Unintentionally funny . . .
Posted by Frank J. at 06:49 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (10)

Why is the MSM going apoplectic over the firing of nine U.S. Attorneys (who serve entirely at the President's discretion), when President Clinton fired 93 of them in one fell swoop when he went into office for no reason other than that they were appointed by Republican Presidents?

ABC refuses to acknowledge Clinton's mass firings at all, while NPR has "experts" on who lie about it.

I see Dr. Kenneth has brought to us another tragic example of BDS run rampant. Screw Autism... cure BDS now! I think anything .45 or bigger is a great miracle cure.

I love the mention of Clinton in the NPR article. Apparently the statistics they have possess a +- 92 Attorney Margin of Error.

I was under the impression that most presidents fire all the attorneys at the beginning of their terms and the only wierd thing here was that it happened in the middle of a term.

It's because the attorneys were fired for not committing an illegal act that Rove wanted them to do. Remember how there was no October surprise like Rove wanted? It is because of these attorneys. They refused to engage in illegal investigations of Democrats for Rove and so the Repubs got their butts kicked in the election. It also doesn't help that Gonzales lied to Congress the other day. If Bush had listened to Harriet Meiers (sp?) and fired all the attorneys at once (not select ones) he wouldn't have this problem but as usual Bush is an idiot and thinks he can do whatever he wants. It isn't just the MSM and dems. A GOP Senator has just called for Gonzales to resign.

Sac Man,

Try getting your facts straight for once. They aren’t claiming that they were pressured into illegal investigations of any sort. Some of them are claiming that they felt inappropriately pressured into pursuing investigations that they thought lacked enough merit to pursue. To what degree that part is true is an open question. The stuff about illegal investigations is bull crap.

I have little doubt politics is involved but don’t overplay your hand. This one’s a mole, hill not a mountain. It’s an investigation starter. Where such an investigation ends is anyone’s guess. Get wise, both sides do this shit.

while NPR has "experts" on who lie about it.

Of course they do. If you don't lie about things, NPR won't designate you an expert.

Do you suppose that Sarcasm Man is an expert for NPR?

I like the way their "expert" just sort of cruises on by after mentioning Saint Jimmeh fired one because he wanted to quash an investigation.

No big Deal.
Typical double standard, with a low standard for the Left and a high standard for the Right. Nothing new here.
Sarc man, the Lefties simply want a reason to open investigations. They haven't yet found a real one, and they are getting desperate to discredit the administration and make people forget about Slick Willie before Hill the Shrill runs for office.

There is another huge difference here. Bush used a patriot act provision (to avoid confirmation hearings) added last year to replace these highly qualified attorneys that he obviously fired for political reasons. And Bush promised all U.S. citizens they would not abuse the Patriot Act for political gain -- clearly this promise was another big lie from Bush. Bush is obviously abusing the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act was created to stop terrorism not for things like removing attorneys so you can replace them with pro-Bush ones. The Bush Administration's blatant abuse of the Patriot Act is a huge big deal. This scandal is big and will continue to snowball.

You know, for someone that accuses us of being obsessed with the President, Wankgasm man certainly mentions Bush about 100 times more often. Just count, per IMAO post, how many times The Tosser uses the Prez's name in the comments. Then compare it to the totally number of words spoken. Bum Boy's obsession with the Man in the Oval Office becomes painfully clear.

No wonder he hates the Big man. He's in love with him, but Bush isn't down with Teh Gay.
