advice. Know anything about the Senate candidates, though?

#22 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 21, 2006 01:44 PM

Frank J,

I noticed you didn't thank me for my advice (how rude!) but here is some more anyway. Do not vote for anyone that endorses the Bush administration. George Bush has not even captured the #1 terrorist. How pathetic and incompetent is that? Probably the biggest man hunt in history for an extremely tall arab male and Bush can't get the job done. He totally failed. The Bush administration sucks at killing terrorists. Plus he continues to say how much "safer" we are and yet claims the terrorists just about pulled off another terrorist attack. Plus, how can we be "safer" when airport security has to be tighter now than last year or the year before? That isn't logical therefore it is another Bush lie. Plus, Bush has let millions of illegal aliens pour into our country. You just can't get much more pathetic than that. And Bush freed all the shias in S Iraq and now they are sympathizing with the Hezbollah terrorists group and Iran instead of the USA. These are the people Bush said wanted freedom. They don't want freedom they want terrorism and Iranism. Bush lied. He is a liar. He doesn't give a shit about any of you. He only cares about big corporations like banks. He only watches TV shows about who can and cannot dance. Bush want the illegal immigrants to pour in so banks can give them credit cards. Bush wants your beanie babies to complete his collection. Everything Bush does is for big business and big government -- nothing is for security and fiscal responsibility. He is wasting all your tax dollars on bullshit. He is just a big phony coward who is full of lies and you are all enormous, shiny ass clowns for falling for it. Wake up IMAO before the USA is a second world country.

#24 - Posted by: kalthalior on August 21, 2006 02:36 PM

BGPTI,
Well, your advice on who to vote for in a Republican primary was to not vote for Republicans. I don't want to be critical, but that wasn't very helpful.

#25 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 21, 2006 02:43 PM

As far as senate candidates, we have 4 republicans in primary. Kathrine harris is going to win hands down, but she cannot beat Bill Nelson beacuse she is too polarizing and has some baggage of her own. The one who will come in second is will mcbride from orlando, but he will be lucky to get double digits in the polls. So basicly I consider the senate a loss for us REPS. I am probably going to vote for mcbride, but who says voting should be like the lottery, we are not trying to pick the winners.
I am focusing my energy on the governor. florida would suck if we had a log cabin governor.

#26 - Posted by: Republicn1 on August 21, 2006 02:49 PM

Republicn1,
Who is voting for Harris! Idiots!

#27 - Posted by: Frank J. on August 21, 2006 02:51 PM

Frank, sorry for not being helpful.

I'm not saying people have to vote for far lefties just people that at least disagree with some of the crap the administration has pulled. Some republicans out there should hopefuly be fine. There are lots of Republicans that disagree with the Bush administration.

Someone who wants to kill the terrorists, protect the borders, shrink the size of the government and be fiscally conservative. The Bush admin has done the opposite of these things which is why I think they suck.

I have to go now. I like your arrogant opinion blog.

Everyone wave goodbye to the departing troll :-)

#28 - Posted by: BGPTI on August 21, 2006 02:54 PM

i swear man, the republican executive comittee chairman here has endorsed crist and harris like sheep they are following the crowd off the cliff. i know the guy personally he said "katharine is a nice person.... chalrie said he is not gay..." yeah and bill clinton didnt inhale. these people are SHEEP. we need to wake our own party up before we start shocking the testicles of the libs.

#29 - Posted by: Republicn1 on August 21, 2006 03:50 PM

Moneyman, you stupid fucking coward. You are probably afraid your own shadow will punch you in your stupid monkeyface.

Yeah, yeah. Everyone’s a tough guy on the internet.

I dare you to be less coherent.

I don’t know. Ask your friends in the Open-Borders lobby.

Do not vote for anyone that endorses the Bush administration. George Bush has not even captured the #1 terrorist. How pathetic and incompetent is that?

Dude, I know. He should’ve done a HALO drop into the Middle East with a rocket launcher, a 9mm, a P90, and a knife clenched in his teeth and captured Bin Laden himself.

Probably the biggest man hunt in history for an extremely tall arab male and Bush can't get the job done.

Well maybe you hadn’t noticed but the Middle East is a rather large-ish place.

The Bush administration sucks at killing terrorists. Plus he continues to say how much "safer" we are and yet claims the terrorists just about pulled off another terrorist attack.

What? What the Hell are you talking about?

Plus, how can we be "safer" when airport security has to be tighter now than last year or the year before? That isn't logical therefore it is another Bush lie.

Since you don’t actually know what logic is, I’ll discount that statement.

Bush wants your beanie babies to complete his collection.

O...kay...

Everything Bush does is for big business and big government -- nothing is for security and fiscal responsibility. He is wasting all your tax dollars on bullshit. He is just a big phony coward who is full of lies and you are all enormous, shiny ass clowns for falling for it.

You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with asses.

That's mighty brave of you to stand up against water bottles. Keep fighting thet good fight.

I'm a conservative...and am in the same boat! Don't care anymore about any of these creeps! Don't watch the news...hate all of these retards in Congress... I guess when it's time to vote I will try to pick the person that wants to fight with the pricks that are trying to kill us, not the person that wants to understand their "feelings"...
