Sounds Like a Good Eye Witness... Just Wish I Could Understand a Word He's Saying
Shouting "Allah!" with each punch? I might try that next time I practice martial arts. These terrorist attacks have been pretty unsuccessful (except for getting Paris Hilton off the news; thanks for that), but even the blind squirrel eventually finds an acorn. He was shouting the fire-dousing incantation "Allah" to try and get the flames off him. Not only did I understand what he was saying but thought he was a very good, specific witness. Of course my people all came from Ireland, Scotland and Wales but we've been here a while, so I'm not sure that counts. Still I hope the Brits understand that they are back to where they were when Churchill gave his "Never give up, never surrender". What more does it take to be considered a traitor in the UK? #6 - Posted by: jack on July 1, 2007 11:42 AMI think part of the problem some people have with understanding him is that the vocabulary he uses is different (how many Americans use the word "fracas"?). I understood every word he said. However I think I must be pretty good with accents, because the only person I haven't been able to understand was this guy from Turkey who sounded like he spoke every word in a very quiet mumble. Everyone else seemed to be able to understand him, but I could only get about half of what he was saying and the rest sounded like "mumble mumble" to me. Maybe his voice was in a frequency that's a sort of auditory "blind spot" for me, I don't know. #7 - Posted by: Wacky Hermit on July 2, 2007 08:44 AMhow many Americans use the word "fracas"?
