Know Nothings and What They Think They Know
Posted by Frank J. at 04:03 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (13)

There was a poll on political knowledge, and more liberals than conservatives think they are very knowledgeable about politics (42% versus 35%). First off, it should be noted that many fewer people identify themselves as liberal than conservative especially given the negative connotation, so you'd expect that group to be more politically aware to even identify themselves as liberal. More to the point, though, would you doubt that liberals think they know a lot about politics? If you ever read the left-wing blogosphere, they're quite a bunch of condescending nitwits. They sit around in their echo chamber whining about how much smarter they are than everybody else while failing to comprehend the most simple concepts. Like a sign for Republican Michael Steele in front of some people's yards saying "Steele Democrat" -- it made complete sense to everyone except the Kos Kids who scrunched their little monkey faces in confusion ("Steele not Democrat. What mean sign?"). Their whole political movement is based on the sad misperception that they actually know anything.

A no brainer since what a liberal says and what a liberal does (or claims and knows) are the same!

CRAP.

As a tangent, is THAT why Conservatives historically have the highest voter turnout and why they are most involved in their precincts? I think Conservatives are just more honest, Frank.

Condescension and Liberalism are permanently linked. If you are a person who thinks everyone around you is moron, you will think that big government is necessary to get these morons through their pathetic little lives.

That's also why Liberals don't want to follow the rules the peons do. "We liberals are smart enough to manage flying in private planes, owning a couple guns, etc. But who knows what those stupid people would do with that freedom!"

Hence, Al Gore doesn't view his extravagant energy usage as hypocritical at all. He's just one of the "smart people" who can handle his energy bill.

Frank, I think you're just trying to tick off the Kos Kids so much that they'll put a 5 page headline rant about you up on their site and give you your own category as a designated evil right-wing entity.

Warning: Somewhat bitter and meandering comment follows...

Liberals are the kids whose moms dressed them in plaid pants, peasant blouses and granny glasses, tie-died t-shirts with peace signs, or whatever the 1960's fashion trend of choice was, who then ended up getting pounded into the gravel on the playground after school, because they were single-handedly responsible for losing every kickball game in gym class ('I don't want to hurt the ball's feelings...'). They're the kids in high school who were in the chess club and were early adopters of "Dungeons and Dragons", never went to a football game ('It's too crowded and noisy, and those Neanderthals never understand us...') and ended up getting pantsed in front of the cheerleader's lockers. They're the self-proclaimed "outsiders" at college, who take classes from professors based on hair length (head or legs, whichever)and vagueness of the course syllabus, take copius notes on nothing in particular, and parrot back everything they've heard as proof of their "knowledge". They tend to switch majors with alarming frequency (usually ending up in Philosophy or "Cultural Studies"). They get angry and organize protests, especially when "the Establishment" (Mom and Dad) realize that after seven years of college, their little darling is still leaving dirty laundry on the floor by the washing machine, and the screeching of that pet monkey has been keeping them up at night since sophomore year, yet there's still no sign of employemnt in sight. They listen to obscure, foreign bands, make up food based on congealed soy beans and strange, Communist vegetables, and wander the streets after dark looking for that dream job at some head shop or juice bar that will pay enough while they finish their manifesto exposing the evils of the "NeoFascist WarPig Imperial Amerikan Colonial Empire". Oh, and still have money left over to score some primo weed.

Now that these over-entitled, over-indulged, bed-wetting, Mao-worshipping pansy children have been forced by the CIA/anti-environment/anti-poor child/anti-Gay Pride/Boooosh-loving military-industrial complex to actually take jobs and work for a living ('But we still have Nerf basketball and skateboards in our boardrooms! And primo weed!') I guess they figure it's payback time. They don't need to be politically aware. All they need to be able to do is imprint whatever the chic mantra of the moment is on their brains, and claim it as "political awareness". Then tell the rest of us, in their whiny, condescending, marijuana hoarse, screeching monkey voices how wrong we all are, and how only they are smart enough to tell us all where to go.

"Boooosh lied, kids died! Golbal Warming Sucks! Jihad Rocks!" ('Pass me that joint, dude; I wanna get really trashed before I gotta pick the kids up from soccer.')

Sorry... as a teacher, I have to deal with liberals all the time. Maybe, with time and after knocking a few hippes around, I'll get better...

I just came in from chopping wood and I see that I "KNOW NOTHING!" about liberals (sound of Jim Cramer yelling). But I do now, and, thanks for that...khart-full of insight!

So Kos thinks he can throw Truthers off the forum!!

If you look closely, you'll find the UFO/Paranormal threads in the Kos forum.

That's where the real action is happening. We discuss Art Bell and George Noory. And believe me, we are not NO NOTHINGS.

We are the most intelligent posters on the Web, bar none.

#6 - Posted by: Kos Kid Truther on August 23, 2007 06:03 PM

Although you said it in jest, Frank, you raised a really good question. How do we know what we know? For that matter, how do we know that we can know anything?

#7 - Posted by: Adam on August 23, 2007 10:55 PM

Hahaha! The "most intelligent poster on the web" mispelled "know." That made me laugh. Thank you Kos Kid Truther, thank you.

I have yet to meet a liberal whineskin who doesn't "have it all figured out".

They know why 9/11 happened.

They know who was behind it.

They are certain of their beliefs.

They are certain to not research their "findings". That might make them really think about the hatred they perpetuate, and it's understandable-

Who wants to admit they're wrong?

I think it's important to note that some of these people really got behind B. Clinton when he tried to redefine our lexicon by attempting to redefine certain words and phrases to suit his defense.
It's almost like the early 80's "Est" movement...

what it means to you IS what it means... everyone else just didn't get it...

What?

"It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is..."

No. Seriously... ... what?

It is what it is. It happened. Just accept that & stop asking questions.

And that having been said, who here would say something so sterile concerning the people you might care about in our military, the ones maintaining the desire to succeed?

Not anyone beside you who cares. At least not ahead of profit margins.

It pays to capitalize on socialist ideals; just ask how much a liberal blogger makes for selling ad space to each/any Liberal advertiser...

And that's the punchline.

Liberals greatest intellectual failings are economics and human nature. I am convinced this is symptomatic of having very little experience in the real world. Whether earning a living where failure to perform earns you a pink slip, meeting obligations to employees under the weight of government regs, or dealings with people (foriegn and domestic) who are purely and simply, evil.

They are not serious people, having never been required to be.

#11 - Posted by: Alamo on August 24, 2007 10:49 AM

I have found most liberals to be very poor students of history, ordinary civics, ordinary law, current events and common sense. Once that is established at a young age, it can take almost the rest of their lives to correct. Often, it never happens. Quite sad, don't you think?

#12 - Posted by: Jimmy on August 24, 2007 12:02 PM

Considering that those who are considered "Liberals" are the most illiberal people you will ever meet, "politically aware" would be an exaggeration. So, forget "politically knowledgeable," unless that term has been redefined as "a synonym for liberal" the same way that "fascist" is now synonymous with "free market individualist" (also known as "libertarian").
