Making Crazy People Crazier
Posted by Frank J. at 10:27 AM | View blog reactions | Comments (15)

I kinda like how IMAO doesn't anger left wing blogs that often. We're a happy site, so who could be angry at us? Still, I sometimes envy the power of other people to enrage the other side, to get them screeching and jumping around like monkeys who just had their cage shaken.

I thought Jonah Goldberg's recent column was fairly innocuous. It's about that, while lefties dominate the web now, that's more due to them being on the offensive and things were different back when Clinton was president and will be different when a Democrat becomes President again. A simple, reasoned point with hardly an insult to the left thrown in it. Yet he got a giant post on the front page of Daily Kos dedicated to tearing him to shreds. Yes, a front page post; for the new "center" of the American pubic, there apparently is nothing more important than attacking Jonah Goldberg for pointing out the cyclical nature of political momentum. For about five or six paragraphs, Hunter writes, "I hate Jonah Goldberg. Jonah Goldberg is stupid. I hate Jonah Goldberg." over and over before even mentioning anything in the article he disputed (and his first objection to the article was a purely semantically one; Goldberg said writing professionally on the internet since 1998 make him old in newcomer years and Hunter says it makes him a "newcomer"). Actually, Hunter barely quotes any of the article and just rants for pages and pages. That's crazy hatred right there... near BDS level even.

That's almost like a superpower being able to drive the left into an irrational frenzy without even trying. What if Goldberg purposely tried to anger them and wrote something like, "Everyone at Kos smells and is ugly."? They'd go so crazy, they might miss that an election is going on.

For now, I'm happy as fun-loving Frank J., but I kept help imagine what I could do with such power.

I think Frank J. (in his important quest for funnies) probably reads Daily Kos far more than most Democrats and Independents do.

[I wouldn't dispute that. -Ed.]

The "netroots" (nutroots?) response is the equivalent of Microsoft writing 20 pages (which they did) defending why they didn't put a "reveal codes" feature in Microsoft Word...

#2 - Posted by: BatP00 on August 22, 2007 10:51 AM

Yeah, BatPOO, but it sounds like you actually read that Kos article! I just couldn't get past the first few paragraphs. It was just so much typical, wordy, whiney, liberal wheel spinning. "Nothing new there, move on."

#3 - Posted by: Jimmy on August 22, 2007 11:03 AM

With that kind of power, and a .45 you could defeat Aquaman.

#4 - Posted by: Sean GM on August 22, 2007 11:12 AM

But you DO have such power, Frank. You're attacking the left with humor and you let your readers (us) throw many of the funny punches in a "participatory liberal bashing with a smile" sort of way You gotta get your readership WAY UP, though, so all those KOS liberal script kiddies read YOU first every day for article ideas!

#5 - Posted by: Jimmy on August 22, 2007 11:23 AM

All those liberals do is write essays that make people fall asleep after 2 paragraphs

#6 - Posted by: USNA on August 22, 2007 12:14 PM

Jeez, that was like reading a "Seinfeld" script... it was the article about nothing. Cun... I mean Hunter really wanted to make it clear that he really doesn't like Goldberg. Anyone else seeing the "1984" parallel here, where they have their Two Minutes Hate against some fella...

What was his name...? Oh yeah, it was GoldSTEIN. Oh well, it's close enough. And Frank's right about it kinda approaching BDS- Goldberg isn't #1 “Enemy of the People”; Chimpy McHitlerBurton is. That's newspeak for Bush. So, in light of Kos' Orwellian fantasies, does that make DK the Ministry of Truth?

Maybe Hunter just dislikes uppity Jooos.

["Two Minutes of Hate"; I like that. I think that's a good name for these type rants. -Ed.]

Hopefully the left will keep writing craziness for all to see. This will most likely wake some people up to just how much of what they believe is nonsense.

#8 - Posted by: Red State Titan on August 22, 2007 12:27 PM

Titan, you're kidding right? These are folks that willfully delude themselves into thinking that the Biggest enemy to the world ever is the former Texas Governor and his "cohorts". We keep paddling up this feces-laden tributary, lacking our much-needed paddles, but their flow continues unstemmed.

But we appreciate the optimism. =+)

You gotta get your own dKos tag, man. We over at RedState have our own dKos tag, they hate us so much. Darned if I know why, since they have something like fifteen, twenty times our traffic.

Just saying, that's all.

//to anger them and wrote something like, "Everyone at Kos smells and is ugly."? //

Why would that anger them? They seem to take perverse pleasure in pointing out that this is in fact a truism, a erstwhile badge of honor.

As for "Hunter", he's a hack. The only reason he's even being read is that he's on the Net. No real publisher would hire him. He wouldn't know a fact if it stood up, danced naked on the table with a rose between it's teeth, and had unnatural relations with him.

Typical Kos Kiddies behavior. One expects no more from the terminally infantile.

Not really on topic, but whenever I read "Ed." comments like,

["Two Minutes of Hate"; I like that. I think that's a good name for these type rants. -Ed.]

or [I wouldn't dispute that. -Ed.]

It always sounds like James Earl Jones in my head.

As for DKos, I usually end up with a headache if I read them for too long. I think the foamy spittle on their monitors must impede there ability to write coherently.

Wow, Moe Lane, you guys really get their pretty pink panties up in a bunch, dontcha? I hit your link & I felt like I was walking into a feminist rally wearing a Betty Boop shirt.

Of course, the only reason I would even be at a feminist rally would be to pick up some chicks... hairy, odorous chicks.

#13 - Posted by: AlanABQ on August 22, 2007 01:36 PM

Sorry DesertElephant, you are right I was thinking of logical, intelligent thinking people who would use their brains to understand why leftists are wrong. I just know so many people who say "I would vote for so and so(D), but when you present the facts they get horrified looks on their faces. Which is when I direct them to Fred Thompson and they understand that D stands for dumb.

#14 - Posted by: Red State Titan on August 22, 2007 03:44 PM

BUT Frank- everyone at the Daily Kos IS ugly.

AND they DO smell.

Besides, they picked on JONAH- and we poached one of his quotes for the name of our blog, so we figure we really owe him one for never suing us.
