Going Further Than Simply Not Supporting the Troops
Posted by Frank J. at 11:31 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (12)

I haven't said anything about that post by William Arkin of the Washington Post where he basically calls the military a bunch of ungrateful mercenaries (as I've said before, if you're not a chickenhawk, then they'll find some other way to dismiss your opinion). I wasn't sure what to say because the post and his follow up is so over the top it's like a piece of performance art.

Anyway, Matt of Blackfive was on FOX News with John Gibson talking about Arkin. He was a last minute replacement for Michelle Malkin and thus has already received numerous ethnic slurs.

The one thing Willie Arkin needs is a quick trip to Iraq so he can tell the troops there in the northern part of the country what a bunch of amenities-grubbing mercs they are.

It would be a cost-effective trip too, since there'd be no need for round trip ticket.

William Arkin was invited to address my local VFW. We sent him directions to the Big Oak, and informed him that he did not even need to bring his own rope.

Here's an e-mail I sent to WaPo's 'offensive comments' address (blogs@washingtonpost.com)-

//To whom it may concern;

On January 30, 2007; 8:51 AM ET, William Arkin posted an offensive article on your website. That Arkin is an employee of the post makes it no less offensive, as he was using slanderous, incorrect and misleading speech about the US military and our soldiers in Iraq.

They aren't mercenaries, they don't make a decent wage due to liberal policy, and I don't where Arkin gets the nerve to say we ship them "obscene amenities".

Rather than letting him arbitrarily use washingtonpost.com as a dumping ground for his leftist diatribe, perhaps you should send him to northern Iraq, and he can tell the soldiers what he thinks of them to their faces.//

Of course, nobody there is going to care or have the cajones to do anything about it.

Lets see:
Regular citizens can’t favor the war because they aren’t there. (Chickenhawks).
Soldiers can’t speak for themselves because they aren’t free to speak their minds, and besides their young, stupid, and don’t know better.
Officers can’t comment because they’re war-mongering sycophants.
Our government leaders certainly can’t talk after stealing two elections. Where do Republicans get off thinking they can legitimately govern anyway.

Did I cover everybody,
Oh wait, will all you right wing columnists please stop calling yourself journalists. The only thing worse that a wing nut who must open his mouth is one that feels the need to right it down for posterity.

I love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:

http://www.americanlegends.blogspot.com

If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.

Thanks,
Mark

// In the 30 years that we've had an all-volunteer force, this is the first war we've had where the justness of the cause is questionable and where we are losing and still could "lose." //

If Saddam had been feeding migrant Mexican farm workers into recycling shredders, if his sons had been raping black girls in front of their soon-to-be murdered parents, you could bet your life he and his ilk would have no problem with the justness of the cause.

No amount of sophistry or patronizing words of sympathy can hide the fact that every flag-draped coffin that arrives home fills their hearts with glee.

Let's see...we have brave men and women who are willing to go to Iraq and risk losing both their lives or getting their asses shot off by those pricks over there for very little money and virtually no respect from our political leaders, and this moron says this trip? But...what else can we expect from the left? And...we get what we deserve from those we elect...

The trouble with all this on Frank's site is that it's not particularly funny. What we need is something more like:

*News Flash*

The controversy is spreading like wildfire around the blogosphere about IMAO's Frank J's comments, possibly designed to drum up publicity for his new book, about how the general newsmedia and Democrat politicians aren't truly anti-war in the slightest but are merely mercenaries accepting pay from their supporters in order to live in luxurious environments. Journalists have accused him of being insensitive and not understanding just how difficult it is to drum up anything that the American Public will pay any attention to; similarly, politicians claim that he is out of touch with the difficulties that must be surmounted to both with a primary and a general election. The closest Frank has come to an apology is to comment "my stated business is traffic in hot air (of the amusing type) -- what's your excuse?!"

Wow, that was pretty cool. It's pretty good to see someone actually defending us.

Folks have you noticed the beginning of the anti-soldier campaign starting? Ie.. william arkin in the WAPO, Ted the swimmer and Turbin Durbin teed it up and now it is starting in the leftardosphere and the MSM this of course was all planned from the start they were just waiting until service members started speaking up and wella! Suddenly the soldiers and all service members are mercenaries and worse. Shades of Vietnam indeed.
