Yeah, We're Great
Posted by Frank J. at 12:47 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (23)

I've seen a number of references in the blogosphere to this short ad entitled "A World Without America" by some British group. People seem to like it, but for some reason I find it off-putting. Actually, I guess I feel that way whenever a foreign national heaps gushing praise on America. I don't know why, but I just do.

They should've played up the denim jeans angle a bit more rather than a brief blip at the end.

A world without America is a world without jorts.

Aww, now they made me blush!

#2 - Posted by: Basilisk on February 21, 2007 01:11 PM

Yeah, but (insert lengthy non sequitur about Bush here)

#3 - Posted by: Sarcasm Man on February 21, 2007 01:11 PM

I rather enjoy the recognition. I think the rest of the world should get over the fact that they totally suck, stop being jealous of us being hugely better than them in every way, and start licking our boots and thanking us profusely as they should.

Any other reaction by foreigners in their so-called countries is just delusion on the grandest scale. Tossers.

We rock...they suck...nuff said! Sigh...we do have our share of...well...Sarcasm'sm to deal with but we still rock and they still suck and it's good to see that they know it!

Parody of Sarcasm Man FTW!

The reason foreign praise of America seems a little "off-putting" to American patriots is because it pales in comparison with the high-quality American-made pro-America materials we see every day, along with the constant reinforcement of the fact of our greatness delivered all day every day by our five senses.

This is analogous to the difficulty the conservative blogosphere faces in getting normal Americans to pay attention to the degree of anti-Americanism overseas these days. Those of us used to the (sometimes subtle, always awesomely schizoid) high-quality American-made anti-American screeds of our MSM and Congress find it difficult to take the juvenile (and frequently third-hand and internally inconsistent) fantasies of foreign-made anti-Americanism seriously.

These dudes need to learn that its a world without God they're talking about, not a world without America.
God's the one bringing America's success. Seeing as how we are still, even with all our numerous faults, the most Christian country in the world.

It's natural to feel a little embarrassed when someone talks about how good you are. However, I think this is a great commerical and important so that more people understand, not only what the US has done, but also why the US does what it does.

We could control the world if we wanted to. Instead, we actually LET people like Chavez insult us.

#10 - Posted by: keith on February 21, 2007 02:06 PM

Well, it only makes sense...

We pull them out of two World Wars, they praise us.

#11 - Posted by: Andrew on February 21, 2007 02:16 PM

Seeing as how we are still, even with all our numerous faults, the most Christian country in the world.

I think Vatican City has us beat in terms of per capita percentages of Christians, but that's just because of the fact they they are a sovereign nation... of sorts. =+)

My edited comment above wasn't about Bush it was about Cheney's lie today that the U.S. is better off in Iraq because the British are cutting and running.

Since my comment was edited I thought I would point out that IMAO is getting trounced by the fanatical Iran leader's blog.

IMAO (sucky rank of 1,529)

Blog by Ahmadinejad, the right wing religious leader of Iran (rank 205)
http://www.technorati.com/search/www.ahmadinejad.ir%2F

How pathetic does that make IMAO? It is probably lazymonkey's fault for hardly ever posting. Seriously if you bloggers don't pick up the pace you are going to lose a lot of your traffic and readers.

Sarcasmo,

Amananana is a fascist, which is simply a communist of another stripe, which makes him a leftist. Right wingers are the crazy gun guys who don't like any gubmint, and how you can equate a national socialist with an anarchist is stretching things a tad. It's a lie forced into every school kid since WWII.

#14 - Posted by: PaleoMedic on February 21, 2007 03:15 PM

Given that Frank J. is still (relatively) a kid in his 20s and a couple years out of college, and Ahmadinejad is the president of a country that's able to imprison you and perfectly capable of cooking the books on this sort of thing - it's kinda pathetic the two are that close.

#15 - Posted by: on February 21, 2007 03:28 PM

Well, if anyone knows about lying it would be Sarcasm Woman Trapped in A Man's Body.

Speaking of the Madman of Iran, a great way to remember how his wacky name is pronounced is "I'm in da jihad".

#17 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 21, 2007 04:56 PM

I much prefer the letter written by a Canadian (I think) shortly after 9-11. It was a much more comprehensive list than this little one. But I can't seem to locate it - it made it's way around the web shortly after 9-11.

Your welcome.

Without America, Columbus would have just kept sailing and not known what he was missing instead of not realizing what he found.

Fat chance on sailing to China though, which is about eight times the distance.

The unsigned poster above is a complete jerk.

#21 - Posted by: Neo on February 22, 2007 12:37 AM

i pray IMAO never has the same psycho readers that Ahmadinejad has following him. does he not remind you of Charles Manson?

#22 - Posted by: bikermommy on February 22, 2007 11:15 AM

You know sarcasm man, you should go back to the website you so obviously prefer. See ya.
