Ronin Profiles: ChrisA

ChrisA
Let's meet some more IMAO readers. Today, it's ChrisA.

* * * *

What's the story behind your name? I was originally posting as Chris, but then another Chris started posting, so I decided to copy FrankJ and use my last initial. I'm not very clever at inventing nicknames for myself.

Where do you live? Winnebago, MN. And yes... we have a Dairy Queen here... not much else, though. My wife and I moved up here a year ago from Phoenix. You can shoot guns out on the farms! All I have to do now is finally get my own gun.

How old are you? 27

Tell us briefly about yourself. I'm married, work in a factory, go to church as a part-time aspiring Catholic. My hobbies are BBQing, playing with power tools, and making fun of hippies. I'm also looking at going to school to become an engineer.

Humor is fascist. Explain. I would've almost said it wasn't. But, maybe it is in the sense that it causes you to laugh uncontrollably, have difficulty breathing. After having experienced real humor, you'd have even more trouble being able to tolerate hate-filled lefties. So could it be fascist for having forced a change?

How long have you been reading IMAO? I've been reading for a few years now. I'm not sure how I found it anymore, but it made me laugh.

What's your favorite IMAO post? In My World has been a favorite along with some of the Don't Be a Hate-Filled Lefty. Fabulous Facts of John Edwards have been fun, too.

What's you favorite political issue? I like anything that exposes corrupt politicians or debunks the mainstream media. Crushing the immigration bill has been a real 'power to the people' moment.

Do you have a website? If so, please tell us briefly about it. I have a dorky blog at http://bitofterrific.blogspot.com/ I don't post very often, and it's usually about food when I do.

What would you do with a million pesos? I would ask my wife for a quarter, then I'd combine it with the million pesos and go to Burger King to get a value meal. Or, I could convert it all into Canadian money and be one of the richest people there!

If you commented that you want to be included before, you're still in the running. You can also comment in this post; just make sure you fill in your e-mail on the comment form (only I can see it so you don't have to worry about getting spam). Eventually we'll get to everyone. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far!

I also posted as Chris. Then OtherChris. What kind of gun are you thinking of getting?

#2 - Posted by: BigBadUnderdog on August 13, 2007 08:29 PM

Catholics are sexy!
And what kind of gun are you getting?

#3 - Posted by: No-L on August 13, 2007 08:42 PM

I'll stick with 'ChrisA'. I post on other sites using that one now, too.

I have a few guns in mind. I've been thinking about a 9mm (from what I understand, ammo wouldn't be too pricey, then I could practice a lot.) I'd love to get a .45 (They're just so cool). Other than that, I'm not sure yet. I'm open to suggestions.

And yes, Catholics are sexy!

I also post as Chris now and then.... think I should use a new name now.

Winnebago, MN. And yes... we have a Dairy Queen here... not much else, though. My wife and I moved up here a year ago from Phoenix.

you can shoot guns in the desert too, been there done that, wish me and mine had stayed in Phoenix.

If you don't mind the drive you can attend my Friends of Fred! event. It's posted on his website and at KTLKFM.

Does anyone have any ideas for a low-cost beginner pistol?

#7 - Posted by: ChrisA on August 13, 2007 10:48 PM

ChrisA-

You're a friggin' smart-ass. You talk as much smack as you can in the fewest words possible & still get the point across.

I hope you never change.

If you get nothing else, get a 12 gauge shotgun w/ a modified stock (pistol grip interchangeable)... Sabot slugs can be wicked fun. Also, get a well made revolver: no casings left behind after busting up a hippy rally & they don't jam.

A good starter gun for me would've been an HK MP7 PDW. (http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg49-e.htm)

Hello to a fellow Minnesota resident. We won't mention our national disgrace (Vikings) since football season is upon us and it's time for the boys to start hitting the paper with local arrests on various criminal enterprises all while getting their asses kicked every weekend by crummy teams like the Packers! And they don't call them "packers" for...well...they are AquaMan's favs! Good answers!

#9 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on August 14, 2007 04:44 AM

They have inner-net in Winnebego? KIDDING! Nice to know a Minnesotan who can honestly say he didn't vote for Gov. Turnbuckle.

Look into a .38 . S&W, Taurus, whatever. They're not spendy, ammo is cheap, and they still have a bit of power.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I don't believe there should be a thing like a "beginner gun". Buy something of good quality that fits the profile for what you want, I'm getting a .45 Kimber Tactical Custom II.

#11 - Posted by: Trigger on August 14, 2007 12:43 PM

Just remember...you get what you pay for. A GLOCK would be my first choice they average about $550 and a Kel-tec would be my second---the kel-tec though may require some polishing to remove tool marks from the factory, aka a fluff and buff. I had mine for about 2 years before I did that. But your best bet and bang for the buck is a GLOCK.

#12 - Posted by: glockman on August 14, 2007 12:45 PM

My first piece was a Smith and Wesson 640. CCW .357 revolver. Next was a Glock 36 .45 ACP CCW. They were both reasonably priced and VERY reliable given the amount of lead that has run through both barrels.

#13 - Posted by: DesertElephant on August 14, 2007 02:31 PM

I recently purchased a Springfield XD .45 I love that gun. It feels good in the hand, and plenty powerful. The 9mm Glocks that I fired just seemed weak. They fit fine in the hand, but not what I wanted to feel as I squeezed off several rounds. My wife has fired the 45, and it is too much for her. I think she would be better off with the 9mm. Whatever gun you choose, PLEASE try it before you buy it. Nothing worse than buying the thing and finding out later that you hate it.

I agree with AlanABQ, make sure to get a 12 gauge!!

#14 - Posted by: Elevenbane on August 14, 2007 04:53 PM

I wanna get a 12 guage, but shooting that one-handed (which is really the only way I can shoot) would be a bit tricky. I may pick up a 20 gauge. I have 3 pistols and no long guns. I can has shotgunz?

#15 - Posted by: DesertElephant on August 14, 2007 07:22 PM

Can I be interviewed? Please? I gots a gun and talk preety too...

#16 - Posted by: technogypsy on August 14, 2007 09:44 PM
What would you do with a million pesos?

It's worth a little over $90,000 now, so convert it quick before Mexico does something else to FUBAR their economy.

#17 - Posted by: MegaTroopX on August 15, 2007 12:07 AM

I've had an HK USP .40 for about 6 years now. It has served me well, and I recommend it. I am beginning to be tempted by the Glock 31, though. For a beginner gun - and I agree that there is no such thing - get a .22. Cheap ammo, great for practicing, and you can use it to teach your kids to shoot. Whatever you do, DO NOT get a cheap gun!!!

#18 - Posted by: BigBadUnderdog on August 15, 2007 12:23 PM

Thanks for the gun advice. I'd love to one day get a .45, and I'm thinking about getting a .38, a little partial to the S&W for some reason. A 12 gauge would just freakin rule for home defense, too. If the sound of racking a shell didn't make an intruder scramble for the doors, I don't know what else would.

AlanBBQ - My parents never appreciated my being a smart ass growing up. Now I can tell them that people DO appreciate it - LOL.
