Thought of the Day
I wish I were a misanthrope and hated people because then life would be so much easier. If I heard of some big problem in the world, I'd just say, "Well, that only affects people, and I don't like them." Instead, I care about people, so when something goes wrong that affects people, I exclaim, "Oh no! Not people! I like them!" And, basically, that's most of my day. 12 Responses To "Thought of the Day"
But what if something happens in the world that affects only misanthropes -- is that a happy thing even though misanthropes are also people? Or, what if something bad that is supposed to happen to a certain very bad person who did a very bad thing never happens and continues to never happen years and years after an important somebody specifically promised it would? Do we just let The Promiser off the hook and never complain that the something bad that was supposed to happen to this very bad person never did? And what if something bad starts happening to someones traffic -- shouldn't we all help out and post more and comment more to help bring the traffic back up? Shouldn't spacemonkey stop being so incredibly lazy and post more often? Shouldn't you fire him for a blogger that posts more frequently? C'mon IMAO users. Post something. Tell me I'm a liberal freak. Let's get IMAO's traffic back up! #1 - Posted by: Sarcasm Man on January 23, 2007 11:10 AMLife is much easier as a semi-misanthrope, i.e. you only hate certain groups of people. Groups like, school employees who are so stuck on their "zero tolerance" policies that they can't let a kid carry his asthma inhaler. #2 - Posted by: Wacky Hermit on January 23, 2007 11:10 AMOr people who call themselves "Sarcasm Man" in an effort to confuse people with Asperger's Syndrome. Mean, mean! #3 - Posted by: Wacky Hermit on January 23, 2007 11:11 AM"Shouldn't spacemonkey stop being so incredibly lazy and post more often?" Maybe he should. But not because you said so. "Shouldn't you fire him for a blogger that posts more frequently?" No, Frank shouldn't. That would hurt my feelings. #4 - Posted by: spacemonkey on January 23, 2007 12:23 PMIt's unfair to misdiagnose SM's affliction. Turret's syndrome seems more likely. #5 - Posted by: AlanABQ on January 23, 2007 01:25 PMI don't like people very much. I just want to be President. The microphone was on? #6 - Posted by: Hillary Rodham, er, Clinton on January 23, 2007 01:49 PMI'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty! I don't like my wife...I just married her because she's a walking ATM machine... #7 - Posted by: John Kerry on January 23, 2007 04:16 PMI would feel bad if something happened to my box of Soylent Green, because Soylent Green is people. #8 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on January 23, 2007 04:35 PMAs you can see, Sarcasm Man is masterbating while reading IMAO again. Can a webcam stab itself in the eye? #9 - Posted by: Sarcasm cam on January 23, 2007 08:32 PMBah, Frank should keep spacemonkey and bring on board more bloggers. As for Sarcasm Man, people, please see him for the great gift he is! Frank is dying for a good Limey here! When one shows up, the least you can do is give him the proper encouragement! I'm tempted to accuse Sarcasm Man of being Frank just for the fun of it. Sarcasm Man -- Frank may have to watch the news as a part of keeping his blog running, but you don't. The trouble with misanthropy as a solution to Frank's dilemma is that when you start hating people, making a personal exception gets tougher and tougher. So turn off the news, get a dog, go outside, and have fun, and bring some friends so that you can get used to seeing good things happen to people you like. Then worrying about how we deal with vicious dictators (defined however you like) won't be as much of a concern. You don't have to stay up at night pondering the wheels within wheels about Ezekiel's "God does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked." You may even be able to forgive the promise-breaker and reforge your relationship with him or her -- after he or she leaves public office, of course. ;) Frank, you have any plans to read the Bible again? Ezekiel would really be cool. Lastly, Sarcasm Man, while I am neither encouraging nor condoning this type of behavior, you have not yet even come close to unleashing liberal freakiness. You are dangerously like the thinker type, the one who takes life too seriously. #10 - Posted by: Capitalist_B on January 23, 2007 08:50 PMMisanthrope – Did ya’ learn a new word today SAC man? Of course we’re a bunch of misanthrope’s. A conspiracy of misanthropes that is. We’re banding together to form misanthropic organizations to take money from the poor give it to the rich, spread illiteracy, racism and violence, help ‘the man’ keep the people down, spread diseases, make babies cry, kick dogs, help George kill people, etc, etc… And give Hugo Chavez a big kiss for us. You're absolutely right Frank, it is easier being a misanthrope. Post a comment
