New plan for future space launches: Have Fred Thompson stand by the launch pad and glare angrily at the rocket so it will reach escape velocity out of necessity.
We NEED Fred Thompson in the White House to glare at democRATs in congress until they piss themselves!
An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force or glared at by Fred Thompson.
This system is only useful for lunar and inter-planetary launches.
For orbital and suborbital launches we'll have to use my mother.
Sadly, your plan wouldn't work, for there is no escape velocity from Fred Thompson.
