You Mean It's a Complex Situation with Both Negatives and Positives?
Posted by Frank J. at 11:22 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (13)

So Der Spiegel has an article about how things aren't as bad in Iraq as many people think. After the New York Times did an editorial say we could win there, I guess being positive about Iraq is the new fad for liberal newspapers.

NEWSPAPERS: "I hope you weren't taking all of our negative, one-sided coverage of the war seriously; there's actually some big progress there."

PEOPLE: "I only bought you for the comics."

NEWSPAPERS: "You can actually get those online now."

PEOPLE: "Well then screw you."

Wait, newspapers still have comics in them? I've just been reading them online.

You read Der Spiegel?

They *print* newspapers on *paper*? Why? I don't understand, how can you click a link on a piece of paper? How would one navigate around it?

Translation: As a mainstream media hack, I am frightened of anything that might hurt me...terribly frightened...just as I was back on the schoolyard when that heavyset girl would threaten me, causing me to pee, which caused the other children to laugh at me...I still hate them all.

So, the only thing that is more important to me than promoting my socialist agenda is the possibility that I, personally, might be injured by a dangerous person. So, while it's fun to put down the troops who risk their lives for my safety, when it looks like my side might actually have a shot at getting their way and retreating from the bad guys, there's a real possibility that these Muslims could kill me. So, go troops...for now.

The MSM struts down the street to the adoration of the (liberal) crowd and decides to, magnanomously, report to the "Great Unwashed" that, "Eh...we supppoooose there might be soooome good from actions being taken in Iraq." *sniff*

Meanwhile, a small boy in the crow points and says, "Hey, they're naked!"

The Democrats are no longer pushing for an immediate pullout so the liberal rags are trying to change their spin on the war in order to get the nutroot base to get down off their towers long enough to vote Democrat next year.

I buy them just to see the ever so insightful work of Ted Rall.

I tried lining a bird cage with the online edition once... never again...

More than that, Squiboda. They realize that IF they win, they'll have to deal with the WAR with no end in sight. Reality is setting in. Bashing Bush and shredding his Presidency turns out NOT to have been in the best interests of America OR the Democrat Party !! Pendulums are interesting devices.

Hmmm newspaper print bad stuff...people stop buying newspapers...wait, isn't that how capitalism's supposed to work, HOLY COW!! An EVIL CAPITALIST CONSPIRACY!!! QUICK EVERYBODY TURN SOCIALIST!

But socialism doesn't sell newspapers either. What a conundrum....
Maybe the newspapers can get the liberal congress to tax us for newspapers even if we don't need them.
Boy I should stop giving these guys ideas.

FYI, the NYT didn't print an editorial saying we can win, it printed an op-ed column. An editorial is the opinion of the editorial board of a newspaper, an op-ed is only the opinion of the person who wrote it and sent it into the paper.

#11 - Posted by: on August 14, 2007 04:01 PM

and you don't think papers like this screen there op-eds and select the ones they want?

#12 - Posted by: bobthemad on August 14, 2007 09:16 PM

Mad Bob - of course they do. And the free market has brought you here to read them!
