IMAO Readership Quality Screening Test
Posted by Harvey at 09:56 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (35)

Take the "Are You a Dumb American Quiz", examine your results, and follow the appropriate instructions below:

You Are a Smart American
You know a lot about US history, and your opinions are probably well informed.

You may continue reading IMAO and leaving witty and/or insightful comments.

You Are Not a Dumb American
You know a good deal about American history, but there are some basic facts you have wrong.

You may continue reading IMAO for educational purposes, but don't comment, lest your inferior knowledge endumben the rest of us.

You Are an Average American
You know a little bit about America, but not enough to actually deserve the citizenship you were born into.

In the future, please avoid IMAO and voting booths.

You Are a Dumb American
What are you doing here? Isn't it against company policy to surf from work at the New York Times?

Flee from this place lest we punch you in your dumb monkey face and taunt you a second time.

You Are Nancy Pelosi
Welcome, Madame Speaker!

So... how did you do?

Rating: 4.3/5 (3 votes cast)

100% Smart American

I wonder if these will be the same questions on that new show that sees if you are smarter than a 5th grader

#1 - Posted by: Derek on February 27, 2007 10:42 AM

I'm a smart American.

And I'm not even an American - I mean I live in America - but I wasn't born here, and I'm still only a Permanent Resident...

Don't worry, I came here legally... from Canada.

#2 - Posted by: Jeff on February 27, 2007 10:44 AM

My mommy always said I was smart, but I didn't know IMAO was going to think so too...

Here's to giving a crap about the gov't.

#3 - Posted by: Hannah banana on February 27, 2007 10:54 AM

I'm a Smart American...from Australia...living in France.

#4 - Posted by: Dylan on February 27, 2007 10:55 AM

I Are Smurt.

#5 - Posted by: Dr. Phat Tony on February 27, 2007 11:22 AM

7/10, and I'm a furriner.

#6 - Posted by: Francesco Poli on February 27, 2007 11:39 AM

I can keep posting. Bwahahaha.

Witty. That's a riot.

#7 - Posted by: Ringmaster on February 27, 2007 11:39 AM

As a Smart American, I now have full authorization to make witty and/or insightful comments.

I'll start any day now....

#8 - Posted by: Master Shake on February 27, 2007 12:00 PM

10/10, yep. I'm a smart one.

#9 - Posted by: SilverBubble on February 27, 2007 12:08 PM

8/10 But I'm having some back pain so that could account for it. Or there are some things I just don't know/have forgotten. When you get to be my age one of the first things to go is memory....

Maybe I should take the history quiz. Could be fun! Where am I again.

#10 - Posted by: seanmahair on February 27, 2007 12:09 PM

AAIIIEEEE!

It’s the Wicked Witch of the West!
Quick, gimme water!

#11 - Posted by: Writer on February 27, 2007 12:12 PM

me's a smart 'merkin...

but then, you knew that already because i've told you many times...

#12 - Posted by: shane on February 27, 2007 12:25 PM

8 out of 10. but where was the question about the first president to be impeached? I think I know that one.

#13 - Posted by: AlaskaNick on February 27, 2007 12:28 PM

10 out of 10. The questions were so easy, though, that I bet even some victims of public educaiton could get many of the right.

#14 - Posted by: fishlaw on February 27, 2007 12:48 PM

I’m smart, of course…otherwise I’d be in Iraq in the military!

#15 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on February 27, 2007 01:16 PM

Even before I clicked for the results I knew I got 100%. I think anyone who missed any of those questions should be forced to spend 400 hours watching speeches by Ronald Reagan and episodes of America Rock.

I would send them back to school, but that's where the problems started, n'est pas?

#16 - Posted by: keith on February 27, 2007 01:30 PM

10/10 maybe I will get that upgrade to Brian the Somewhat Nifty after all.

#17 - Posted by: Brian the Adequate on February 27, 2007 01:33 PM

it didn't tell me how many out of 10 i got right but it told me i'm a smart american. i'm pretty sure i got 10/10. i do appreciate you changing the spelling of "you're" to be the correct "your" when you did your results pictures, Harvey.

#18 - Posted by: sarahk on February 27, 2007 01:52 PM

I am a smart republican

#19 - Posted by: Sir Andrew on February 27, 2007 01:53 PM

Wait, I mean American...

Then again, all true Americans are Republican

#20 - Posted by: Sir Andrew on February 27, 2007 01:54 PM

I can't believe the DUmmies & KosKids haven't shown up yet, bragging about their Pelosi scores...

#21 - Posted by: Harvey on February 27, 2007 02:34 PM

I'm confused.

My test results came back negative. Does that mean I took the test wrong?

#22 - Posted by: AlanABQ on February 27, 2007 03:21 PM

10/10, except that the first question really doesn't have a correct answer listed. 1776 is the year of the Declaration of Independence, not the year of the Revolution, which extended from 1775 to 1783.

Then again, maybe I'm just nit-picking...

#23 - Posted by: IllTemperedCur on February 27, 2007 04:00 PM

Sir Andrew, the reverse is not always true though. Not all Republicans are true Americans. Needs I mention the Reps that were wanting to go along with the Iraq War censure? Gorram Traitorous bastiches.

#24 - Posted by: DesertElephant on February 27, 2007 04:05 PM

10 out of 10 after I finally figured out that they were asking what decade the War of Northern Aggression happened.

#25 - Posted by: on February 27, 2007 04:41 PM

I got 8/10, so I went back and changed one answer, and got.... 8/10 again....

#26 - Posted by: No One of Consequence on February 27, 2007 05:03 PM

I don't know, sarahk...I thought the "and you're opinions are probably well informed" was quite the delicious irony.

And IllTemperedCur, I don't think you're nit-picking. That bugged me, as well. My thought taking that was, "Where's the correct answer of 'The year the Declaration of Independence was signed'?"

#27 - Posted by: on February 27, 2007 05:07 PM

Yes, another foreigner gets the Smart American Award. I think I got 10/10 but like sarahk didn't see my score. Hope I can still comment!

BTW, if you'd like to learn more about Canada (and who wouldn't) read this:

#28 - Posted by: The Bear on February 27, 2007 05:50 PM

I would have had 10/10, but for one question. I hate the Delaweenies.

#29 - Posted by: Anon Y. Mous on February 27, 2007 06:13 PM

Canada? Gay men and hairy women...no thanks! eh?

#30 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on February 27, 2007 06:21 PM

I got 'Smart American' which isn't bad since I'm not American.

But I do know all.

#31 - Posted by: Remulak MoxArgon on February 27, 2007 09:22 PM

10 out of 10 makes you smart? You oughtta be able to answer these questions coming out of anesthesia...

#32 - Posted by: bunkerboy on February 27, 2007 10:58 PM

I assume I got 10/10, but I also was given no score other than that I'm A Smart American.

also was bugged at the 1776 question, but I completely skimmed over "you're"

#33 - Posted by: tommy on February 28, 2007 12:47 AM

I knew I'd get the first state question right... we spent half a year in 5th grade learning Delaware's history.

I correctly answered the other questions too, though. I mean, seriously though, how could you miss more than two of those questions (even if you went to public schools!)?

#34 - Posted by: thegoddessanna on February 28, 2007 09:55 AM

Although I got them all right, I'd be willing to excuse getting the questions wrong about "first state" and "what does D.C stand for", since those are more location-specific, and less important in terms of knowledge of the US in general.
