Finally **UPDATED with Confirmation**
Posted by Frank J. at 08:11 PM | View blog reactions | Comments (24)

Politico is saying it's the 6th of September that Fred Thompson will announce while Red State says it will be 4:30 today (i.e., less than an hour from when I write this). At least no one is saying October anymore.

I think you'll want a shirt for the occasion.

UPDATE:

Apparently what will be announced five minutes from as I write this update is that he will announce on September 6th.

UPDATE 2:

It's official. September 6th he'll be entering the race. He won't be in the Republican debate on the 5th and instead have an appearance on Leno.

With a firm date, excitement begins to return. Soon there will be Fred Thompson.

If Red State is right I'll miss it, my next class starts at 3:30. I'm going to spend all of class wondering if Fred announced instead of listening to the lecture........

I should mention, my 3:30 is Frank J.'s 4:30

#2 - Posted by: AR on August 30, 2007 03:45 PM

Today is when he is supposed to announce the (firm) date of when he'll announce (6th?)

This morning I saw a MFL wearing a T-shirt that said: 01-20-08 Bush's Last Day.

I was thinking that you should steal this idea and create T-shirts that say: 01-20-08 Thompson's First Day.

It would be priceless to watch the expression on their faces when they realize that instead of a fellow traveller you're (cue ominous music) ONE. OF. THEM!(end music).

You sure it wasn't 01-20-09?

#5 - Posted by: RW on August 30, 2007 04:04 PM

The 6th of September is my mom's birthday. :-)))

Several degrees of separation:

Just look what they found at the UN in NY .

Now we know why no WMD's have been found. They are being hidden in places like the UN. My suggestion would be they look in the US Capital, Buckingham Palace, the Vatican, Versailles, the Dome of the Rock and the Pyramids at Giza.

Maybe Fred will be able to get these idiots in gear or in the case of the UN, evict them.

RW, it was a Libtard who was probably educated via public unionized education. So they must have thought they were right. But bad on FH for not editing his tee-shirt idea. But he was a Marine. We pay them to kill, not know unimportant stuff like dates.

I'm sure he knows the Birthdate of the Marine Corps, Flag Day, Veteran's day and the other important ones though.

Doh! #9 - Posted by: FormerHostage on August 30, 2007 06:24 PM

I got an email from the Thompson campaign this afternoon. It's definite. He'll announce on Sept. 6th. We should have some sort of countdown on IMAO that shows the days until Fred's inauguration. It'll be 502 days from 9/6/07 until 1/20/2009.

Freds Theme apparently, its not AS good as I'd hoped, but awesome anyway. Security, Unity and Prosperity. Found it on HotAir. Thought you'd like to know

YAYZ! It's about freakin' time...

#12 - Posted by: Hazel on August 30, 2007 09:28 PM

September 6th....what year? 2011? Seems like an announcement has "been official" a couple times before today.

Ya, I'm in a grumpy/cynical mood.

#13 - Posted by: James on August 30, 2007 10:39 PM

Hi James. This is Jimmy. I know what you mean. But rest assured, we'll all get to have the "conversation" with Fred and the other candidates that we've always wanted. Historically, the Presidential campaign kicks-off on Labor Day of the previous year. Fred is being very traditional. And the others look like freakin' eager beavers.

FINALLY!

#16 - Posted by: bunkerboy on August 31, 2007 12:28 AM

Yep, I got the mailer from Imwithfred.com today. Sept. 6 is the firm date. Let's just all assume he's in already and begin working towards that goal.

#17 - Posted by: otcconan on August 31, 2007 12:33 AM

Isn't an announcement to announce an announcement? So why the need for an announcement now that he has announced? I'm just saying...

#18 - Posted by: Braden on August 31, 2007 12:34 AM

From this day forth, September 6th will be enshrined by the American people as a national holiday. Small children will leap with joy and adults will weep knowing that the Union is safe from perverts, pricks and wide-stancer's!

#19 - Posted by: ussjimmycarter on August 31, 2007 04:52 AM

If there was any doubt that the man knows how to make himself wanted, just look at his wife. :-)

I for one welcome the new Thompsonian overlord. Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb bomb Iran...

#20 - Posted by: Francesco Poli on August 31, 2007 05:57 AM

UssJC,

So exactly how should we celebrate?

Some suggestions:

1. Hippie Pinatas (using real hippies of course! Not so much candy, but much more satisfying to smack with a stick).

2. Marrying a Trophy Wife (I've already got mine).

3. Small but jubilant gatherings to recite Thompson Fun Facts. (Sort of like a Bar Mitzvahs, but with more dancing and celebration).

#21 - Posted by: Matt on August 31, 2007 07:32 AM

>Hippie Pinatas

But... you don't hang hippies; you just beat them. It's not a pinata if it's not hanging off a tree, no matter what Microsoft says.

So: Terrorist Pinatas!

#22 - Posted by: on August 31, 2007 08:04 AM

I think we can make an exception for Thomspon Day, just so more people can participate.

I have a friend who is a Spanish Teacher. At the end of the year a few years ago they had a party to which someone brought an Ossama Pinatas. I'm not sure what it was full of but I have a guess.

*Relieved sigh!* I'm glad I have my T-shirt now! Even if I can't wear it to work
