Here's Your Answer
Posted by Harvey at 05:04 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (45)

In a terribly off-topic comment to a John Edwards post, anonymous commenter with no contact information Yak asks:

Exactly why is the U.S. deployed in Iraq, according to you?

Fine.

Let's stop mincing words.

We're in Iraq because Muslims have stated over and over and over that their only goal is to kill all non-Muslims.

After 9/11, we started taking them at their word, and since we didn't want to be killed, our only choice was to start killing Muslims before they killed us.

Iraq had Muslims in it, so it was as good a place to start as any. In fact, better than most, because it was in the heart of Muslim country, and having troops there gives us a credible force-projection threat throughout the entire putrid, corrupt, murderous Muslim region. It's easier to kill Muslims in other countries from Iraq than it is from Kuwait.

And now Muslims have two choices:

They can reform their vicious, degenerate religion so that it allows for peaceful co-existence with other religions and - after embracing this enlightened, live-and-let-live philosophy whole-heartedly - they can become productive members of the civilized world, much like post-WWII Germany and Japan.

OR

They can be exterminated like vermin.

All the rest of this crap about WMD's, and mass graves, and liberation, and oil fields, and insurgents is just so much political window-dressing. America is fighting for its life against an insidious, deadly ideology. The people who cling to that sick, 7th-century belief system must either change their minds or be killed.

I wish with all my heart that we had enough manpower to conquer every damn last Muslim nation on earth and root this virus out once and for all, but we don't. So we'll start in Iraq, dragging these barbarians kicking and screaming into the 21st century. After that, hopefully the rest of the Muslim world will get the point. If not, there will be further examples, nation by nation, until they do.

Then, when the Muslim world is either civilized or dead, the war will be over.

I hope that answers your question.

Harvy! for President.

#2 - Posted by: Jimmy on August 13, 2007 05:23 PM

That is the best summation of the War on Terror I've ever seen. I don't know why people don't understand the fighting for peace mentality. Democrats have the appeaser mentality because then Muslims will vote Democrat.

#3 - Posted by: loomdog on August 13, 2007 05:29 PM

That pretty much sums it up.

As they say on Tim and Eric Awesome Show: Great Job!

#4 - Posted by: Master Shake on August 13, 2007 05:31 PM

Perhaps a step further, Harvey? We need to close our borders NOW to Muslim immigration, legal or otherwise. When are we going to take their Gihad seriously? Once we're overrun? Britain and France are nearly there.

#5 - Posted by: Jimmy on August 13, 2007 05:37 PM

I love some of the early precepts of Islam. It is when the book turns all violent and bloody is when I decided it is not a good thing to get involved with.

Islam is dangerous! When will the Leftists get it through their thick skulls and into their tiny brain pans?

Seig Allah! Seig Allah!

#6 - Posted by: Bruce B on August 13, 2007 05:43 PM

Excellent. Nice work.

#7 - Posted by: Blake on August 13, 2007 05:48 PM

We have a WINNAH!

Give that man a cigar!

Sooner or later they're going to figure out that we can make more bullets that they can make jihadis. The oil there won't last forever, and they're not good for much else. So when the money is gone, it's back to the tent and camel for the lot of them.

Remember, Allah is on the side with the biggest artillery, or the stealth fighters, or the predator drones, or the MLRS, or the ect. ect.

Excellent post, Harvey. Most excellent indeed!

Quit beating around the bush, tell us how you really feel.
Loved it, you need to give lessons in plain talk to politicians

#14 - Posted by: DixieKraut on August 13, 2007 09:28 PM

God, why can't we have politicians who put it like that?

I'm voting Harvey for president!

#15 - Posted by: on August 13, 2007 09:51 PM

He takes a swing... and knocks it!!! Right out of the park!! Holy crap! That ball just hit a hippie in the parking lot!

OMG Harv! That was beautifully fierce. Talking about truth to power, you could have lit up all of California with that one!

I hope you don't mind but I'm giving this to Moonbunny to quote next time she get a writing assignment in social studies(this school year upcoming)

Second the DE, only wild applause instead

You sir are my hero. You can ride in on your white charger to the rescue anytime.

Awesome post. Thank you.

#19 - Posted by: seanmahair on August 13, 2007 11:42 PM

Harvey, that was amazing. Your most beautiful post...ever. You sent chills down my spine with your clear, concise, brilliant delivery of the truth.

#20 - Posted by: on August 13, 2007 11:52 PM

Harvey would have been a horrible military leader. He would have gone in slashing and fighting with no rhyme or reason and no strategy at all. Why squander so many troops and resources in Iraq when we have enormous bombs and special forces - especially when are outnumbered on the ground? It was just playing into Al Qaeda's hands. That's what the Bush administration did when they went into Iraq. They fell right into a trap. It was simply a dumb move and has cost us a great deal.

#21 - Posted by: Sarcasm Man on August 14, 2007 12:37 AM

Oh, I get it. Sarcasm Man, because you meant the opposite of what you said... Anyway...

Harvey, you sir, are a genious!

#22 - Posted by: code3 on August 14, 2007 12:45 AM

I guess Cromwell's philosophy applies?
kill em all and let G-d sort them out.
After sorting they will be on the way to Dante's Inferno, maybe? (Hope, hope)

#23 - Posted by: Glenn on August 14, 2007 02:22 AM

Heh. Bullet-proof props to Harvey for laying it out, plain & simple.

#24 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 14, 2007 03:59 AM

Wow! You read my mind, Harvey! I wish our Pols. would just come out and say it like that! Alas, we have to be "sensative" these days don't we? Sigh!!!

#25 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on August 14, 2007 04:48 AM

Sarcasm Man - Yeah, I would suck as a military leader.

However, that doesn't alter the nature of the conflict or the accuracy with which I've described it.

Glad to see you're on board with my assessment. Or so I assume from your attempt at changing the subject

#26 - Posted by: Harvey on August 14, 2007 06:14 AM

That's not what CNN said.....

#27 - Posted by: will.see on August 14, 2007 07:59 AM

Glad to see you're on board with my assessment. Or so I assume from your attempt at changing the subject

I'm on board. The West faces a grave threat from islamists. I'm concerned that the non-violent threat is just as big of a problem as the suicide bombing one. They have used immigration to get a foothold in Europe where they are now trying to subvert the political process.

#28 - Posted by: Sarcasm Man on August 14, 2007 08:47 AM

YAY HARVEY!

WE want to have your baby. ALL of us. Even the guys...

I already have the flu but now I'm feeling really unwell. I might agree with Sarc and that makes me really uneasy. I think I'll go take my temperature.

#31 - Posted by: seanmahair on August 14, 2007 10:21 AM

Where can I get "Fred/Harvey '08" bumper stickers?

#32 - Posted by: James on August 14, 2007 10:29 AM

I don't know about Harvey for president... but maybe a Thompson/Harvey ticket?

#33 - Posted by: BigJohn on August 14, 2007 10:35 AM

There used to be a joke (circa 1980):

Q: How come in the original Star Trek series you never see an Arab?

A: Because it's set in the future.

#34 - Posted by: FormerHostage on August 14, 2007 10:37 AM

Excellent post. That is almost exactly how I have explained the WOT to other stupid liberals.

Basically we have three choices:

1. Submit to Islam and lose Western Civilization (the left has already chosen this course)

2. Try to help reform Islam by encouraging Muslim countries to adopt fundamental aspects of Western Civilization, like freedom of religion, speech and conscience

3. Use disproportionate force to kill millions of Muslims until the jihadist impulse is once again suppressed, if not finally destroyed. WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DO THIS.

We're trying option no. 2 so we don't have to do option no. 3. The left's irrational Bush hatred and war opposition is merely increasing the probability that we will eventually have to use option 3. And no, you stupid leftards, don't come back with a bunch of "other enlightened" options. I'm teaching you, not talking with you.

#35 - Posted by: Chestertonrules on August 14, 2007 10:44 AM

Well done. It's sad that so many people still need this explained to them.

#36 - Posted by: Andrew on August 14, 2007 10:45 AM

Harvey, I'd vote for you for president, except I plan on running myself which means, of course, that I plan to vote for myself.

Oh, and while you correctly stated the primary reason, you forgot to mention the secondary reason we went into Iraq: eliminating all of the goat and camel lovin' by those jihadist douchebags. I mean really, it's just gross.

#37 - Posted by: physics geek on August 14, 2007 11:08 AM

I just love you Harvey. That was HANDS DOWN the BEST POST I've seen in a long long time. Dude, you NAILED it!

I'm impressed. And proud.

Good job!

#38 - Posted by: Tammi on August 14, 2007 11:41 AM

Harvey, I reprinted your post at my blog and someone called "anonymous" said I was a psycho, mistaking your words for mine.

I was honored.

I wish with all my heart that we had enough manpower to conquer every damn last Muslim nation on earth and root this virus out once and for all, but we don't.

That's what planes, tanks, ships, a nuclear arsenal, and Fred Thompson are for.

#40 - Posted by: Sir Andrew on August 14, 2007 12:20 PM

Really we should still be bombing Iraq, I mean... we have enough bombs to incinerate every inch of ground on the earth's surface, why in the hell are we letting the bastards live?

#41 - Posted by: Trigger on August 14, 2007 12:58 PM

there is another solution:
iran is big enough to nuke without fallout into other countries, and will deliver the message that much quicker

#42 - Posted by: nacb4uf on August 14, 2007 01:07 PM

Damn fine post Harv.
As you brought up WWII one thing we seem to have forgotten how we made Germany and Japan productive members of the global society. We beat them so badly there was never a doubt about who the winners and losers were. Winners don't decide when wars are over, losers do when they unconditionally surrender. Until they give up you just keep pounding away and damn the collateral domage.

Elect an atheist! None o' this peace & love bullshit. "If you can't be liked, be feared" straight down the line.

You've said what I believe but couldn't put quite so succinctly.
