"Get Them a Body Bag! Yeah!"
Posted by Frank J. at 09:14 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (15)

I didn't watch the State of the Union last night. The White House made the mistake of e-mailing me the outline ahead of time. When I saw bullet points for health care and global warming but nothing about making our enemies suffer - the only thing I care about. I decided to instead watch the CSI: Miami we had on our Tivo (didn't have enough time to watch it Monday night since there was also 24 and Heroes). At least with CSI: Miami I got some red meat with an anti-Castro message.

Like every President Bush speech I don't bother to watch, it ended up getting pretty good reviews. Still, talk isn't going to help very much at this point. I actually want to see our enemy crying for mercy in front of the President and then see Bush spit on them before kicking them in the face. Then I'll know he's not just serious about taking on terrorism, he's also going to sweep the leg. No mercy!

I'm praying the surge goes well and there's the proper follow through. We're America, and we only ever lose wars if we decide to give up... which we never ever should.

So, for those who saw the speech, what did you think? Or were you distracted so much with Pelosi staring at you that you didn't hear anything?

I was just listening and playing on my computer during the speech so I didn't watch all that long and I turned if off when he spoke about blogal warming.

When I did look over I loved the look on Cheney's face. I mean, it seemed actually painful for him to pretend to smile for an hour.

I'm gonna miss him. He and Rumsfeld are from another time and I don't think they're making them like that anymore. Now, boys are threatened with Ritulin or Focusyn when they start to act like boys.

Love the Karate Kid references. Not nearly enough of those out there these days.

The high point of the speech for me was to actually hear an admission that the enemy is the jihad ideology and actually call out Sunni and Shia extremists.

The low point, pretty much everything else. Although if the whole health care wierdness was really an across the board tax cut in disguise it would be cool, but I am far to cynical to believe that when I can't understand what an elected official is proposing it means that the best possible interpretation is the accurate one.

Best shot of the Fox News coverage, reaction shot of Sen Joe Biden where the camera shot to him just as he finished rubbing and/or picking his nose.

I couldn't concentrate with all her BLINKING! What is up wit dat?

#4 - Posted by: Punk Princess on January 24, 2007 10:43 AM

Research showed that blink rate can be a sign of depression - the faster the blink, the more depression.

Or it could just be that she is freaking out like a bunny in the headlights over the bright lights, allergies, botox nerve damage, or has makeup in her eyes.

I think it was depression at her having to hear Bush talk. Normally the Dems live in a info bubble of their own design.

I didn't watch...I figured it would be more of the same and from what I hear today it was...sigh...

#6 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on January 24, 2007 11:54 AM

I watched it...only because it was in HD and I likes me my new HDTV. My wife kept asking what did Nancy Pelosi kill to make that outfit.

I thought it was a damn good speech, maybe the best he's ever given. Of course, that might be because they followed it up with Jim Webb's impression of Disney's Hall of Presidents.
But really, he made a great case for his Iraq plan...or at least for having an Iraq plan rather than just leaving. (haha, the Dems stood for broad concepts, but they refused to stand when he advocating winning the war....a little revealing, no?) He put forth some stuff like the healthcare thing that should win him some goodwill from moderates, etc.
I'll be surprised if his polls don't go up (besides, where can they go but up?).

I watched my tivo'd episoids of 'Dead Like Me' instead.

Poor Nancy-bot. I still think the little motors that allow her to mimic human facial expressions were going haywire.

I started to read the copy of Webb's whiny "this is a picture of my daddy...*sniffle*..." speech, and I have to say: What a friggin' rube. He really tried to make a bold rebuttal, but it fell just to the left of Socialist blathering;

//But these benefits are not being fairly shared. When I graduated from college, the average corporate CEO made 20 times what the average worker did; today, it's nearly 400 times. In other words, it takes the average worker more than a year to make the money that his or her boss makes in one day.//

You go, proletariat warrior!

BTW, how much does he make a year, as opposed to the average income of his middle and lower-class constituents?

I liked Jim Webb's suggestion that we shouldn't withdraw precipitously, but we should get US forces off the streets of Baghdad and headed home as soon as possible.

Hey Jimbo - by that logic, your father's heroic Berlin Airlift experience would have consisted of thousands of sorties in empty planes doing touch-and-gos...

I missed the speech, was it in English?
Or Espanol?

#12 - Posted by: spacemonkey on January 24, 2007 03:05 PM

That was Jim Webb? I thought that they had dug up and reanimated Upton Sinclair's corpse. I guess they ran out of reanimation juice when they overdosed Granny Pelosi.

#13 - Posted by: Master Shake on January 24, 2007 03:33 PM

I think I missed something-

Webb mentioned something about Eisenhower ending the Korean War. Since the democrats seem to equate ending the war in Iraq with pulling our troops out, does that mean we don't have any troops in South Korea?
When did that happen?

#14 - Posted by: Bob in Feenicks on January 24, 2007 04:54 PM

Doesn't Webb usually put his penis in a small boy's mouth or something...
