Those Wiki-Weenies...
Posted by Frank J. at 02:26 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (12)

Uncle Jimbo of Blackfive is trying to get a Wikipedia entry, but it's up for deletion, of course. A lot of the weenies there seem to just not like bloggers. Even if someone is a newsmaker, they seem to put a larger standard to prove if someone is Wiki-worthy if that person is best known for blogging. I guess they're afraid if they allow more entries on bloggers, soon every blogger will get an entry and leave little room for articles about the supporting characters in NES videogames.

The way Wikipedia is heading, it's a great place for information on anime and 80's cartoons, but if you want information on current newsmakers, you should look elsewhere.

For your Sunday reading pleasure, here's a very detailed entry on Bumblebee from the Transformers.

'tards.

UPDATE:

I got yelled at on Wikipedia for calling one of the people there "retarded". I guess I'm only supposed to allude to someone being retarded to keep deocorum.

Should have known these types would be overly-sensitive...

I think bloggers should be given higher importance in Wikipedia. They have an influence that is eclipsing even traditional media figures. Who forms an opionion because Bill Hemmer - youthfulness and good looks aside - said or did something? On the other hand, people follow blogs and bloggers with an almost religious intensity. Shame, no, that Bill Hemmer, then, would have an entry but not Uncle Jimbo?

I used to be quite active with Wikipedia, but now only stick to adding the Arabic, Urdu, or Hindi words for entries (where entries discuss something from Arabic, Urdu, or Hindi, of course). Anything else and it becomes a chore what with the egos and agendas there.

They have an article on Bumblebee because he's more than meets the eye.

(Sorry...couldn't resist.)

Thanks for throwin' in Frank, I saw that you and the Monkey stood up for me. I figger I gave them an honest chance and if they piss on my head, I will return the favor.

Cordially,

Uncle J

I hope Uncle Jimbo does better than I did. Best of luck.

I got yelled at on Wikipedia for calling one of the people there "retarded".

Well, of course, you did, Frank; it's not "retarded", it's "developmentally disabled", unless, of course, there's some new politically-correct term this year.

'Savanticide'

Just because they are retards does not mean that they are retarded.

I spewed coke when I read that one Frank.

I put up an entry a while back regarding my web site. Those bozo's decided to delete it because it wasn't "leet".
(Page rank was low among other things)

Wikipedia was meant to be a place for people to find any type of information available. It has devolved into yet another trendy toy for undersexed teenage boys to play with.

Go Frank! Annoying the world's weenies one retard at a time!

(Insert standard disclaimers.)

#9 - Posted by: Muslihoon on October 9, 2006 08:57 PM

As George Washington said during his Bi-Centential address in Athens, Italy in 1979, "Where do you get off calling me a 'tard' you homo!"

How sad is it that Uncle Jimbo CARES what the wiki-dolts think of his "worthiness" to be a part of their surreality? Revenge of the Nerds comes to mind...

#11 - Posted by: Gunga on October 10, 2006 01:06 PM

It made me sad....I got yelled at too....THEY SAID MY ARTICLE SUCKED. *cries*
